Ownership meant a physical copy. Now you own nothing and can't find what you want across multiple streaming platforms.
Bring back headphones that plug in. Bring back expandable memory. Bring back owning media.

It’s really refreshing and affirming to hear these words spoken by another human! Sometimes (often, if we’re being totally honest with ourselves), I feel insane for thinking that people should just be able to be friends with other people regardless of whether or not someone is married or they’re an opposite gender, without having to make it weird and sexual. Please can we just go back to all being friends on the playground and playing in the dirt together.
First they censor her educational pornography and then they confiscate her poisonous mushrooms, they are OPPRESSING the weird girl

When you see an adolescent saguaro 👍
When all you have is a vase, all your problems start to look like flowers
Well sometimes my problems look like two heads facing each other really close
I think one of my favorite things about listening to Midst/Unend is that, beyond the actual story (which is absolutely fantastic), it makes me think so deeply about forms and formats and mediums, and how much you can play with it. Like, I genuinely think that there is no other format that would work as well as audio/podcast for Midst, and a lot of it comes down to the fact that Third Person plays into it deeply and unapologetically, and they're always using the tools of the format in favor of the story, and in ways that are always fun and unexpected. And like, my preferred format for my storytelling is writing, but every time I listen to a new episode of Midst/Unend it makes me want to explore all the ways in which I can play with the writing format to make my stories more fun, and tbh, I think that's cool as hell
I think my favorite thing about Aabria as a player is how willing she is to play a woman who makes choices people won't like. Laerryn blighting the tree, Suvi standing firmly in her indoctrination and ego for so much of worlds beyond number, thaisha being incredibly proud/confident and living a life void of connections to specific people because the world is her love.
And the many, many choices they make over their stories that can be so frustrating and stressful. Genuinely it makes for such amazing story telling and character growth. I think it's a thing that often comes with being a DM previously because I feel that Matt is similar with Julien and how much he acknowledges Julien is unlikable and a dick intentionally.
But aabria plays such deeply flawed women who grow and change, who are strong and refuse to break or bend because someone believes they should. It's truly a treat every time she graces a table to see what she's cooked up.
Someone who understands, yes!
Aabria is creating flawed characters who sometimes do things I can't agree with, but there is always a reason for it.
People who make bad choices or do terrible things don't always do them out of malice, and it is the job of story telling to get us to understand how things get to that point.
I just... I love her, your honor.

How people get nicknames:
Recipient of a third-degree burn in front of witnesses. IE, "I won't take that shit from a man dressed like a ghostbuster"= "Gostbuster" or "Buster"
A distinctive personal feature or quirk. IE, "Have you noticed how that new guy is always eating bell peppers?" = "Peppers", or "That chick has a massive forehead" = "Forehead".
An embarrassing thing you said or did. IE, "Did you seriously call Dale "Dad"?" = "Junior", "Baby boy", "Sport"
A game of name-mutation telephone. IE, "Donny Clyde" = "Bonnie 'n' Clyde" = "Bonnie" = "Bon-bon".
Irony. IE, calling a tall person "short stack" or a particularly dour person "sunshine".
A 'wrong place wrong time' one-off incident. IE, "He spilled oil on his pants and had to borrow a pair that were way too big and Jim saw him with the waistband pulled up to his nipples and called him 'Parachute'"
A batman-style origin story but not in a cool way: "One time she hit a deer with the company car and when she called the boss to tell her she was crying so hard we thought she was dying" = "Bambi"
The incredibly rare 'admiration' nickname, bourne only once a millennia under the light of the blood moon: "We saw him lift a truck once so now we call him 'iron man'"
+ How Nicknames Stick:
Your fate is determined by The Counsel
You hate it
It's accurate
This reminds me of an article about how callsigns in movies are inaccurate because they're too cool. Generally your callsign in the military is like "Bepis" because you once pronounced "Pepsi" wrong.

lord of the rings is a fun place to fandom because there's so many options to obsess over no matter what your interests are, but because of that it's also a humbling reminder that different people like different things and that's ok.
like, for me the heart and soul of lotr is the hobbits, and it always bemuses me to see how underrated they can be in fics or fandom like?? you have these funky little fuckers who are really brave and kind and loyal but also have oddball forms of government and eat and party a lot and get into scrapes and have all these hobbit pals and there's all sorts of shipping options and they have interesting nuanced social politics and second breakfast and pipeweed and they give presents on their birthday instead of the other way around so they're always getting presents and they're hilariously weird about their family trees and they led full-scale guerrilla warfare against these bastards who invaded their homeland but also all they want to do is chill and have nice gardens and probably judge vegetable growing competitions and have pretty dances
and instead people are getting super invested in basic-bad-boy-bitch sauron? huh. fair enough. the world is indeed a rich tapestry.
oh god this is how gandalf speaks to saruman isn't it
dragon and human hanging out. they both think their species domesticated the other one’s
the dragon comes over and sniffs the human for a bit then gently lays her head in the human’s lap to request petting. the human obliges
the human thinks “wow it’s really cool that they got an animal that normally eats humans to be docile enough towards us that i can pet her”
the dragon thinks wow its really cool that they got a skittish prey animal to be brave enough around dragons to offer me grooming behavior
i Love that anders’ clinic delivers babies and treats STDs. thank you for calling planned parenthood of Kirkwall. we are one guy in the sewer. they’ve been trying to catch him for Years . for birth control inquiries, press 1. for hormone therapy, press 2
