I’ve been stressed lately and wanted to draw something quiet. Since I’ve done fall and winter in the 100 acre woods, here is springtime with Eeyore.
About The Whole Soriku "Aitsu Theory"....
Listen, I'm a Soriku shipper, but I think it's important to know that the whole "Aitsu Theory" was basically debunked in the Kingdom Hearts Ultimania Alpha which came out way back in December 2005 (p. 186).
They make a note of the use of "Aitsu" and place it next to the scene where we see Riku use "aitsu" when talking to Sora. Here is a close up the Aitsu note:
My translation of this:
2) Aitsu
The one that is being talked about here is Kairi. The friend in these memories is being vaguely referred to as "aitsu" because Marluxia is stenciling the schematic that "aitsu = Namine" into Sora's memories, trying to manipulate Sora's thoughts and feelings.
----
I think the whole Aitsu Theory is interesting and makes for a nice interpretation of COM, but there has been nothing in later games or Ultimanias or any other official books that retcons this information or de-confirms that aitsu is actually Kairi.
I think it's only fair that, if we use Ultimania's to confirm theories or ideas surrounding Soriku that we also use Ultimania's to confirm when a theory has been debunked as well. Theorizing is fun and all, but I think it's important to acknowledge when theories have been debunked as well, since not doing that can lead to misinformation spreading. Plus, there are still a lot of really great queer readings you can get from COM even without the whole aitsu theory stuff.
What supports the "Sora becomes the King of Kingdom Hearts" theory is the fact that Nomura always draws Sora sitting on a throne with a crown on his head
Indeed.
The soundtrack for KH1:
The box art for 1.5:
(Bonus points for Kairi teasing him and poking his crown!)
And… this artwork for KH3:
It even gives him wings, in a way - look at how that part of the throne behind him really does look like wings, seriously, and they’re positioned right over his shoulders/upper arms - and that crown got a nice upgrade…
Something tells me Nomura is going somewhere with this. He was the one who foreshadowed the Final World being in KH3 by drawing it for the KH2 Final Mix art, as well as drawing a famous landmark from Shinjuku on the KH3 box art, after all…
brothers
my first fanbinding project is finally complete!!! it was an enormous learning experience and it's far from perfect, but i'm so proud of how it turned out ☺️
the fic i chose is the phenomenal Why the Sun Sets Red by Perosha, which quite frankly changed my life when i read it. the moment i decided to get into binding, i knew this was the story i wanted to work with. if you love 358/2 days as much as i do, then i can't recommend it enough.
Namine Icons
So, I swear that something is going on with this and that Nomura is trying to tell us something about the future of the series.
Like, it could be that Sora falls to darkness or something and Kairi remains a heart of pure light, of course (or other crazy theories like that).
Or it may be this theory that @bluerosesburnblue and I were working on at one point: that Sora is unknowingly one of Darkness’ chess pieces (who is obviously an agent of Darkness) and Kairi is unknowingly one of the Master of Master’s, who is an agent of Light and that might be part of the reason that fate (or whatever) has always seemed to try and separate them thus far.
Because why else are we suddenly associating Sunshine Boy Sora, of all people, with the Darkness?
Is it better that you don’t know…?
Kind of wish Kairi's hair was a bit more choppy than the clean bob she has
