Got this email from Tumblr about Mystic Summer turning 2 on 05/30/17.

Yup, I got the email ages ago. But I’ve been really busy as I mentioned in this post, which is why I wasn’t able to publish this until now.

Recently, I’m trying to be more active here again, and that includes posting articles that have been sitting on the drafts page of my Tumblr blogs for what seems to be years. I also want to post all the emails I’ve gotten about the birthdays and milestones my blogs have achieved.

Mystic Summer was actually the second theme I made. The first was Weiss Zima. You can learn more about this theme on this post. The demo blog can be found here. You can install it for free via the Tumblr Theme Garden.

One of the things I’ve been working on recently and what has caused me to be so busy was creating more Tumblr themes. These are all available for sale on Gumroad.

Yuragu Koto Nai Ai (song lyrics from Get Backers)

Yuragu Koto Nai Ai is the first opening theme song of the Get Backers anime and manga series. It was sung by Tamura Naomi.

Get Backers tells the story of Midou Ban and Ginji Amano, friends who have special abilities. Their job is to get back anything that was lost or stolen. The show is very interesting, to say the least, and the song sounds really nice not to mention meaningful.

I love the words quoted above. At first glance, it seems really simple and it is but it’s also so poignant and meaningful. Even the Japanese romaji words are not hard to remember:

“Wasurenaide hitori janai yo.”

This quote is so awesome that it totally needs to be framed, ne? Because the truth is that this quote is something that can easily be forgotten, right?

Sometimes, we might get the feeling that we’re alone, that no one understands us, that no one cares about us, that we’re nothing, that we’re so insignificant and that it wouldn’t matter even if we disappear. 

Sometimes, we just end up feeling sad, depressed or melancholy. In those moments, don’t you find yourself wishing that someone would tell you and remind you that you’re not alone?

Don’t you want someone to say this quote to you? Because, sometimes, we just need to be reminded that there’s someone out there who cares about us, who cares what happens to us and who will be sad if we left or disappeared. What do you think about this phrase? Have you said it to someone? Has someone said it you?

Line Height - this is the spacing between lines of text. If you think the text is too near each other, then increase the line height otherwise decrease it

Comments Feature On Mystic Summer

You can use the Disqus 3rd-party commenting system on Mystic Summer. All you need is an account on Disqus. Once you have an account there, you will need your Disqus Shortname. 

After adding this to the theme options page of your blog, your readers and visitors can now leave comments on your blog. You can tinker with your Disqus account settings to decide on many options such as on whether to allow people to comment anonymously or not.

You can add a heading that will show up right before the Disqus comments. This can say anything you want like “leave a comment” or “comments”, etc.

You can also add text below this heading. While the theme options page lists this as “Comment Guidelines”, know that you don’t have to limit yourself to that. You can type whatever you want here even if it’s not comment guidelines.

Toggle Options On Mystic Summer

The rest of the toggle options have already been discussed in previous posts. They’re under the navbar, sidebar, etc categories.

On Mystic Summer, you can choose to display or hide the author byline. This appears on top of posts on their permalink pages. It will say “posted by [name of author]” along with a link to that person’s Tumblr blog.

You can also choose to show or hide caption titles. If you turn this on, the first line of your captions will be turned/transformed into titles. This post is an example of that. 

This is a photoset post so you’re only allowed to add a caption alongside your pics. However, if you turn  on “Show Caption Titles”, you’ll be able to display the first line of your caption as a title. In this case, the “Toggle Options On Mystic Summer” is the very first line of this post so it’s been transformed into a title since the “Show Caption Titles” was toggled on.

Font Options On Mystic Summer

You can easily customize the fonts of your blog just by going to the theme options page.

For the quotes and sources of quotes on quote posts, you can choose from any of the available Tumblr fonts. For the rest of the fonts on Mystic Summer, you can use Google Fonts. You can find more info about that here.

Font - this refers to the titles and headings on your blog like the post titles and the headings on the sidebar

Color Options On Mystic Summer

On Mystic Summer, you can easily customize the colors of your blog. Just go to the theme options page and choose the colors that you want for your blog.

Customizing The Mystic Summer Sidebar

The sidebar on Mystic Summer has a lot of customization options and features, all of which you can find on the theme options page of your blog.

On Mystic Summer, you can: 

Show or hide your blog’s description content, heading and avatar

Upload your own avatar

Show or hide the sidebar

Move the sidebar to the right or to the left

Show or hide the contents of the sidebar including the tags, text widget, social media follow buttons, etc

Include headings for each of the panels/content of your sidebar including the pages/menu, blog description, social media follow buttons, Tumblr likes and follows, text widget, etc

Mystic Summer Footer

On Mystic Summer, you can have up to 3 footer widgets. Aside from being able to add/type your own content for these widgets, you can also include your own footer widget headings. You can also change the background color of the footer box. 

Your blog name/title will automatically be included in the footer section of your blog alongside the copyright symbol. You can set the copyright date or year that you want by going to the theme options page of your blog.

The footer section also includes the credit links (the “powered by” and “theme created/made by” URL links). Kindly/please do not remove these links.

Mystic Summer has a fixed navbar. This is how you can customize this bar and its contents to your liking.

What you can find on the Mystic Summer fixed navbar:

A random link that leads to any one of your blog posts

Ask/contact link

Submit link

In order to show the ask and submit links, you must enable them on your blog account settings. They will automatically show up on the fixed navbar if you have your blog set to accept asks and submissions.

As you can see from the screenshots, you can:

Show or hide your blog title

Change the color of your blog title

Change the color and border color of the fixed navbar

Change the title of your blog

Show or hide the random, RSS and archives links
