Nora was draped sideways in her father’s beloved lounge chair and watched her brother, Liam, pace a path back and forth into the wood floor. Her eyes never left him, but he was not focused on the aesthetics around him. His eyes stared out the lead pained window from the Dochary Cottage front sitting room.
“Liam, do sit.” Maria, their mother, lifted her tea cup to her flesh pink lips. “You’re making me dizzy.” That was the first words spoken since her husband left with Ian and Walter. They hiked over to High Street (the highest point in Ledrith-Neath) to take a census of the late summer rain storm. Liam nodded nervously and obeyed his mother. Sitting, however, did not make him still. Nora’s eyes never broke her gaze as Liam bent down to sit in the bay window alcove. A second ticked by before he started to fidget with his thumbs and his leg bounce up and down.
Liam didn’t sit long before they all were startled as the back kitchen door swung open and brought the smell of the rain into the warm cottage. Jamie quickly shook of the rain from his robe whilst making is way to his family, Ian and the dogs (Arthur + Perdita) in tow. “It’s now or never son. Walter thinks that this isn’t going to let up for a bit.”
“Can we move it to the church?” Liam asked so fast his words almost blurred together. Jamie just smiled back. He reached out for Liam’s shoulder and grasped it. He beamed at his eldest son.
“Lee, Merlin himself can smite us all. This wedding will go on!” His voice boomed with pride. Arthur and Perdita echoed their enthusiasm and quickly ran back outside. Jamie waited patiently for Maria, held out his hand, their smiles as wide as a phoenix’s tail. Nora was the last to follow her family out.
Nothing can compare to the love you feel when the tow being wed see each other from down the aisle. Nora saw it in her brother and matched in Bonnie’s face. Though the sun may be behind the clouds, Nora knew that it love was the sun today. As bright as 1,000 lumos charms.
“You may now kiss your beloved.” The high priest smiled and stepped back to let Bonnie + Liam embrace each other as husband and wife. The pagan church rumbled with applause echoing off the limestone walls, and over powered the thunderclaps from clouds.
As the claps rang out, his contributing to the mayhem of happiness that filled the air around him, Xander’s eyes didn’t fall upon the blushing bride but the tearful blonde that came to greet them. She was smiling from ear to ear, hugging the newlyweds before they continued down the aisle to greet others. Joy and love moved all around them, tugging at every heart-string Xander’s body encompassed. He couldn’t help but be entranced by her, wanting to be the one planting little kisses along her brow and fall helplessly into the charged air. The feeling was strong and he knew that it probably showed along his face, but tried to hide it anyway.
His beloved sister stood next to him, small leftover sobs came from her as she scooted closer to Xander and grabbing for his hand. Ever since there parents had passed away, Savannah had grown increasingly needy but Xander knew it was for a good reason. Sometimes she would just need to touch him, making sure that he was still there in front of her and this wasn’t some dream. He took her hand into his, happy that he still hand his sister by his side and kissed her knuckles. He smiled at her then, love bubbling within him and he quickly pulled the young girl in for a hug.
When the siblings scurried out of their row, they moved in to find the Dochary Clan getting their congratulations from their own grandparents. Xander parted from his sister, wanting to find Nora and the gang to see what the next plan was. He spotted Nora, talking to a few of the girls from Bonnie’s side of the family and moved toward her direction. The feast was to be held at the Farm, but he didn’t want to get there right away and thought they could make a pit stop at the tree-house for some recreational activities. He smiled deviously at Nora before he reached her side, voice low and smooth, “I’ve got four joints in my pocket that are starting to burn a hole, where is everyone? It’s tree-house time.”
