In 2014, Russia annexed a part of Ukraine (Crimea) and since then has been funding and arming Pro-Russian separatist and terrorist groups that have seized Donbas, an eastern region in Ukraine. Russia has been funding a civil war in Ukraine, essentially. Recently, the separatist groups have been sending civilian women, children and elderly out of Ukraine and into Russia, but leaving fighting-age men inside. These separatist are directly controlled by Kremlin (the government of Russia) and they are how Russia has been leading a proxy war on Ukraine since 2014. 

But now, Russia has sent their own troops in, which is an invasion. They are doing it under the pretence of ‘peacekeeping’, but this is an obvious lie.

Russia accuses Ukraine of aggressing on Donbas and on Russia, prompting the war on Russia and conducting genocide on its own people. None of this is true. Russia is the one arming Pro-Russian terrorists in Ukraine, Russia has been surrounding and provoking Ukraine with military, and is the one that has been spreading misleading historically-inaccurate disinformation. It’s what Russia did in Georgia in 2008 and similar to what Germany did in Poland in 1939.

Making this post cuz I don’t see anything on tumblr about this, and to spread links and information.

the fact that fandom is a space where unfinished works proliferate is something to be celebrated. where else can you start a novel and never finish it and still people read and engage with what you’ve done and share your interest in it. where else can we get to read the work of people who do not have the time or capacity or resources for commitment to long projects over long time. i don’t know if there’s a way to measure the total volume and proportion of unfinished and abandoned works on ao3, but i’d bet good money it’s a large majority of multichapter works, and do you know what would happen if fandom required all works to be finished? none of that great volume of work would exist! what a tremendous loss would that be! fandom’s permissiveness of unfinished work is one of its greatest strengths as a creative environment, productive for readers and liberating for writers, and if we better recognized that, if we stopped allowing the dominant discourse of unfinished WIPs to be about failure or betrayal or whatever, we would get more stories, not fewer, more story, not less.

Damn. She did everything right. Yes, this is dangerous. But even a violent man is still human and can be outplayed. Predators rely on a pattern or routine. Disrupt the routine, and the predator freezes up. Once you disrupt them, don't give them time to develop a response. Be bold. Be decisive. Talk loud. Act fast.

How should I approach this as a man? I wouldn’t want to make her more uncomfortable but I also wouldn’t be able to physically intimidate anyone because I’m short and un-athletic.

Talking to the woman is going to be hit or miss, just because she won't know if you are an "out if the frying pan, into the fire" situation. BUT, you could still go with "thanks for waiting, you ready to go? Oh, who's this?" And if she walks with you, you can say that she looked uncomfortable. I had a guy once ask if I could help with his phone to get me away from a conversation. OR: talk to the dude. "Hey man, can you give me directions to this place? Don't I know you from somewhere?" Etc. Then she has time to escape. There are no set in stone answers, even if you don't handle it perfect, if she gets out of the situation safely, count it as a win

Talking to the dude works!

One of my colleagues spotted a woman facing slightly away from a man who was talking to her, who was scary close. She looked uncomfortable and made eye contact. He noticed the guy was wearing a Broncos jacket and nonchalantly passed them both by and started the sports speak to the dude, like "aw bro did you see the defense last night? Hell of a time to he a Bronco fan, right?" And stood slightly behind the guy so he had to turn away from the woman. She said a cheeky "I'm not into sports, g'night!" comment and slipped away to the elevator. The dude looked super pissed but just stalked away to his car.

What was he supposed to do, admit to bad intentions?

Sometimes you don't need to be the savior, but a distraction.

Oh not just Sylvie's reaction-I want Severide and Gallo teaming up in their mutual resentment of this guy. 😤 I want full blown, Mean Girls "YOU CANT SIT WITH US!" rebellion, with the others trying (not really) to calm them down. Sylvie is too sweet to say anything, and besides, I want her to take Casey's locker for herself.

And I need this to go on for at least two episodes... with possibly a phone call from Matt to rein them in finally.

She always thought that if he was on his knees before her, he’d be either bent or broken. Broken with defeat, begging for his life, or bent with subservience, pliable to her will.

With a wicked gleam in his eyes and a mischievous quirk to his full flips, he somehow still had all the power. His fingers casually traced patterns around her ankle, up her calf, and she couldn’t help the goosebumps that followed in their wake, hyper focused on his touch even as she tried to pretend that she was unaffected.

“I know you, better than anyone else,” he said, his voice a low purr.

“You?” she started, her tone indignant. “You think you-” She sucked in a harsh breath. He had angled his face to nip her inner thigh, dark eyes turned up toward her face to watch her wince. Amusement dimpled his cheeks at how she tried to still her expression.

Then, he pressed an open-mouthed kiss to the same spot, so tenderly that heat flushed her veins and her heart fluttered. “Let me show you,” he murmured into her skin, lips a teasing graze, “exactly how well I know you.”

I also want to say that y’all keep feeling exactly what you need to feel to get through this. I’m not trying to invalidate anyone’s emotions or responses. Just, I know some of you count on Fire (and Brettsey) as an escape/outlet from your real situation, so it hits harder. But I hope you also know that the fandom isn’t going anywhere, and we have some kickass fanfic writers who are feeling a whole lotta things too. We’re better than the docs on Med at fix it fics. ( although we *I* definitely can’t do it in 45 minutes like the show) 😂😘 We got you.

Okay, quick thoughts to put some perspective on this:

Three years is a few episodes in tv time.

Jesse and Haas have both said he will be back. Hell, CASEY said himself that there is a definitive end date on his time in Oregon. Until it becomes canon otherwise, that is what I am believing

Brettsey fans do not despair, because the fact that there will be FaceTime calls and weekend trips is already a 💯 times a better place than Dawsey fans were. And both characters verbally committed to each other, so again until that canonically changes, I will believe.

This is not Matt Casey’s last time in Chicago. Nor is it his and Severide’s last fire or their last conversation. I would believe that Severide is going to go visit and stay in Oregon before that.

My personal opinion: Jesse is burnt out, BUT I think he will recharge in a few months and be back at the very least to give Casey a proper send off (and death, if it comes down to it)

I will add more when I’m not sleepy. Point is, this episode felt like business as usual, which was probably intentional. It wasn’t a goodbye; it was see you later.

Thoughts on 10.01: Mayday

So was Brettsey hiding their relationship or were they just in their bubble? I think they were just in their bubble because Matt’s reaction was not OMG PEOPLE KNOW!

I mentioned it yesterday but the episode really showed how different the start of their relationship is vs other OC couples. They are best friends, they know each other, there is no awkward getting to know you stage for these two. 

I LOVE how everyone was like.. yup they are dating.. and it wasn’t a big deal. I have to admit I was one that was worried about some of the house’s reaction, especially Herrmann’s, so to see 51 just be happy for them, made me happy.

I really REALLY want them to properly explore a possible ptsd arc for Cruz, this is soo needed on this show.

I LOVE the trio of Gallo, Ritter and Violet soo much!!

No slight against Mackey/Adriyan but I haven’t been as excited about Brett’s ambo partner since Foster (or Mills)

I cannot express enough how much joy DomesticBrettsey brought me

now to some of the dreaded Haas quotes

the fact that seemingly every interview Haas goes out of his way to describe Brettsey as “solid and stable” is not for naught

meaning you don’t usually describe a couple that way when you are about to break them up, to me it tells more about how they will react to the obstacles they will be faced with and I like my odds with a solid and stable couple

I know several theories have been floated around but just remember that the obstacles are described as EXTERNAL to them being a couple.. and some of the more outlandish theories (you know which ones I am talking about) would definitely fall under internal.. I mean you can’t get more internal than a pregnancy!

Big changes/obstacles don’t necessarily mean heartbreak/heartache for a couple

As I mentioned above it is very telling how much the show is going out of it’s way to describe and show them as stable

My money is at least one of the obstacles being the return of the Darden boys

🤣😂 I can’t even with this…I’m watching “He’s All That” on Netflix and 🤣😂🤣😂🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄😤

First of all, STOP RUINING MY MOVIES WITH YOUR BASTARDIZED “reboots”!!!😤 There will never be another combination of talents like there was for my 90’s movies, no matter how many wannabe actors are processed through the Disney machine.

I tried to like it, honestly. But there was no depth to it whatsoever. No sub plots, no filler, nothing. To put it in fandom terms, there was nothing in this movie that inspired me enough to want to create content or write fic for it. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Which is a pretty solid measurement to base off of, if you really think about it. If the piece of media that you are watching/reading/listening to/etc doesn’t inspire in some way beyond the product, then you will inevitably walk away feeling like you wasted your time, effort, money.

I turned it off and I already don’t remember the characters names.

And now I have to go watch the original and try not to cry over seeing a young golden boy Paul Walker… Thanks a lot, Hollywood.
