Frustration. Inevitable acceptance.
Like many who shared their thoughts today, I am deeply saddened by the decision to remove adult content from Tumblr. For me this digital platform has been a place of acceptance. A place where you can find others who are just like you. More importantly to develop an awareness that you are not alone in this world even if you happen to live in a small place. As I went through my personal journey and my own sexual development, it was frustrating to not find people around me who shared my interests and my values. I could go online and connect with individuals who wanted what I had to offer and who craved what I wanted to give.
I do not know what is going to happen. I think the world of social media is so toxic and capitalistic these days that it will be impossible for another platform to Rise From the Ashes. It’s more likely than not that many will go to Twitter, but I think they will soon ban adult content as well.
I’m not worried about myself. I Will Survive. I worry for the Young submissives. Individuals that are trying to understand their feelings and they don’t know where to turn. Unfortunately porn can create such a false dichotomy of life. The harshness of BDSM portrayed in the media can be cruel. I only hope that they can find other outlets to know that this is not the way that they are supposed to be treated. I hope they find the courage to stand up for themselves. I hope they search for communities.
I am beyond grateful for the friendships and the connections that I have discovered from this platform. I am deeply saddened by the prospect of not having future Outlets to find such similar people.
If you are in recon, look me up. Stay in touch. @DoYouDare
More to come in the days leading up to December 17.
