Evilcon, pass me that book please.
Wh-don’t you run a library!?
My vendors will learn to deal with it, now pass the book.
Si, why are we doing this.
Out reach. It’s important to talk to many people.
Y-you’re joking right? You’re the one saying this? Did the Stranger get your ass, what the hell are you talking about.
Jack. It’s very rare I just…indulge. In fact, I’d say it’s close to never. So if I’d like to gather in a place full of people who would like to buy my books, or enjoy my wares, or that I can buy from, then I’d like to be allowed.
You’re allowed, man. Always are. …but it’s weird. You hate people.
The Mother of Puppets calls me to strange places.
You need to stop just freehanding Her name. You sound like a priest sometimes.
Jeremy slowly walked near the place, scratching at his own hand. Oscar told him to go here incase he couldn't find the way home. He knows he'd probably look like shit, his new clothes he got from Oscar already stained with blood. He didn't mean it, but it was still hard to ignore it. The hunger. And like the previous times, he blacked out and can't remember how to get home. Oscar had said a Bird was here, but unfortunately, Jeremy was not that good at spotting them.
[Si glances at Jeremy and pauses for a second. Jack glares at Si, then his gaze shifts to what he’s looking at.]
Oh, shit.
You know the kid?
Maybe.
[Jack and Si walk up to Jeremy.]
Jeremy stopped walking as Jack and Si approached him. He quickly looked both of them up and down. Who'd be more likely one of Simon's? He was guessing Jack, then again, he's usually wrong.
He’s with you, you know.
How do you know these things?
My spiders.
[Jack rolls his eyes and then looks at Jeremy.]
Hey there, my name’s Jack Fairchild. Are you ok? You’ve got….quite a bit of blood on you.
So he was right this time. Was he okay? Probably not. "It's not my blood." It wasn't completely true. The blood from scratching his hands was his. He just wanted to get home. He couldn't reach Oscar bc he didn't bring his flip phone.
[Jack nods. He’s used to the feeling.]
Ok, that’s good. Are you doing ok otherwise, though?
Jeremy nods. He was very much lying, but he couldn't bring himself to care. He just wanted to go home. To Simon's house or Oscar's, it doesn't matter.
[Jack glances at Si for help. Si just pulls out a book.]
Useless. Uh…kid, can I ask you what your name is? Or…where your guardians are?
"Jeremy Odessa." Normally he gladly would answer the man, but he genuinely doesn't know. And he was not about to explain "oh, the blood is from the man I cannibalized", the whole history or the fact that his name was mostly known by random strangers of the Icarus Case.
Jeremy Odessa…why does that sound familiar. Hm…uh, did you mean to come to Evilcon, Jeremy? It’s pretty easy to accidentally stumble into here.
He nodded again. Oscar said he had to find Jack here, so he did.
[Jack nods and smiles gently.] Ok. Can I ask why you came here?
"Needed to find one of simon's to get home." Jeremy didn't mention Oscar. He was not sure if he could trust Jack yet. Because as much as he loves his godfather and certain friends of his, he can't go and trust like he'd known them all his life.
You know my Granddad?
Jeremy nods again. "He's my godfather. Complicated story." He answered. He never knew Simon's adopted more kids. He isn't adopted exactly, but yeah..
Hah! Always is with him isn’t it.
[Jack cracks his knuckles and smiles. This kid is part of his family.]
Ok Jeremy. You said you need help getting home? I mainly work with falls, but I can get you to where you need to be.
"Just to Simon's house." He could find the way to Oscar later. Better to start somewhere familiar then unfamiliar.

Asher was supposed to be on shift in Camp Half-Blood’s infirmary, but he didn’t show up. Or, at least not until they shakily wandered in two hours late, eyes slightly glazed over as he stumbled towards the counter, giving up half way and slouching to the floor. He definitely didn’t look as though they should be upright, nevermind working. Gods, it seemed like he was the one who needed medical attention.
Come on man, you got this. Just gotta get through the next eight hours...
“Oh shit. I, uh, didn’t see you there.” he rubbed his eyes with one hand “You need anything? I’ll be right over–”
"Hello, Asher. I'm gonna need to sit the f*ck down." Caleb simply said, his smile not matching his tone. "As for why I am here, Mr.D put me on house arrest and said to help in the infirmary."

[Before you stretches a long, paved stretch of earth. A warm gray asphalt coats a two lane road that seems to run endlessly along stretches of backcountry. You don’t remember how you ended up on this road. Maybe you were walking? Trying to clear your head? Now you’ve ended up so much farther than you meant to go. The strangest thing is that this whole time, you can’t recall seeing a single vehicle. . .]
Jeremy stood shaking on his legs, he doesn't remember ending up here. He can taste the copper of blood on his tongue, not his own. It was sticking to his face, dripping ugly from his chin. He remember that man chasing him. He killed that man and left his body here somewhere, tat least what he left of the body. It was a clear blue sky. "Enjoy Sky Blue." Something his godfather had said to him, and what his father had written in his article about his godfather. He can't remember his name anymore. His first name was.. Roman? No.. it ended with mon. He remembered one thing clearly about him. Fairchild, that was his surname.
[It’s quiet here. Peaceful, if not for the sense of dread that crept up on you looking out at the everflowing river of dark pavement beneath your feet. A road meant to followed. To lead to some greater thing. Perhaps that was where all the people on this road had gone. Off to the greater thing that waited at the end of it, and Jeremy simply hadn’t gotten there yet. It seemed so very simple. To find that greater thing where everyone else had gone, all he need do is follow the road.]
[in the distance there is a soft rumbling. Thought its source was unclear. All he could tell was that it was from far, far behind him]
Jeremy continued to walk. He was still hungry, he wasn't satisfied with it. The man hadn't been enough to fill his stomach as he felt disgusted once he started the act. He felt so tired.. he wanted to lie down or fall into the prickly grass. He got out of that place, yes, away from that terrible woman. But still of them hadn't been enough to sate his hunger.
He hugged himself around his stomach, a misty breath leaving his mouth. It was cold, his skin blistering by his knuckles and wrist. His father told him he could just call out to his godfather as long as he called up into the sky. Whenever he is in trouble. The tears he has shed tearing out of that white cage had frozen on his face. He wasn't dead, not yet. He stopped.
Jeremy tilted his head back, staring directly into the sun. His eyes were probably red, but that didn't matter.
He called out his godfather name. "SIMON FAIRCHILD."
And waited. And wondered what would reach him first. The distant rumbling or his godfather.
(OOC: Jeremy is here 14 years old.)
[The rumbling comes closer. As it nears, it becomes clear that it belongs to an engine. Over a hill comes an old motorcycle, its tall rider sporting a leather jacket and a cowboy hat. As he nears Jeremy he slows down, eventually stopping entirely and letting the rumbling of the engine fall into a quiet, neutral gear. He steps off of his bike and looks the kid up and down, looking concerned for him. His voice is softer than one would expect for a man that looked like him. He speaks with a heavy southern accent]
Hey kid, y’alright? Y’look a bit lost out here.
Jeremy laughed at the man's question. He wondered what part of him screamed: 'I'm okay, sir. Just leave me.' But was he actually okay..? No. He didn't have anywhere to go. Well, he did. But..
"I.. don't know, sir." He stumbled, feeling weak. He hoped his godfather had heard him. He wanted to trust this man, but didn't. For now.
[The man adjusts his hat, now getting a proper look at Jeremy]
Well, Y’look right tired and out of sorts. I s’pose if any of that has come from wanderin’ here I owe you an apology. But I reckon first I oughta know who I’m apologizin’ to. Y’got a name, kid?
"J-j-Jeremy. My name is Jeremy Odessa."
Jeremy wasn't stupid. He'd been part of a case that has been going since 1996. He was one of the 2 missing boys. He was confused at the man not questioning the blood on his body, especially when it was in his mouth.
[He nods]
Name’s Oscar. Oscar Lovenby.
Now I ain’t gonna ask any further about it if y’ain’t keen on sharin, but s’that blood there yours and you’re still bleedin’, or is it somethin’ else’s? Like I said I ain’t after ya, just wanna make sure you’re alright before we see about gettin’ you out of here.
"It's not mine." Jeremy replied. Too quickly. "I.." He wanted to puke out his answer, but his throat tightened, desperately to keep it in as it tried to claw out.
Y’got somethin’ y’need t’say? F’it’s important it might be best that y’say it now, kid.
How could he say this? Oh, yes sir I cannibalized/killed multiple people in trying to escape a building, a man chased down a open field, cannibalized him too and left his body there. That's where the blood came from:D. Instead he shook his head. "It's nothing, sir."
[He most certainly doesn’t believe him, but drops the issue for now. After all, he said he wouldn’t ask any further]
Alright then, if ya say so.
[He takes a second to look through the bag attached to his motorcycle before taking out a bottle of water.]
Y’want some water or somethin’? Y’look pretty damn worse for wear.
Jeremy took the water bottle, greedily takes gulps as the luke-warm water hit his throat. Despite the disgusting taste, he liked it. Because it was so cold. And just as the warmth started to settle comfortably in his body, it disappeared.
[Oscar watches him, giving him a new one when the first was empty]
Right, now I heard you shoutin’ about earlier. I take it you’re one of Simon’s little birds?
"Birds? You know my godfather?" Jeremy was confused. He never actually knew the true nature of his own mother, much less his godfather or why his father sought out figures like Peter Lukas to name one. "Who are you?" Jeremy was tense. Was this man like the man who chased him through the field. He wouldn't hesitate to kill him. But if he could him to his godfather..
Well like I said, my name is Oscar, and I am a friend of sorts of your godfather’s. He tends to claim all those under the Vast as his own kin, and while I have an appreciation for the man I am more extended family than anythin’ else. The old bird up there runs the sky, I s’pose you could say I handle the ground division.
[He looks off into the distance a moment, then back at Jeremy]
But that ain’t all too important. What is is gettin’ you back where you’re meant t’be and not in here. You in any kind of state to be walkin’ or d’you need some rest?
"I can walk." Jeremy was quite a convincing liar, but his own body betrayed him. He doesn't care. He wants to leave here, see someone he knows.
Let’s get goin’ then and get you with the old man.
[Oscar keeps a close eye on the kid as they start to walk down the road. He knew the way to Simon’s place, even if the man himself was rather unpredictable in where he showed up. It wasn’t too long of a walk through, but the state this kid was in had him worried]
Jeremy could feel the adrenaline rushing through his body, trying to keep him warm. He was on fight or flight mode, clenching his fists. He'll be fine, just cold and covered in blood. He suddenly felt himself swaying, Oscar's face slowly getting darker.
[He stops, putting a hand on Jeremy’s shoulder]
Woah woah, hey, y’still with me kid? Let’s sit you down a minute, okay?
"Huh.." Jeremy gave Oscar an confused before nodding. He unclenches his fist, not reacting to the blood dripping from the crescent indents left by his nails. He just wanted to see someone familiar and get "home." He didn't wanna stop, he didn't care if he was barely unconscious. He needed to get away from here, away from that dead man, away from the hunger in his body.
I think you oughta sit down a minute. You look just about on the verge of passin’ out. N’less you’re plannin’ on gettin’ carried outta here.
[Touching his shoulder made him realize how cold Jeremy was]
Shit kid you’re damn near freezin’ too. Y’want my jacket for a minute?
Jeremy simply nodded. He didn't want to speak. He just wanted to go on. His thin white asylum clothes didn't help with the cold, or the fact that he had bare feet and arms. Adrenaline was still coursing through his body, desperately trying to keep him warm. Was this how it felt like to be drugged by your own body? Can your own body drug you? Jeremy grabbed onto Oscar hand tight, not letting go. He would apologize later if he made the man hurt or bleed. But he felt like he was about to go blind or die. But he wasn't dying, the blood wasn't his and he barely got injured during his escape. But oh, he wanted to get out of here. Away from the cannibalized man, from the hunger still stirring fiercely in his stomach like it was about to tear out of him and take control. He bits his lip, making it bleed.
[Oscar took off his jacket. It was oversized on Jeremy, but it was warm. He kept a firm hold on Jeremy’s hand, his own so calloused he barely felt the nails. They were nearing the point where they would soon reach Simon’s house, he knew, but he felt uneasy about just dropping Jeremy there. Simon did have quite the habit of not being home, or busy with all of his brood, and the kid clearly wasn’t okay]
Right, we’re almost there, kid. I do gotta tell you I ain’t sure if Simon’ll be there yet. I can still leave ya there if he ain’t around, but I can stick also around a bit if you don’t wanna wait alone.
"Stay." Jeremy normally wouldn't say that, but he didn't know his godfather that well. Not the way his father did and he doubt his father knew him SO well. He liked Oscar. He reminded him of that one burly guard that he remembered from the summer program. Or whatever that actually was.
[He nods. He takes them the rest of the way to Simon’s place. He lets himself and Jeremy in, knowing Simon didn’t care in the slightest, and brought them to the living room.]
Jeremy didn't sit down as his eye was caught by a item on Simon's shelf. A matryoshka or Russian nesting doll. He remembered them. His father would always get one when he finished his interviews with a 'Peter Lukas'. He didn't understand it just yet, the Vast. What a silly name.. he grabbed the nesting doll. The face painted on it reminded Jeremy of those theater masks the teacher once showed or maybe it was the expression. He took off Oscar jacket, careful to not smear it with blood. For now, he just held the matryoshka. But why would something of his father be in this house..?
[Oscar took his jacket back, fiddling with it a moment before putting it back on and adjusting his hat. He looks at the doll in Jeremy’s hand. Simon really had an interesting taste in decor]
Whatcha got there kid?
"A matryoshka or russian nesting doll. I don't get it. This belongs to my dad, why is it in his house." Jeremy was pondering if he should open it. He played that game when he was younger with his dad. He would leave a paper in each small doll, leading Jeremy to find where his father hid the next one. Though in this matryoshka, by the slight heavier weight, Jeremy could tell all the dolls were still in it.
Well, it don’t seem to particularly be one of a kind. They coulda just gotten em from the same place. Or, considerin’ he is your godfather, seems like somethin’ your dad reasonably coulda left here.
Jeremy opened up the doll. Around the slight smaller doll was a paper. Jeremy put it down on the table, reading the note.
"Dear Simon,
if you wonder why I left this with you, I apologize for not warning you sooner. Either it will be on the news, a bird from my wife or the Herald. I ask you to watch Jeremy for me if he ever turns up by you somehow. I expect Mirren to disappear soon once she sent you the message. Again, I apologize."
What? Why would his father warn his godfather. What happened to him.
[Oscar reads the note over Jeremy’s shoulder, looking a bit confused]
Well that’s a bit cryptic, ain’t it? What’s he mean it’s on the news?
"My dad wrote for the newspaper, the Herald. He had his own editions, articles about my godfather and figures like Peter Lukas." Jeremy mumbled a few names of other Avatars who were active during the 1970's-2000's. He opened the smaller doll.
[Oscar nodded, he knew most of them. After enough time you started to learn most every Avatar who’d done something notable]
Well, I s’pose findin’ the latest edition might end up useful.
How long’s it been since y’seen your dad?
"6 years." He answered curtly. He read the note around the even smaller doll.
"To my lovely Pandora.
I would steal you from Olympus just to share your warmth with the world, no matter the cold you will bring like Demeter brings once Persephone left her sight."
Your Prometheus
Jeremy let out a choked laugh, tears streaming down his face. The poem his father wrote for his mom when they met.
[He gives Jeremy a worried look]
M’sorry kid.
Who’ve you been with for those years then? They might be worried about you considerin’ y’got lost in my domain.
"NO-" Jeremy clenched his fist again, careful not to break the doll. He wouldn't go back there. He'd rather be dead.
Woah woah, alright. S’just askin’, I won’t take ya nowhere. Just askin’.
"..Sorry." Jeremy opened the last small doll. In it was a rolled paper, also folded. He started to read it.
"Hello, my dear Juneau,
If you're reading this, I'm no longer alive. Don't try to find your mom, she's already gone. She left enough stuff in the house for you to start over.
I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you. I know you're probably scared, confused, but I deeply apologize for not being able to stop this.
Details of my death you can find in the Herald, 2001 and in the house. I had to leave something behind to give you a clue. So I thought why not one more search.
Please stay safe and I'll be watching you, Juneau Rhodes. Forgive me,
Your dear Constantinople."
Jeremy put the last doll on the table and the paper. All of the letters were smeared with blood. He tried to wipe away his tears, only smearing the blood more over his face. It was a little joke between him and his father. Calling each other cities, it had been fun. He can't be dead, right..? H-he can't do that. No..

What is this?
