This is where I’d put my title, if I had one.

Just thought I’d let you know I’m not dead, just been juggling between not having time and not having brain power to work on the game. 

The PC version of the P[]xel has been updating slowly in the background and by slowly I mean I’ve probably managed two weeks worth of work on it in a year and a half.

Blender got a nice update to do more than spit out garbage.  Even tells you exactly what you’ll get now.

Finally got my hands on an Android device to update that version of the game as well.  Currently a bug with the patcher though so the game may give you a hat in place of finishing your first quest after patching.  What an odd thing games can be.

Do feel free to remind me how horrible the controls are on Android as well.  Still not sure how anybody plays action games on a tablet.

Now if you don’t mind, back to rolling in circles.

Halloween in Eden Prime

Been in the process of adding sound effects to the game.  Thought I’d give a quick update and go ahead and release the Halloween event before it’s too late.

Due to a late start, the event will last until November 14th instead of October 31st.

Please note that in order for the event to trigger, you must have beat the demo.

Nachos should be hanging out near the portal in Eden Prime or by the library door. Visit him for rewards.

Reward 1: A choice between two hats.  (Costs 1x Delicious Candy)

Reward 2: A choice between two disguise kits.  (Costs 3x Delicious Candy)

Reward 3: A +3 Shiny event weapon.  (Costs 5x Delicious Candy)

Some more event related things...

Well over half a dozen new undead enemies to be fought anywhere in the game, each with their own unlockable disguise kit. (Plus an increased drop rate on undead disguise kits.)

Three Halloween related medals have been added. (Currently placed in the top right of the misc section until events get their own panel.)

Hasaki's corpse has risen from the grave. For the duration of the event, He'll teach you new moves in exchange for Delicious Candy.

Take Candy Corn you get from quest board rewards to Treasure Kid to play a new holiday related mini-game that rewards Delicious Candy.

Poxel (PC) Update

Just a quick update for the PC users of Poxel.

This version was compiled directly to .zip.  This should hopefully avoid any false positives your virus scanner may have given you.

In addition, it includes the Hammu tool, a few bug fixes and a first pass of music has been added to the game. (Almost quadrupling the game's size even.  :O)

Poxel (Droid)

For those who have never installed a 3rd party application before, you may need to toggle some settings (usually under security.)  before it will let you install the game.  I hope everything is in working order, I’m afraid I only have the one shoddy fire tablet to test with.

Today’s Progress

Not sure how often I’ll update here going into the future.  Anyway, the droid version of the game will probably see an upload soon, whenever I get my hand on a device to compile to. (That thing’s like a phantom lately.)

For those more interested in what’s going on with the PC version of the game, have a few more screenshots.

A new tool has been added called the Hammu. Treasure Kid will hand it over to you once you’ve obtained the required amount of medals. (Currently 20)  It can be used to smash pushable objects, void spawn and virtually anything else that might get in your way.

There’s even three new Hammu related medals you will be able to obtain.  You can do it!

Game Download

A bit more info before we get to the meat of our adventure.  I've currently worked on this project for around 4 years. (Speedy little booger, I know.) So if you like what you see and wanna stick around, be ready for a long ride.

You should also be made well aware that despite what all of the preceding screenshots may imply, the game is loaded with curse words. There is an option for censorship within the game itself but it is highly likely that not all of the curse words were caught to be added into the filter.

That said, for those who are interested, here is the link to download the game. (Quick Note: The title screen on the pc version seems to be stuck at 60 fps right now due to an update in GM:Studio.  The rest of the game runs at the intended 30 fps.  This was needed for the game to run well on mobile.  Sorry about that.)

Keep in mind, this is an alpha demo, so the odds of the game crashing are high. There's also a chance your save data will be wiped in future versions (well below 10% chance) and even if you don't run into any bugs, the story will still come to a dead end.

As promised, here's some screenshots/info from my current project, I am P[]xel.

This is taken from the title screen, seems I've put in roughly 20 hours of play testing since August. (Even though the demo is probably only around 3 hours in length at this point. Which is also only if you do not skip story text.)

The gameplay is an action rpg with your character having the ability to transform in combat and then beat up on stuff or something.  Pictured is the Bullista form, which is currently a rare drop from a lucky ticket.

Here is a screenshot of the character menu shortly after injecting myself with the Little My Reaper form.

This one is a screen of map exploration. You can bounce off enemy heads and jump over some walls.  You can also unlock tools for use, like the pictured shovel and grappling hook.

And we finish off with a screenshot of the item box.  Here is where you'll put all of your epic loot you obtain throughout your journey. Careful you don't get a game over though or you could wind up losing it all.

A Quick Intro

Well, so I promised myself I'd quit letting my brain bully me into submission and come out from under my rock, even if only to see if there are any tasty snacks laying about.  I imagine you've probably never heard of me as I've tried my best to just lurk the internet for over a decade now.  (my how time flies.)  Anyway...

Hello, my name is Casey Taylor (AKA Nacho Penguin) and I've studied game design for going on over 17 years now.  While I am also capable of programming, art and etc., I wouldn't consider myself an expert in the fields by any means. That said, I've been working on my own pet project lately and I thought someone in this vast sea of 0s and 1s might want to take a gander.

Gonna upload some screenshots here in a bit and get around to handing out a playable demo later. (Hopefully before the end of the week, at least.)
