i feel like people aren't getting how dire ai is. we are running out of drinkable water. our brains aren't engaging as much with what we see and hear. people near data centers don't get clean water and experience electricity blackouts. it's being used to make pornography of underaged people and women. it often just lies. it affirms everything. it lies. it has made people kill themselves. it lies for gods sake. and people act as if im dramatic for being staunchly against it. 'now i KNOOW you hate ai and whatever, but look at this cute video' this isn't me being a new age puritan about internet videos, this is about the fucking earth and our future living on this planet. people are suffering now, people will suffer more, and my friends and parents will roll their eyes and think im annoying for despising ai so explicitly. we need to wake up because we cannot live like this

Literally 90% of fb I'm not even willing to slow down because it ends up being an Ai video or story.

And so many people are like "who cares if it's not real if it makes you feel good about humanity" and it's just like, but there are so many heartwarming humanity stories that ARE real?

I read a lot of fiction but I mean, it's presented as fiction. Why do they present lies as fact? It's okay if it makes you feel good, or makes you think?

I live 15 minutes from a catastrophic loss of life natural diaster. Last year on the anniversary, there was a big story making the rounds about a man who died in the disaster.

It painted a beautiful picture about his life, his family, and what they were all doing in the moments leading up to their deaths. Only... it was all bullshit.

His name. His name was true.

The rest... no. Obviously no one knew what happened in the seconds leading up to the disaster.

Also, he was divorced, so no, his wife wasn't cooking breakfast and screaming as it happened.

His 2 grown daughters weren't home, clinging to the dog and crying as it happened. They were off living their lives as their dad died. Their college roommates don't come and remember them every year because IT NEVER HAPPENED.

And anyone in the community directly affected by the actual deaths, they're like, THIS IS ALL LIES And the amount of people that weren't involved in anyway that say "who cares, it's a beautiful story"...

No.

A man died. Along with many others. And there are SO MANY tragic stories from that day where whole families DID perish. Young children. A mom who was grocery shopping while the rest of her family was lost. 3 men who showed up to help a new home owner set up her TV and propane and and water that all died along with her.

THOSE stories are real. But yeah "who cares" if Ai makes up stories and pictures about it, as long as it gets likes, views, comments.
