Pokemon Name Resource

In the past I have had trouble coming up with ideas for pokemon names, so I decided to make a place for them that won't be filled with "fat nurse" the Blissey or "butts" the Pidgey.

So by updating q in the next day or so I actually meant the microwave upstairs would trip the breaker my computer was on (despite being at opposite corners of the house???) and fry it, thus causing me to not have a computer at all. So, uh. I'll be back when I can afford a new computer lol

since she reminds of the harvest goddess in Harvest Moon: Animal Parade; who later reveals her true name if you decide to marry her.

Diddle Diddle - Ditto Fiddle - Kricketune Cow - Miltank Moon - Lunatone or Lunala Little Dog - Lilipup/Herdier/Stoutland, or Rockruff Spoon - Alakazam

One time I accidentally said “diddle” instead of “Ditto” and then me and my friends made a set of team names based on the old nursery rhyme.

“Hey diddle diddle, The cat and the fiddle, The cow jumped over the moon. The little dog laughed, To see such sport, And the dish ran away with the spoon.”

Since there are seven references we decided to get rid of cat or little dog since they were least important, and eventually we determined cat because it shares a line with fiddle.

After Pikachu’s voice actor, Ikue Ohtani. Especially applies to Gen 6 and 7, since Ohtani’s voice is used.

after the sumerian goddess of the underworld.

Chrys Ann - Lilligant

Short version of ‘chrysanthemum’,a type a flower.Chrysanthemums can be orange or pink colored and both Lilligant’s normal and shiny forms have an orange and pink flower on top of her head.

Jotaro - male Pangoro

After Jotaro Kujo, the character from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure whose appearance and attitude resemble this Pokémon.

The Arkenstone was the amazing gem and heirloom sought after in The Hobbit.

Hilda - female Deino

I dunno, it’s the name of the female protagonist in Black&White, where this guy was first introduced, and I thought it fit. Not much of an explanation, but. It just looked like a Hilda.

Herbie - Bulbasaur

I was thinking of a nice name for my Bulbasaur in Y, and apparantly Ivysaur’s French name is Herbizzare (did I spell that right?), so I just took the front part. Also, Kalos, so French.

Earthwyrm – Steelix

Earthwyrm is a combination of the words Earthworm and Wyrm. Steelix is partly based off of an earthworm, while also being based off a dragon named, you guessed it, the wyrm, which burrows underground much like the earthworm and Steelix itself. Also, Earthwyrm works because Steelix can learn three Dragon-Type moves: Dragon Breath, Dragon Tail and Dragon Pulse.

Named after the Yo-kai from Yo-kai Watch as they look strikingly similar

Camerupt

Camerupt Nicknames:

Volcanor / Eruptor (Camerupt has volcanoes on its back an explosive temperament. Both nicknames are great because they both reference these volcanoes.)

Laval (This nicknames only aimed at Mega Camerupt. Because not only does it have lava gushing out of the volcano on its back, it sounds much more over all)

Volcamel / Magmel (They’re a combination of “Volcano”, “Magma” and “Camel”. Personally, I think they both sound badass and they form great references to the volcanoes it has on its back)

Camerupt Facts:

Its body contains amounts of molten lava of 18,000°F, which erupts out of its humps if the Pokémon is angered. As shown in the anime, it can become uncontrollably angry when it is struck in the face. It lives in the craters of volcanoes.

Magma is constantly bubbling up from within its body. It has a deep hatred of water or any moisture, and has an explosive personality and a short temper. The volcano on its back erupts constantly in an effort to intimidate its foes.

Groucho - Mareep/Flaaffy/Ampharos

Groucho was the name of the real sheep once owned by Rick Deckard, the main character of the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, which was the basis for the movie Blade Runner.  Also, the Mareep family and their Electric typing is said to possibly be a reference to that very book, or at least its title.
