Itās true you know

Osaka Sunset in Las Vegas
It was really cold that night, I was not wearing a coat on though I was lightly dressed in a sweater dress and over-the-knee boots. My neighborhood really was misleading - it was not windy at all. We arrived to Chinatown thinking the weather would be the same. It was colder by 10 degrees, or so it felt like. Since I will be singing and dancing my heart out this night, my body will be keeping itself warm indoors.
The karaoke part was fun with my sisters and best friend of over 10 years. She was my high school best friend from the Philippines that also moved to the U.S. - We harmonized and sang to Billie Eilish, Spice Girls, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and other notable Pop/R&B superstars.
It was 11pm and our night was ending soon. But I wanted something sweet, I mumbled to my sisters we should get dessert and drove around Spring Mountain road. There was always one place open on a Friday night that was going to take us in and voila. We stumbled upon this restaurant I have been in before. OSAKA SUNSET.
We were greeted by Justin, awesome server. Look for him if you are visiting. He explained the concept of the restaurant and how the menu is currently being revamped.
Fresh Oyster Platter
For the four of us, the starter was an amazing shooter of Fresh Oysters with a berry slushy and lime zest. It was served per piece. It was refreshing as I was gulping down and savoring the moment. I wanted more as the ice on the slushy melted in between the sea taste. But we had ordered quite a few dishes and I was at 30% capacity of my stomach space.
Seafood Ceviche
A mixture of seafood, different sashimi, shrimp, and octopus cured in citrus and sauces sitting on a bed of greens was a palate cleanser. If your seafood was fresh as this, I think you would be delighted to have your tongue restarted by this instead of a fruit medley in fish oil which is your typical Japanese remise en bouche. It was also a good start to a meal.
Grilled Octopus Salad
was another tart and savory treat. The eldest sibling hummed "mmmhhh" while she inhaled the heat off of the tentacle pieces. The grape tomatoes were really sweet. Maybe I should ask for their produce supplier? Snacking tomatoes are something I learned in the U.S. because in the Philippines, Tomatoes are only used for salsa purposes or "dipping sauces."
Truffle Potato Pasta
Yes, that is not pasta but actual potato. The creamy sauce blended well with the potato. Surprisingly the texture of the pasta(potatoes) was like half cooked potatoes or hash browns. Very slight hint of truffle and I liked that very much. I do not like an overwhelming truffle flavor that hurts your throat.
Ribeye
Prepared medium-rare with grilled asparagus, shishito peppers, shallots, pink Himalayan salt, and wasabi salt. The peppers were not in season. Funnily, before I was informed of this, I boastfully told my table that the spicy of the bunch is only one out of ten. Both were spicy - because they were not in season. We ordered more Voss for the table and extra ice.
Laughter and jokes filled the table. My high school best friend was also both of my sisters' friend. She introduced us to the Twilight Saga books when my sisters were all 17, 16. 15 respectively. I had just started college then. Do you remember in one of the final scenes of the office where Andy Bernard says "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them." that was always how I feel when I remember good times.
The daydreaming was interrupted by an inquiry of our next course. "I want to try all the desserts!" I shrieked as I was reading the selections. Very unique and only Osaka Sunset-exclusive dishes. Will definitely go back for drinks and desserts.
Blueberry Tapioca
With fresh blueberries, Lemon-lime sorbet, and banana bread bites. I am a boba lover, the tapioca pudding-like refresher was a great blend with banana and a citrus twist. Who knew?
The color was pretty. Not justified by my harsh lighting and then I had a sudden flashback. Sister's favorite color was purple. It may have changed now. She had been expressing interest in neutrals. Oh, how the times have changed.
Green Tea Crunch
Cake with white chocolate shards and gold edible pearls. The whipped green tea part was amazing. This was about the sweetest of the three meal endings.
Generally, I try to stay away from any green tea/matcha dessert. It is a cliche flavor.
Green Tea Ice Cream.
Green Tea Bread.
Green Tea Panna Cotta.
Green tea KitKat.
Green tea shampoo.
Green Tea silk pajamas. LOL. You get it.
In more recent years. the cliche flavor was Ube. But that is a discussion for another day.
Birthday Tiramisu
Along with this beautiful black macaron and dulce de Leche whipped filling, topped with a chocolate-covered espresso bean. A scoop from the tiramisu cup was hearty. If I had more tummy space (in addition I was wearing Spanx) I would have finished the whole thing. The after meals were not too sweet. It was focused more on the high-quality ingredients and culinary skills.
We said goodbye to Justin, my youngest sister being the protector of me said it was a good night. It was. My heart was full as we exited the establishment and I breathed in the cold winter breeze.

Like a common thread, the bakery aroma pulls me.
The thought of something new is exciting. Sounds familiar? Yes, everyone used this phrase before.
I walked over not even 30 feet from my office to this French Bakery, name long forgotten by residents of this town. The area used to be where I feel like the early-Vegas age Spanish Trails, movie sets and people of status they say used to live here. Though I would not trust walking the empty streets at night.
Scanning the walls, to the floor, to the spaced out tables, and sincerest smiles of the employees, I took in a big breath of the bakery smells and I feel like I could go to France and live my life like Emily in Paris. My History of trauma and abuse would beg to differ.
āI want the croissants.ā I yelled out to the small man who turned his back on me because I took too long to decide. My brain was forcing me to apologize for the lack of communication to my server but I was not sorry. I was distracted - It was captivating, the aesthetics of the bakery display - wicker baskets and bread derived from a picnic setting whereĀ āfunā andĀ āfreeā floods your senses.
I want to do this everyday. I muttered quietly as some form of assurance hugged me and patted my ego completely disregarding the nagging thought of excessive carb intake, the walk to get to the bakery, and the free butter and jam cups to spread on baked goods.
But wait, if I need a drink and a bread to eat, then the price would be at least $15 every time. We also account for taxes and gratuity. It simply wonāt fly because I spend another $20 for lunch daily. That snapped me back to reality so fast. The aroma seduces you, similar to what they spray in malls that is very momentary and governs your mood. I chose to come here to the bakery, I chose to spend money, and I learned something about myself... I am gullible.
Oh and the butter croissants were heavenly.Ā
Each of these posts would have entries on my blog. There is always a story to every experience.
