Weekly update:

Lev: Lev's back. Honestly, that's the biggest thing for me. She hasn't told me much about what happened. She says she got caught in some sort of VR world with a slightly reasonable megalomaniac? When I asked her about that, she just said "no one died" and then also proceeded to try and reassure me that there was no risk of dying for her - cause of Rook - who was this spellcaster that Lev mentioned earlier before she went on that month-long mess. I think I bawled half the time and yelled at her for the other half.

And now the idiot is picking fight with gangs. Gangs with guns. I can't. I can't lose her. I need to figure out how to distract her in someway. Maybe I should reintroduce her to Crow - her once guardian a timeline ago - at the very least, I can tell Crow that Lev wants to be a vigilante, cause she has massive opinions about that and kids. It's a low blow, but I will not lose her again. She'll either be strong enough to overpower everything that's out there or stay put until she is ready.

Mads: So. Mads became a god. Of second chances apparently. And I also made a stupid mistake assuming that Mads would be accepted like Kris is. Needless to say, I was forced to reveal some things about Chi and myself to remedy it. But I don't regret it. I have a bad feeling that if I had gone with my original plan and waited... well, it wouldn't have been good for Mads.

Hopefully, he won't make the connection. I really am the most pathetic goddess apparent, and Chi is unfortunately dragged into my mess by virtue of being her.

I am concerned as to the sort of mannequin-like state when the World Boundary had thoroughly suppressed him. Is that his vessel? Like I've heard that angels were created - and that for them to exist in the mortal world, they require something of Malkuth - of the physical realm - a vessel to exist in. Well, this is assuming the angel he is and the angels I know are similar. But why is he afraid of other mannequin / puppet-like things then?

Kris: He's gone exploring into Chi's Dream World and will have an update when he's done. I hope it's a good distraction for him at any rate. And...I am curious as to why Chi is connected to that world.

...especially if it is that dream world I am thinking about - the one that Lev always chided me on wasting skill points on. How did it end up turning into a game?

Crowley: I'm glad to see that seaweed hell hasn't eaten her. What is a little ominous is her reply tags to my enormous crab MTG post. I hope this is just her "the horrors are normal everyday things" sorta humor - and not y'know having an island-size crab that needed dealing with.

Erna: She's probably the one I'm most worried about. I don't think I can stop it either. Like Lev said, if she's the only one who has not been called... she'll likely accept the Calling willingly next time it happens.

bookkeeperofthescions: Will need to ask in the next week if she needs help with anything. It sounds like almost all of the Scions are down and likely in need of life-sustaining treatment - both soul and body-wise. I might not be able to teleport stuff myself, but the BC's can at least transport things - even if they tend to eat the stuff they transport.

Yugi / Seto / Mokuba / Joey / Rook? : Seems like the card game squad has come back safe and sound - Lev did say that. I am admittedly a little bit worried about Joey given his inactivity, though I'm fairly sure if anything did happen to him, Yugi or Lev would've mentioned it, right? Like I keep telling myself that if the events that happened to them were incredibly dangerous, I feel like one of them would've mentioned it - and then I remember Yugi has a talent for understatement, and Lev's opinion of danger is that it probably has to be city-ending for it be on her radar.

Nata: It seems she went back to Seattle after the damage from the alien? person. Was it the right thing to go "no I will not bring them back?" I can't really say. I know that if Lev disappeared, I would do all I can to bring her back - I did do all I can, limited as it was. But for random people I don't know, I probably wouldn't. Life and Death and Reincarnation have its place - messing with those things probably created the term "playing god."

Lark: Seems to be going to school, I guess? He obviously doesn't like it. Should also keep in mind to refer to him as a witch and not wizard - he's made clear the difference in societal context. Might be some personal context to, given how vehement he is about the subject.

holyhappyhour: Have not seen a response from Le after her comment on the moon. Hopefully, this is just her doing her periods of inactivity thing. Not everyone treats social media as their journal after all. And not someone as cagey as her.

Wayne Enterprises: I do not know what they are playing at. Inviting me to a dinner I do not have the qualifications to be part of - and then inviting me to a partnership that honestly seems fair on paper for the vertical farming project seems almost too good to be true. All I can think of is that I somehow hit some sort of alarm when I started asking about developing caves in the area - an alarm that's present in pro-company, the water is now poison, Gotham. Are they worried about me doing something - or are they already doing something in the caves? I don't have the connections to go blindly investigating - maybe this partnership could be a bribe even. But that's less likely. There's a lot of stuff a multibillion dollar corporation could do to make my life - a millionaire - and my company miserable. They don't need to cater to me.

plushwave: It is hard to tell how much it is Rose's very bad sense of humor coming out or if she's actually being serious. Also interested in the set-up of her world as mentioned by her comments of "Qin." I have also learned that completely different cultures and countries prevents direct comparison of cultures and countries - like you'd think this is a given, but it's a lot harder to actually put into practice when half the stuff it sounds like should be common culture. Or at least that's what I think. Anyway, cares a lot for Aloisia clearly.

enqueter: enqueter. Because I don't think I've seen any mention of name on enqueter's posts. Has some sort of genetic-related powers going on utilizing ADAM and what's called Plasmid. enqueter is a private eye that deals with ADAM-related stuff enough to be a sorta expert on the subject - has a related ADAM power called electrobolt?Not much information as of late. Will keep any eye on.

Weekly update:

After getting "dog'd", I seem to have gained plenty of sloth from it. I have not been able to discern my particular species of dog.

It is troubling that the World Boundary did not block that magic, but at the same time, I think it will only block that which is directly harmful. That implies the Boundary has some ability to judge - perhaps a degree of intelligence?

It is tiring to focus. Rather just sleep. Waiting for Lev to come home. Maybe she'll come back this weekend. Show her that I am the dog that I know I always was instead of the fox she always claims that I am. That'll be nice.

The thoughts are going to be a bit disordered. Focusing as a dog is difficult.

The "Find Mokuba" crew. Crowley and Sarandiel have updated me on the situation. She and Siege and Comet are helping. There has not been any change in the Find Mokuba crew beyond their imprisonment into Virtual Reality Capsules? Given Lev was able to send a message, it is Minor-World-like, though she hasn't sent a message after.

Part of this is due to the 1 month ban that sketchyonlooker put on her for using the Indirect Chat wrongly. Still not sure who that it is. I thought it was the name of a Blank Canvas, but that does not seem to be the case as bringing it up to Chi gently did not yield any knowledge about it. The BC's seem ignorant, though they always act like that when they don't care about something.

Stil, the fact that she still registers online as < Mistral > is promising. She'll be fine. Everyone will be fine. Just gotta have Faith.

penofdamocles: Mads has accompanied me on my dog escapades, but I'll talk about that later. I'll start at the beginning of the week. It seems that having the shelter in the inn has worked for his mood - everyone's mood admittedly. His healing ability is pretty impressive on the stray animals - able to heal very acute injuries without a mark, which makes sense given if I recall.. he described his ability as some sort of temporal regression?

It doesn't work on malnutrition though, but my vets aren't for show - and Mads did most of the hard work anyway. We've put most of the animals that need more TLC on a special diet to expedite their healing. Most of those that have been healed have already left. Only some of the older ones, I suppose tired of a life on the streets, have stuck around. Luckily the animals that are attracted to the Inn are sapient and intelligent enough to sense its strangeness. It won't take much to train them to do the basic things like going outside to use the bathroom, bark at intruders, and of course sheepherding.

What am I talking about?

Anyway, when Mads accompanied me on my dog escapade, we went to the arts and crafts store, and it seems he is especially sensitive to the wooden mannequins, particularly if they are visible as such. He does not seem to have trouble with those that are online or already painted? He didn't seem to have trouble with the toymaker's final design either.

He also seems to be sensitive to the wood blocks, so things that can be made into mannequins. I forgot to inquire further - nor was it a proper venue to ask anyway - given that we went for ice cream and I completely forgot about it.

dragmaballs (Aloisia) and plushwave (Rose): They seem to share a universe. Possibly in the same house too. They come from a world where Communism is apparently Green, there was a revolution some time ago which made the nobles ex-, and a bunch of other interesting items that I will need to further evaluate.

Aloisia is someone I've been getting along with. Can't tell if it's because we have the same sense of humor that I'm not particularly allowed to express in my reality's public or just her rambunctious nature. We're gonna be part of a gang, apparently with plushwave if she is the second.

plushwave has an incredibly dry sense of humor with a tendency towards absurdist humor. She is a toymaker who seems popular, given that companies want her work, and she seems good with both handcrafting and the equivalent of 3-D printing in her world. I learned that the stuff Mads and I got in the craft store all went to her. She's been willing to play along with jokes despite the dryness, so not sure if she's one of those with a cold exterior, warm interior or something else.

thunderclapd (Æthelthryth) and cazadoradeluna (Myrah): Another pair that shares a shared universe, except this one seems to be more along the lines of their universe's defending force aka Guardians. Æthelthryth is as rambunctious as they come, and from what it sounds like, a handful for their more grumpier caretaker cazadoradeluna.

Their world sounds rather fascinating with something that sounds like resurrection into their role as a Guardian. At least that's the corollary.

Erna and Kalim seemed to have interacted, and Kalim appears to be the proud owner of a Carbuncle, which appears to be an unkillable summon. Let us hope that stays true.

dill-emma: I've been following this particular account, partially because I keep seeing that account with respect to all the multiversal Gothamites that I know. It is like watching a train wreck that I can do nothing about. Recently, the girl has lost her memory, and... people have been accommodating, even if they don't necessarily like her. She isn't one of my people, so I don't feel the obligation - but she seems fairly young, doesn't she? I don't know what to do. Unfollowing would probably make me feel better, and I know she has a support system that doesn't quite like her - and an even bigger support system supporting that support system. But at the same time, it just means I'll see the other stuff related to her without getting the full picture. Maybe I'll just say hello and test the waters?

Discussions with Chi involving the MMO world have been interesting. Though she hasn't stepped outside the boundary of the Inn, she figured out how to get the windows to show what the outside looks like. It's like one of those idealized old English towns with rivers and bridges. All clean and without the typical waste-disposal troubles for a city of that era.

There's a lot of alien lifeforms and humans there - many of them what we could consider high-fantasy creatures like lizardmen and such. Though creatures would be a poor name for them - they are clearly sapient and are treated at the same level of sentience as the human beings that accompany them. It is unclear if this is just a cosmetic thing or such.

Kris seems to have gotten involved, though I'm not sure to what extent. Chi is not very enthusiastic about the outside MMO. I suspect part of it is that it is unknown, and she'd rather keep to what's familiar which is the Inn. At least that's my theory; she hasn't actually voiced it that way - simply just stating she is not interested in going out.

There is a spinning ring in the road outside the Inn. People keep appearing and disappearing from it. I suspect it's some sort of teleportation device. I asked Chi to draw a picture of it, but it doesn't look like anything familiar. Might ask some of the others to take a gander if it seems familiar to anything they have seen or perhaps played as a game.

If it's a game, surely in this multiverse, someone must have played it either online or offline. And if someone's played it, there has to be some sort of walkthrough of sorts, right?

Chi's dream world is a big point of concern. It seems like an MMO, especially with the whole ability to send a Friend Request.

I do not like the idea of Chi going back into that world, but just ignoring something and hoping it doesn't blow up is not a very good plan either.

I'll probably need to make a public ask for advice if Lev doesn't come back soon.

...This may be related to why Chi isn't quite the same Chi as she was before. The secret is probably in that world, much like how secrets existed in the Subway Dungeon of prior.

The time distortion is a little inconvenient. Going back through seven days worth of Tunglr posts is not my idea of a good time, especially with Lev missing. At the very least, she sent something to indicate she's safe, probably during the whole frozen time business.

It does beget the question on who exactly is on Mokuba's account. No one seems... suspicious or anything, even with the whole abrupt changes. I don't know Mokuba as much as Lev does, so I don't know how much he gives into flights of fancy - not to mention that everyone I'm assuming who is part of the rescue squad has not messaged back. Sarandiel in particular has commented on Rook's (the one that Lev said will be there) absence.

Erna visited Chi, Lev, and myself before Lev's departure to help out Mokuba. Her visit involved figuring out what exactly happened to her friends back in her own world - where it seems that their souls were Called away from their bodies. Lev and Erna were really the ones who took the lead in that convo, given my lack of magical ability and can only find excerpts in the research that might be useful. It is comforting though that whoever took their souls seems to intend to bring them back, cause Lev is right on that regard - if the perpetrator was just stealing souls, there's no need to keep the connection with the body. Erna herself was a delight to have - maybe part of it is knowing someone came from a rural place with a knowledge of farming - country bumpkins meeting each other haha.

Æthelthryth (thunderclapd) is an interesting, if a bit violent, person. Seems to exist in a world where dying can be made into an inconvenience - though it can be made permanent. Very strong-sounding person, and the selfie I've seen sorta shows that. Attractive in a "I feel secure" sort of way. ANYWAY. I need to add that Æ symbol into the kaomoji section - or just her entire name in general.

Other updates.

Lex Luthor (hello-mrpresident) seems to have suffered an assassination attempt. He seems fine though, if a little irritated at the upped security. It's odd given that he's a superhero in his own right, so it's an assassin trying to take on a superhero with known superheroes assisting said hero (ultra-rage, Jester).

Bruce Wayne (somethinginthewayne) has encountered an incident where he dislocated a limb (suspected to be anterior dislocation of the shoulder, common things being common). As I've made an inconsiderate ass of myself earlier, I am a little reluctant on pursuing this topic further beyond concern.

Kalim. Missed the mentions of the Starsending ceremony if there are there. I can't go back that many posts without it affecting my waking hours and actual work. Will probably just ask Kalim with the excuse of time screwing up. The BC Potato came back with some sort of

Ember's...turned in a god? I'm not entirely sure what's going on in that part of the universe other than Ember deciding that his world has been in the crapper long enough. The video of the U.N. getting disrupted is mighty impressive.

Met Siege the day prior to Starsending for the sake of folding stars. Oddly enough, I expected to be a lot more surprised about seeing a skeleton in the Living Room, but I guess my brain's a bit wired towards the whole "just a physical shell" nowadays. Chi gets along with Siege - I was a bit worried that Siege didn't seem like he was treating Chi like...the original, I guess - but it seems to be okay. Maybe she's even more comfortable that way? I don't know.

Kris. He helped make stars with Chi and I for Starsending. I do have a feeling this dream world of Chi's would be up his alley. However, I want Lev's input first though as she is the one who is most familiar with Chi. I don't want to alarm anybody if this just happens to be one of Chi's quirky abilities.

Hinata - hulizi

Hinata, nicknamed Nata but not Hina, is a woman 26 years of age per blog description/header. Selfies usually involve her having a pair of large horns, curled like ram horns. It is unclear if this is a transformation or her natural form as her selfies also will show a more human form.

As of right now, she reports having damage in one of her horns - presumably left - which has resulted in a scab in her human form that was altered into an undercut. This is from a fight from an apparent entity known on Tumblr as damara. This still is inconclusive about which form is her "real" form as damage to a transformed state can also cause changes to the natural one and vice versa.

She knows Lillian from the past timeline, though how she does, I do not know. It's enough to prompt a "Nata?" immediately from Chi upon saying her username though.

Information is limited due to her sparse appearances and lack of direct interaction. Her terseness in her posts is also noted with less than 30-40 words a post, which is similar to holyhappyhour's usual word count.

Background:

There is surprisingly little background information about Hinata's world proper. I have seen references to Seattle - and from her recent posts involving the aftermath of the damara fight also Pike and Belltown, which likely means this is Seattle, Washington.

Given the same name of the locations, she likely shares a similar history to my world - and many other worlds. I suspect the hypothesized "Tumblr Prime" connects to worlds that have a similar history to it, though it does not explain the wildly different universes that I do encounter [see Ernastrel, Caligo]. I do not believe her world is where the main "Tumblr Prime" exists though - as that world appears to be entirely mundane aside from the obviously abnormal website.

It is unclear if she shares a world with Kris though. It may just be me projecting, but the way [ Kris ] is separated out in her post is similar to someone writing "oh god." What is known is that she reports having powers similar to Kris's - and being able to do almost anything Kris can do - anon's original question was along the lines of "weirdest thing done wielding kris's powers". Ultimately, that connection may be similar to that of a priestess to their god with said priestess being able to wield the god's powers.

Furthermore, it is unclear how common the supernatural is in her world. The fact people know that Hinata can revive the dead and can yell at her about it suggests that knowledge of the supernatural is fairly common (though people having powers is likely more rare) - it also means that people in her world are terminally stupid demanding things of an already tired, injured entity that has revealed powers that go above moderate powers (over a block's scale). It is likely Hinata has revived people before, given the response of others and them knowing how to expect as such.

Is the human form a cover identity then? Or is the horned form the cover identity like a sort of magical girl transformation? Is there a governing body for supernatural folk?

How common are these supernatural attacks? This may be similar to my world's situation with the whole supervillains and superheroes situation. Perhaps when a proper opening is present could the question be asked - along the lines if other cities have protectors like her.

Description:

Her writing style is very terse. As mentioned before, she rarely goes above 50 words in a post, averaging maybe around 20-30 - usually less though. There is usually hesitancy in her writing - and from what I've read, she has trouble with publicly speaking. These two are likely connected. The tone in her writing has a sense of emphasis and finality on every word - her terseness may be boosting that tone - like everything has been carefully chosen and that is all she will have to say on the topic.

She shows what Lev would call "aggressive optimism" - actually that was exactly how she described Hinata. Determined to be happy and have others be happy. I'm not entirely sure about the personal happiness part though - it sounds more like she'd sacrifice her personal happiness for the sake of others' happiness.

There's a dependence on others - for affection, for upliftment, for acknowledgement. She seems to judge herself based on her usefulness to others - gauges her own worth through that criteria. This seems to go far deeper than having service as her language for affection though. May be related to the hate she has for her birth mother as mentioned on an ask.

Her humor either involves playing the straight man to another's joke or utilizing deadpan. The former is seen multiple times with her interactions with cavalarbor. The latter is usually seen her "good morning" related posts but can be seen with her interactions with Kris (usually a combination of both).

With the aggressive optimism, there is a tendency towards kindness in her posts. At the same time, she's what others would call "silk hiding steel" when it comes to others and even herself on occasion. It would be a mistake to consider her soft.

There is no doubt in my mind that her threat against people harming her city after damara's attack is real. Furthermore, when the local anon party decides to direct aggression towards others, she often is there disparaging those anons. As for herself, she's more polite with terrible questions directed at her; repeated awful questions result in a less polite refusal before eventually a complete refusal to entertain the anons further.

Her claim to being able to do almost anything Kris can do likely puts her at the deity level. Given that Kris could be considered top-tier on that list (not that I've met many deities beyond the Radiance and the Templars' god), she's likely somewhere in that range. Given my brief familiarity with Kris's powers, this would likely include multiverse travel, kinesis, matter construction, beam attack (I guess?), Impose? ( does that power even work anymore in a world mired in Reality? Lev's issues say no.), clairvoyance? Reviving the dead? Is that in Kris's repertoire too?

It's interesting that she didn't comply with that request actually, given her service-oriented nature. Cost seems very unlikely unless the cost is towards someone else. Or maybe a fundamental belief of letting the dead stay dead? Harm to the universe when bringing people back to the dead? The "It's not my place" and "I don't have that right" seem like the authority for life and death belongs to someone else - may have been discovered from her first time to revive people?

Miscellaneous:

Hinata has three fiancés/girlfriends, an adoptive mom?, and an adopted daughter as mentioned in discussions.

She has a father and a younger sister. Birth mother seems to be out of the picture now.

She knows how to cook and can cook in large batches too.

Considerations:

I have to say that I'm glad that the connection between Kris and Hinata is a friendly one. Because the alternative would effectively pit me against my own nature given what Kris has done for me personally. And that would just be annoying to deal with while writing this.

Anyway, the elephant. Her dependency and need for acknowledgment are not something that I personally can solve. It can only be solved through the people closest to her, and truthfully the problem may never get solved - like an Idea that becomes someone's core. If that's the case, it's up to the others that are lucky enough to have someone so affectionately loyal to them step up to the plate and give her that acknowledgment and worth she needs. I mean, my powers of observation are not unique to me. People must've have noticed, especially the ones closest to her.

As for money - if she wanted money, she could've had money.

Providing a safe haven in another world is likely pointless to someone like her. Her safe haven is where her heart is. She will not abandon her home so long as her loved ones are there.

Do they even live in the same world normally though? I know in-inertia seems to be elsewhere most of the time. The other two do likely live locally. Chances are they may have similar capabilities to her - will need to figure that out before additional considerations.

Maybe invite her and her loved ones to Lev and Chi's party when I finally get everything settled with the World Boundary. Probably learning a little bit more about her hobbies would also help when she becomes more active / recovered better from the attack on her city.

Negotiation Considerations:

Not wasting waking time simulating negotiations with anything close to the deity-level.

Meredith Crowley - creepy-crowleys

Meredith Crowley is an agent and archivist of the Illuminati in her world. It is unknown if this is the same Illuminati that is rumored to be in my own world or simply that they share the same name. As for references to Bees, it seems they are related to how she was empowered, but this is not fully confirmed.

First contact was when I suddenly started having multiverse Tunglr access after three years of buying the failed company. Crowley introduced herself as Lev's friend, and Lev confirms this. There is a respect there, which makes me assume that Crowley has strength in her own right, though scouring her blog has not yielded many demonstrations of it - may need to eventually deep-dive her archive later.

Background:

Crowley's world is hard to pinpoint in the supernatural versus mundane scale of things. Her description of her government's response to rogue vampires suggests that the higher-ups do know about the existence of supernatural beings, but the common populace does not.

It also appears that the supernatural factions are powerful enough that harm to the common people can be disregarded as the price of standard operating procedure. This view appears prevalent enough that it seems that Crowley has mostly accepted it, which does somewhat go against my read of her.

Probably a self-defense mechanism. A means to stay sane by focusing on fighting the evils she can reasonably deal with. Her world sounds like there's so many powers at work that actually chasing after every perceived evil in her world will just end badly for her - either through exhaustion or getting crushed.

Multiple factions are described, primarily from the Sargasso Sea Events that Crowley has chronicled in detail. There appears to be a Council of Venice which consists of three factions: Illuminati, Dragon, and Templars. And the Templars have an antagonist relationship with Crowley's faction. Scale of influence of the Council of Venice is unknown: is it based on region? country? world-wide?

Bees refer to a group of people including Crowley and also a separate entity at the same time. She references other factions collecting Bees as well through this particular ask. However, given Crowley's boast involving the unlikelihood they can send something to deal with her in reply to my reply, it's clear there's probably different degrees that "Bee" can empower a person - or they augment what's already there.

As mentioned earlier, Crowley's work involves both archiving and direct intervention. Per her discussion with Kaiba Seto, it is focused more on disaster management and occult terrorism, which would explain why she's dealing with some sort of hivemind algae-based entity now.

Will continue scouring for more background at another time. I forgot why I didn't continue past Seto's conversation the first time. Stupid stupid.

Description:

She has two writing styles. The first style is her more casual style when she talks to people she knows on Tunglr - a little bit on the amused dramatic side, like she's humoring you, but there is still genuine interest. Her second style is more of an expository style - I suppose that is the archivist in her speaking where everything turns more matter-of-fact and analysis.

Her humor is a combination of deadpan and general silliness that tends towards surreality. The humor tends to come out more when someone else presents a dark topic pertaining to her - similar to Lev's motto of "any near-death experience older than six months is fodder for jokes" - the deadpan is mostly deadpan simplicity / underreaction - this is referenced by her response to fuckingshutup's question with a: "Imprisoned cosmic horrors. Celestial body-sized, reality warping, etc" and her other response to the favorite meme question. She does use humor outside of awkward situations, so this is likely how her humor manifests as opposed to it being used only for deflection. It would likely be a bad cue to determine how anxious she is because of it.

Not sure her recent references to crabs are part of her humor or from dashwatching. The wider Tumblr's sale of "online crabs" are likely skewing observations.

The degree of power that she has is unclear. I was not able to naturally bring the conversation to that topic when I was asking Lev about her friends and whom I should contact - to let everyone know she's alive. It's probably lower than that of a deity's given her rather mundane concerns, but I am certain her power is far more than most people in her world - the fact she is able to establish a safe zone in a region that sounds like it would brain people suggests a high psychic resistance similar to Lev's Fourth Wall.

She has a foundation in some sort of magical science which revolve around something known as Anima - maybe an alternate name for Mana? The brief glimpses of conversation I saw from lastlycoris suggests that she has multiversal travel capabilities (reference to coords), which may be related to the manipulation of anima (as she claims to be able to use it to anchor a region to space).

The need to get groceries suggests mundane needs and that she still has relatively human? physiology. This includes human-level intelligence, though naturally at the higher end of it given profession and likely aptitude. She can have fits of pique, semi-regularly from the sound of it, though that can already be seen from her brand of humor.

The question to human? physiology is due to her apparent resistance to airborne toxins. Is she using equipment to filter the poison out? But I'd imagine she would've mentioned it in her discussion with fuckingshutup when that person wanted to come along to observe the crabs - using a reply like "I don't have another set of protective equipment unfortunately." I'm going to assume she has significantly higher physical resistance accompanying her mental one.

Miscellaneous:

She has Pokemon. I don't really know how to process this.

Unclear how the Orochi Group fits into all this, though it sounds like they're a source of many problems. It doesn't help they sound like a conglomerate, a powerful company, that is actively collecting people like Crowley. It is unknown what Samael? - a higher-up? in Orochi Group - is doing but that Crowley has some agreement with his ideals.

Considerations:

It is difficult to make considerations with so many unknown elements, but she is ultimately one of Lev's friends. Chi's too, I think. And maybe mine by proxy versus actual friendship? So the information gathering for considerations will naturally continue.

It is unclear how loyal she is to her faction. Does she stick around because of people potentially stronger than her or that Bees have a method of control (probably? not, given how I'd imagine she'd be more disgusted by them when being referenced as one but cannot discount)? Or does she genuinely believe in their cause? She mentions the pay is good, and the availability of lost knowledge would certainly appeal to any archivist.

There is a brief mention that the town and potentially whole island that Crowley lives on is owned by her employers too - also mentions of another Meredith (a second timeline?) and potential family. So this likely can be a means to control her too.

The whole timeline resetting is problematic. She however sounds like she has the capability to jump universes if she has to, so she hopefully won't be ended by it if it comes to that. However, last thing I remember from my timeline ending was the world effectively being < Stopped > due to the concept of Time being irrevocably damaged. I suspect the only reason why I could at least think through it despite the physical immobility is that beings that have hit the deity-level at least once are mentally unaffected by changes in timeline (that's my theory anyway, explains Lev's ability to retain her memories despite her "trip" with the Radiance). I do not have any countermeasures or solutions to deal with this effect physically though - Kris or Mirielle might though. In any case, I could broach this topic with Crowley once we're closer - she might already be aware of this and have a solution.

It also sounds like she has visited other universes too, so whatever a Bee is does not actively restrict her from universe hopping. Will need to ask what a Bee is in detail - if it can be used as a killswitch, that may be a problem for getting her to initially escape.

The World Boundary here might be helpful to resist such an effect, since a kill-switch would definitely count as something negative coming into the world - similar to Mads's anon magic involving obedience. I could potentially invite Crowley to have a room in the Inn when I finally figure out how to lower the Boundary enough so we can have a party with Lev and Chi and Mirielle and Sasha back - or sooner (it's actively resisting Mirielle's entry).

Hmm. I'm not entirely sure how much Crowley likes to fight though. If she's forced to live here, she'll probably lose access to many of her abilities given the World Boundary acting as a hard limit to supernatural powers. Will she be fulfilled living a mostly mundane life? Or will she be like Lev preparing for the next disaster?

At the very least, I should probably look into jobs involving museums and archeology to give her options for the potential future - if she decides this world is the best option. Does she particularly favor a certain country when it comes to history or does she like all things equally? Does she favor primarily mythology or anthropology? I have a feeling she may like more exotic locations also.

I guess future questions should revolve around that.

Negotiation Considerations:

I suspect high-society locations would be to my advantage. She seems far more of a boots on the ground type of person than an actual politico and policy-dictator type. It has to be the correct sort of fancy like modern fancy as opposed to more traditional / ethnic fanciness - the danger she might actually recognize the associated culture may give her more small talk options / references to use.

Appealing to her sense of the greater good may be effective. She is after all going after this deadly hivemind spewing airborne toxin.

Whether to use logical or emotional arguments... It is hard to determine. I want to say the emotional would appeal more to her than the logical, given how she'd prefer being an agent to a desk job. But she is also an archivist.

Bullying and intimidation tactics won't work. I am very sure that anything I say or do would be a drop in the ocean compared to the intimidating things Crowley has experienced.

Silence however will likely work. Especially if she makes a joke to ease the tension - to make her feel like she just caused a social faux pas. The above bullying and intimidation may not work, but making her a fish out of water - and that I am doing the best thing for everyone in the negotiation - will probably be the best approach.

Attacking aggressively from a position of higher negotiation power may end poorly unless I really have an absolute advantage. I have a feeling that doing so would cause her to dig in and become more defiant - I suspect there has to be a reason why Lev respects her so much.

Kalim al-Asim - oasis-makcr

Kalim al-Asim is a student at Night Raven College, which is likely a prestigious school given Kalim's personal identity and further descriptions of it. He is the heir of a founding family, which is part of the Sultanate / government. Beyond the initial contact and some reply and answer interactions, we have not interacted all that much, though the stuff I do know is interesting.

I suppose that's what happens when we throw 5+ paragraph replies at each other.

Background:

It is unclear if Night Raven College is at the Scalding Sands (where his family is located) or a different location altogether. All I know is that the college sounds prestigious, for powerful folk simply do not send their heir to a second-class place.

Just the name of a single class of their school suggests to the degree of how much their Magic has been made into a Science: "Abbreviated Spellcasting in Ancient and Modern Magic: Changes and Comparisons." Most magic from what I've read on Tunglr is taught in terms of broad topics - Abjuration, Elementalism, etc. Something hyperspecific like that suggests that there's a genuine effort to understand how magic works. It's hard to determine how advanced the coursework is using my own world's education system, given I don't know Kamil's age, but the fact Kamil was in a class called Practical Magic at the time and his friend Jamil (assuming closeness in age) is in the earlier mentioned class suggests this AHA likely is closer to an elective class of the same grade level.

The fact that magic can be fused into technology also suggests advancements in turning magic into a science. He also mentions having a laptop and batteries, so the technological level is equivalently modern-age technology - whether they have microchips or a magic equivalent is hard to tell.

Part of this development may be related to the fact that magic seems to be relatively common when compared to the presence meta-humans of my world. Assuming Kamil's family is representative of the total population, 1 in 35 is close to 3% of the population.

The presence of Blot - some sort of corrupting force - is a strange factor when it comes to the usage of magic though. The name sounds like it stems from the presence of Ink. Which makes me wonder if the whole Magic being associated with language is related to the generation of Blot as Ink is like the written word. There's little data though - I can't be drawing conclusions from the name of a classroom and a cursory explanation of magic.

Description:

Kamil sounds like a kind kid?young adult?adult. It's hard to discern his age. There is an immaturity there, but there is also a core of steel hidden underneath it. He knows that indentured servitude is wrong but doesn't have the means right now to change it - and is willing to change it when he is finally at the family's head.

I doubt the power transition will be peaceful. He's too passive. One might argue too kind. I suspect his bad time in RSA - which likely is another academy - stems from those two things. Someone was likely causing trouble for him, and he didn't respond because he seems like the type to endure things when it comes to himself.

Assuming he is as open in his world as in Tumblr (bad assumption but you never know), the troublemakers were likely smart enough not to target other people or his friends because that would be counterproductive to showing Kamil as weak - since he will likely respond - and show what a great ally you get by befriending him. He probably got moved to Night Raven College, both as a way to keep him safe and to make connections.

He is not very confident. Or at the very least unwilling to accept compliments.

Writing style overall is casual with an emphasis on conveying his emotions through writing. There are plenty of variety in punctuation marks and ellipses.

Considerations:

The consideration here is to figure out how to keep him alive during the likely shaky transition in power. Given that I am not a magical spaghetti monster that has the power to cross worlds, what I can actually offer is limited.

Given that he's in the equivalent of a boarding school, he was likely given enough money to show off his wealth but not enough to actually make proper investments.

As for advice, I feel "you're too nice" or "you need to be more suspicious of people" is rarely wanted or even useful. It won't change his inherent nature, and frankly it's an unpalatable option for me.

The best thing to do is to increase his circle of friends, whether it be from his world or from Tunglr. More friends mean more options. Just as he can make up for what they lack, they can make up for what he does, especially since there are far more ruthless people in this world than there are kind.

He is likely in a way more valuable to his friends than his friends are to him in that regard.

Kindness is just as good a weapon as cruelty; that is because most people believe in reciprocation. You show me kindness, I'll show you kindness. You show me enmity, I'll show you enmity. Showing kindness to the right person can make you a loyal ally for life; showing cruelty to the wrong person can make you an eternal enemy. Starting off with kindness first also gives one the ability to take off the psychological breaks afterwards; this is why every organization that is trying to root out traitors will offer genuine mercy first - because once that offer is declined, they can kill any traitor on the basis that they gave them a chance.

Anyway, I digress. I do believe that making friends is likely the intent of his father sending him to school in the first place.

Negotiation Considerations:

Bullying tactics honestly. Show overwhelming confidence and power with a slightly raised voice. Aggressive body language such as leaning in, bared teeth grin, etc. If my read is correct, so long as the negotiation isn't for other people and just involves him personally, he'll probably won't be able to negotiate well, heir to a merchant family aside.

Of course, I could be smacked by a hidden depths scenario, but that's the sort of thing I'll probably be able to pick up by a meet-up in person.

Anyway, if the negotiation is for other people, bullying tactics will likely backfire badly. He likely will negotiate with someone else rather than deal with someone who threatens his friends. So instead, play the part of the ally.

Logical arguments will probably be a more potent weapon on him - I suspect he may be conditioned to accept them - I doubt I'm the only one he told his aspirations to help his indentured servants too, and those people would likely beat those ideas down with their so-called logic.

Strawman arguments - mischaracterizing his arguments - takes advantage of his inherent hesitation. Bandwagon arguments will likely do the same - the whole "this has been done for x amount of time, or do you have a solution then?" - if he's not doing anything right now while feeling so strongly about his beliefs, he's likely the type who wants to have a perfect solution first.

Maybe getting a proper list of logical fallacies may help him. At least give him a better idea of when someone argues in bad faith aka not intending to win through their argument but other means.

Caligo - caligoascendant

A demonic-looking humanoid entity named Caligo that is control of a location known as the Tower. First contact was made through an Ask rather than the typical meet or greet of a mass follower @, which made said meeting different from others. There is not much information currently due to the briefness of our interactions.

Most information is garnered from his conversations with the people I've followed.

Background:

His world Theatrum for the most part is wholely different from mine, centered on the entity called the Tower. The Tower has multiple floors (at least 1540) which appear to have their own microenvironments and/or specific creature races - Cooking Cats, Clowns (if that could be called a race), Scuttlers, etc? The purpose of the Tower is stated to bring about change and improvement throughout what appears to be the multiverse, though it is unclear what they are striving to improve.

Honestly, it sounds like a bit of a cult centered around self-improvement. But given I haven't seen any of it in action, it's hard to make any conclusion. I also suppose I can't judge this place being a potential cult given Nameless's actual origins.

Of note, there is branded Merchandise from the Tower -- a symmetrical golden symbol that is mostly two horns merged together to resemble a crown. Whether this means if his world actually utilizes money (as opposed to barter) or whether the Branding is a form of acquiring attention is yet to be seen.

Addendum: The fact he uses Branding may actually be an important point, given his likely identity as a god. Attention through a Symbol could be a means of acquiring Faith through Worship (which means I have to keep an eye of any possible symbols appearing). Another possibility is that he simply wants acknowledgment for his deeds, which may be a weakness. Not one I can exploit, but it's something.

Description:

He writes like a thespian. There is a definite flair for the dramatic - a lot of exclamation points, expansive vocabulary, and use of staccato. His writing is definitely intended to be read with a certain flair.

He has a fascination with culture, particularly of other societies. Whether it be people's music, fashion, games, flora, or fauna. This may be related to the cultivating of his Tower.

He also has an interest in seeing people grow - tales of trials and tribulations and fate - which again feeds back into the purpose of the Tower. It makes one wonder if that is his Aspect - as gods tend to have an Idea that they embody.

His level of power is probably similar to that of a god, given that he declared a whole place as his World. Gods as a whole seem to like to do that. Actual extent of his powers is unknown though but likely includes some sort of planar transport (at least my understanding of it).

Though his power seems to be on the level of a deity's, his actual mental processing power seems to be little better than that of a human though - or at least in the fields of games or paperwork. There is also an apparent need to go on vacation, which suggests he does suffer from mental strain - or at the very least there is a limit to his interest when it comes to doing scutwork.

Miscellaneous:

He has a lot of kids, specifically the number of 778/780, known as Scuttlers. The kids seem to have a form similar to a small plush. It is unknown if Caligo has a similar biology which the plush would grow into or if they were made. Biology unknown.

Negotiation Considerations:

Difficult to consider. And I refuse to do this, mostly because negotiating with a god-level power with my own meager abilities is a fruitless endeavor.

And I don't like wasting my waking hours on fruitless endeavors.

Ernastrel ( Erna ) :: witchofthescions

A self-proclaimed adventurer of a universe extremely differently from mine. She is part of a group known as the Scions, which appears to be defenders of her world but mostly in a region called Ul'dah?? Further delving into her blog will have to take place when there is less work to deal with. Having Chi around has significantly impaired my focus for work, but that's neither here or there.

Background Information:

Ul'dah appears to be a world where magic is the rule rather than the exception. A series of posts where it seems Erna is talking to herself is the anecdote for that; I suspect she is replying to either Levant or Lillian given there is a conversation going on, but I cannot see the other posts. However, it seems that magic does appears to be innate to people, except for a certain people (Garleans), but it actually requires teaching. (I'm a little jealous.)

Technology level is difficult to ascertain, but it's enough to interface with Tunglr. She mentions Magitech at one point, which likely is the means of how she reaches the website - different from an artifact-like item such as Mirielle's Torn Notebook. From the sound of it, there are large regions of non-civilization, nothing like suburbia, between large population centers, which have a tendency to be more technologically advanced than the surrounding area.

Should inquire more about transportation in her world - teleportation, motorized vehicles (steam, oil, etc), horse-drawn carriages.

Her origins appear to be from a place called the Farreach. Given the name, it is likely that she is considered a foreigner to the area she currently lives in. It is a tactic of many civilizations to treat themselves as one side and everyone else as the other to give a sense of belonging, though the circumstances that have done that likely no longer exist as Erna seems relatively accepted in Ul'dah and perhaps even famous.

Description:

She is a farmer or at least comes from a rural area. That tang in one's voice, even in writing, is difficult to fake. This information is confirmed by Levant when I casually asked about all her friends. It may be a little stereotypical of me to think of this, but you do not get that sort of sturdy reliable appearance by just being a mage...probably. She likely has some sort of martial ability too, because she said she needed to be taught magic - and one doesn't travel from a place called the "Farreach" without some means to defend oneself. These are a lot of assumptions though.

Her writing style is very fast paced and very casual. There's a lot of utterances such as Ha and Hm in her writing, so she likely speaks the way she writes. There's a bluntness that's refreshing, though typically with that sort of bluntness, there's the expectation that people should reply genuinely in kind. Fair play and all.

In terms of money, the fact she is aware of her own weekly grocery bill probably puts her ahead of a lot of city dwellers and second-generation rich. The mention of going out and gathering extra produce on her own suggests a strong ability to forage - especially since she doesn't do it if "she's not in the mood." I suspect she's fairly well off through either her adventuring or her association with these Scions. She's probably more of a savings type of person rather than an investing type of person though.

There's a bit of recklessness in her. It may be related to being a very strong person in her world, despite everyone having some degree of magic ability. Likely part of the woman's headstrongness, most likely.

Miscellaneous:

She's good with kids, which could be related to having a big family. Hard to tell if she's an elder or a younger child. Given her independence, I'd put my money on the elder child or even the eldest child.

She's also friends with Chi and Lev despite not having met them in person. Lev makes sense since they have similar personalities - women who prefer action but can go into intelligent mode when necessary. Chi is a bit more difficult thing to pinpoint, mostly because references to Lillian's relationships do make her a bit uncomfortable - and I'd rather not distress her. The memories do seem to become hers though - and she responds more to gentle probes. Could just be related to how Erna gets along with kids.

She mentions gods in the plural.

Considerations:

Adventuring, I'd imagine, is a dangerous profession. Given that the dangers Erna face are so bad that a group is dedicated to fighting them, there is unfortunately a high probability that Erna could be killed or put out of commission permanently in the future.

Though I doubt these Scions will leave her to flounder - a group such as theirs is likely close-knit- the future can't be predicted. Not to mention that if she is permanently put out of commission, the Scions probably won't be doing much better either. Farming is likely out in that case as an alternate profession.

Investment in real estate is likely the best thing to start with depending on how much liquid assets - gil - she has. The fact she can consider 300,000 gil for a bar of soap as simply excessive but not unattainable is suggestive that she has a significant amount from adventuring. Assuming a few hundred gil could be considered up to 500 gil and 52 weeks a year, she had close to 12 years worth of food. Gil seems like a common term for gold - hard currency - so it's likely the money is tied to the value of whatever it is on, thus more resistant to inflation (assumption, need to ask). Dollar equivalent is likely around 60 thousand dollars, so that bar of soap does seem more than excessive - or I am miscalculating.

Given the significantly lower population densities, land is likely cheap - but only the land in the cities is safe given the wild-dominant world. I doubt an apartment / rentals will catch on this world. Maybe an inn or bar of some sort. Erna likely does have some degree of clout with the government for a smooth transition, though how much I don't know.

Investment in precious goods - probably the most valuable things would likely require a high amount of ability given danger - Erna seems like she could probably get them. But the point here is to disconnect her income from the need to adventure.

Investment in technology or perhaps in education - she knows several engineers and schools. Transportation and weapon technology would be beneficial in a world that is more dominated than wilderness than anything else.

Crop and food preservation research is another thing, particularly the latter. Do they use salt primarily or ice magic? In a world that could potentially use ice magic for refrigeration, will techniques such as brining or fermentation have developed? It's difficult to say, and chances are they probably do - not everyone learns to use magic - but it is a question to ask.

Even outside of a bleak future, equipment and magical reagents are likely expensive. Putting the money to work through investments would generate some passive income that would offset the costs. If the Scions pay for the upkeep, that is more money in Erna's pocket just in case something bad happens.

Should ask if she obliquely is capable of doing things like a craft if she is ever grievously harmed. This may help with ideas for money gaining. Erna unfortunately does not seem like the type who will sit idle, even if out of commission.

Negotiation Considerations:

The most advantageous setting here will be high formal with all the etiquette that is required - from silverware, to the kind of food, to the rules of what should be worn. Chances are it will make Erna feel awkward and out of water, and that is the point.

She is likely good at negotiation as a function of being an adventurer and acquiring compensation for tasks - to underestimate her based on her more casual speaking style would be to my detriment. Her ability to gather information is unlikely to be any poorer either, because information is likely connected to her being able to preserve her life. The best thing to assume is that she is better than I am at negotiating.

She'll likely utilize a more stubborn style of negotiating. She will give a price and stick with it, citing personal reasons why the price can't get lowered. If she is the one who wants to change the price, she'll likely badger forcibly for her target price.

She seems like the type to lull into a mistake if she's angry. But the cause has to be very specific. An anger that disrespects her will likely cause her to drag in her heels - negotiations will end at that point unless the cost involves lives. Directing her anger towards a specific target, an injustice, would be helpful - she seems like the type of person to settle for a lower price if the task is aligned with her morals.

Emotional arguments would appeal to her better than logical ones. You don't go after region-sized disasters by listening to logic.

Companies and their People of Interest::

Wayne Enterprises ::

Wayne Enterprises is an international conglomerate with a net worth of over 300 billion dollars. It is a company that was private, made public briefly, and became private again [ see Lucius Fox, self-reference and Wayne Industries goes Private again [6] ]. Its roots are here in Gotham City. The enterprise is separated into multiple divisions ranging from shipping, chemicals, manufacturing, health care, aerospace, and entertainment. However, its crown jewel is WayneTech, its research and technological arm. One could also consider it as its military arm.

Within Gotham City, Wayne Enterprises employs around 150,000 people. This means they hire around less than 1% of the city's population. My numbers might be wrong though, given how many divisions Wayne Enterprises has and not all of them named after Wayne - so this might be updated as needed later.

Note: Part of the reason why I had confidence in entering Gotham as a business is because out of all the divisions it has, Wayne Enterprises does not actually deal with supermarkets and groceries. Yes, there is a Wayne Foods, a less known subsidiary of WayneTech, but it is more for food and agricultural research. Otherwise, my approach might need to be reconsidered.

Bruce Wayne ::

The current owner and majority shareholder of Wayne Enterprises is Bruce Wayne. Orphaned at a young age, Bruce Wayne disappeared off the radar for several years only to reappear as a celebrity socialite and later take up the mantle of owner of Wayne Enterprises.

Tabloids love him, given how he hooks up with a new guy or gal almost every week, sometimes both. He's what you would expect from a guy born into a whole lot of money and not afraid of it running out - using it to make a spectacle of himself. Taking a dive into a pudding pool is one of his most recent spectacles on Twitter.

Despite his wastefulness, he isn't all that dislikable. Sure, he says some really dumb things like how last week he was surprised that people wait for clothes to go on sale to buy them. But he's never done anything particularly evil. No news of Bruce Wayne humiliating others, making people do things against their will, or endangering the public. And he's also established the Wayne Foundation, which is the largest, transparently operated, private foundation in the nation.

However, he is more ambitious - more dangerous - than he looks, given how perfectly he regained control of Wayne Enterprises after his reappearance. Of course, he also had Lucius Fox by his side the entire time, but a normal person would've just settled for getting his company back into private domain - not create a situation where he becomes the majority stockholder by far. It's a little bit of buried history given that it's over a decade old, but it's available if you look for it [ see Lucius Fox, self-reference ].

Note: Random thought. He probably will get canceled on Twitter someday, not through an immense moral failing on his part but through a dumb "let them eat cake" statement.

Lucius Fox ::

The current CEO and President of Wayne Enterprises. Since Bruce Wayne seems determined to never work a day again in his life, all of the work falls onto his CEO's shoulders, and he manages to do so spectacularly. To be fair, I really doubt Bruce Wayne would've helped much, given how competent Lucius Fox is - and I suppose Bruce has already done enough given how his shares were required to prevent a hostile takeover and the general philanthropic direction of the company.

Lucius Fox was known for his consultant services prior to his current position. Both an excellent businessman and entrepreneur, he is known for having the "Midas" touch and has a track record of working with failing companies and turning them into powerhouses in the industry.

There was a period of time where Wayne Enterprises ( Wayne Industries back then) was turned into a public company over a decade and a half ago, a decision made by its Board of Directors due to waning profits, as Bruce Wayne had not reached the age of majority to participate in the shareholder vote and wanted nothing to do with the company management during his time abroad - the shares he inherited from his family were considered absent for voting purposes. Lucius Fox was one of the many consultants for the public transition and declared that taking the company public would be dangerous for it. His warnings were left unheeded.

His predictions came true after a couple years when the board of Wayne Industries ended up in a proxy war with several prominent Gotham families and Reddick Industries through their undetected purchasing of stock through shell companies. Lucius Fox, having advised against the public offering, was again consulted, and he advised bringing Bruce Wayne back to participate in the shareholder meetings and votes which were to be done in person (a time before Zoom was common).

Bruce Wayne was recalled back to Gotham City. His 15% of stock was key to preventing a hostile takeover. It was around this time that Lucius Fox and Bruce Wayne got acquainted.

Over a period of four years, Wayne Industries lost over 60% of its value due to the in-fighting. The Board of Directors revealed themselves to be greedy which was why they went public in the first place, and the only reason why they hadn't accepted the other offers was because they believed they could milk the cash cow which was the company. Mass layoffs were a regular thing, and chunks of the company were getting sold over to the highest bidder. Eventually, in the face of potential bankruptcy, even the Board of Directors started selling their stocks at a premium.

And then all of a sudden, Wayne Industries makes an announcement that Lucius Fox will be the CEO and President of the company. And Lucius Fox declares in a public interview that Wayne Industries will be delisted - made private again. It is there that it is revealed that Bruce Wayne owns over 60% of the company and has agreed to the transition (this percentage later turned to 80% after the minority shareholders realized they would no longer have a voice in the company).

The rest is history. Wayne Industries becomes Wayne Enterprises, and Wayne Enterprises becomes a multi-billion dollar international powerhouse known for cutting-edge technology.

Note 1: I suspect Fox and Wayne did what the other Gotham families and Reddick Industries tried to do to Wayne Industries except better. They likely bought the stock of the hostile party through shell companies and then continued to pretend to be hostile to the company, constantly exerting pressure on the Board of Directors. As the company stock plummeted, members from the Board of Directors decided to sell too - and they'd buy up those up as well, naturally pretending to be the company during the votes. They continued to keep a delicate balance between the two with neither party realizing they were getting played. Once there was no chance either party would get the majority vote ever, that's when Fox and Wayne decided to reveal themselves. It's pretty ballsy. To be willing to watch the company bury itself into the dirt and have the confidence to bring it back up again.

Note 2: I want to poach Fox. Yes, I'm aware I don't have anything to tempt him with. But I still want to poach him. But if I can poach him, that'd mean he isn't loyal - and my desire to poach him would drop immensely despite Fox's talents. Such a dilemma.

Meta-humans ::

The new world's version of Exotics, I suppose. There's quite a number of them, though they are far less in number compared to the Exotics of the past world which probably amounted to 0.1% to 1% of the population - which equals 10-100 million people being Exotics.

According to LexCorp research [ see A compilation of case reports and extrapolations on extraordinary humans [2]], the number of metahumans that exist ranges in the low millions and maybe down to hundreds of thousands. Furthermore, not all meta-humans are created equal. It is estimated 60% of meta-humans are what people call "spoon benders (derogatory)" and "candle lighters (affectionate)", essentially their powers are very weak and don't really amount to much. Sometimes, being a meta-human manifests in physical changes such as development of a canine head and physiology.

There are meta-humans who derive their powers from magic or divinity supposedly, but they are in the vast minority.

It is unclear if any meta-humans utilize the Impose / Idea method for affecting Reality. Their powers appear to be purely biological and grounded in physical law for the most part. It is said that meta-humans can be detected through epigenetic changes in their DNA, which would explain why powers are not inherited.

Batman ::

A masked vigilante whose main area of activity is Gotham City; he is the most iconic vigilante of the city. It is difficult to pinpoint when Batman started becoming active as eyewitness accounts are unreliable, but the earliest accounts of the "Caped Crusader" are over a decade ago.

He is not the first person to take up the moniker of "Batman." There is an earlier vigilante who was a Bat meta-human back when Gotham City was known as Gotham Town. However, he is certainly the most successful one.

It is unclear what sort of meta-human Batman is. References to many of his adventures - and saving the city of Gotham - all have a common characteristic - that he is a one man army, and he has survived and beat impossible odds. Some say his meta-human ability revolves around luck, others say he has limited precognition given his uncanny ability to show up the right time. Whatever ability he has does not express itself visibly.

A notable characteristic of Batman is that he does not kill. Ever. Not even by accident. Most of his blows to incapacitate enemies involve breaking and dislocating limbs cleanly if he can. Headblows are rare, and looking at the rare video caught of his fights, he avoids blows to the side of the temple if he could help it and will go for jaw blows for knockouts. Other takedowns will usually involve tranquilizers. With that sole exception, he has not been seen using a firearm. Though there have been lawsuits made against Batman for accidental manslaughter, video evidence - usually by the many fans of Batman - usually gets that thrown out.

Static ::

A masked vigilante of special interest, given his ability to wield lightning as a weapon. His operation range includes the area beyond the Gotham River and into continental New York proper. Unlike Batman, Static's entrance into the superhero world is less shrouded in secrecy. Part of a superhero cadre known as Titans, he and the rest of the group as well as additional heroes from outside were responsible for beating a machine overlord-style attack involving many of the Smart Devices in NYC [[ see Tesla Stocks Down After Entrapping and Driving Cars into Buildings at 130 mph / 200 kmh [2] and Remote Temperature Control Raising Temperatures to 110 degrees F / 43 degrees C [4]]]. Though the perpetrator was never found, the Titans were able to stop the broadcasting device causing the Smart Devices to malfunction.

Static is of special interest because his electric attacks only seem to incapacitate, even when blasting someone point black with his powers. This is in contrast to Sasha, whose powers only seem to have only one setting which is lethal. Is this because Static has a finer control over his power, which allows him to prevent frying people or is there something else going on?

What seems to contradict this is that while Sasha can fly omnidirectionally with her own power, Static seems to require some sort of disc underneath his feet which his power acts on. Then again, Static has only been active for a few months on the East Coast. He may reveal other powers, given that Static's operation range sometimes intersects with Batman's [ see Static seen flying into Gotham City, diverts explosive-containing truck from civilians [3]].

Gothamites ::

Gotham is a melting pot of culture and all walks of life. From food to music to clothing, there's quite a number of "Little" versions of a country or culture for people to visit. And for larger places such as Chinatown, the people living there do not even need to speak a lick of English to survive, given the population is large enough to support only needing to know Mandarin and perhaps Cantonese alone.

Gothamites as a group are wary people and a little smarter than a typical city dweller. Unlike denizens from other cities, they place a lot of emphasis on their own safety. That means not going to known bad areas (East End), not taking risky shortcuts like unfamiliar alleyways, don't be out past midnight if you don't need to, etc etc. This is likely due to the rampant crime, primarily robbery. Though robbers will not typically target Gothamites individually, usually tourists.

Note: The typical Gothamite carries only up to $30-40 in hard cash at best. Likely, the most valuable thing on their person would be some jewelry, their cellphone, and/or a laptop.

As for socio-economic class, in Gotham, the poor come for the opportunities, the middle class come for the wages, and the upper class come for the lifestyle. Approximately 20% live below the poverty line, which is approximately $35000 in 2022 (average national is around 14%). This number is expected to get larger in 2023. Part of it is the wage stagnation and job availability. Unemployment rate is around 9%.

Even the largest employer of Gotham citizens Wayne Enterprises only employs around 150,000 people out of 20,000,000. And as most people who visit Gotham come to enjoy the lavish city lifestyle, most people who are employed work in the service industry, which can change drastically given whatever area a supervillain or crime gang decides to devastate one day.

Big Business ::

Almost every single major brand can be found in Gotham. The Diamond District houses Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, H&M, etc in one convenient area. There are also branches that can be found through the other districts as well. Industrial companies such as Wayne Enterprises or Reddick Industries also have their headquarters in Gotham.

As can be expected, the local government leans heavily towards Big Business. That is because it is corrupt. And it is public opinion that the people up top are corrupt and cannot do anything about it because they either cover their tracks well or will bring down too many people if they were to go down.

Gotham is not pro-labor. Police often will stand on the company side when it comes to dispersal of a strike. Locations have been shut down, just for something as little as a rumor of a union vote [ see Gotham Ironworkers Union vs Gallium, ruling in favor of Gallium [1]]. People overall are intimidated into not using their rights as a worker, given that the city will provide almost no help. And there are just many barely legal things that a company can do to make their workers lives miserable.

[ Reddick Industries vs Alan Thorn ] A Glassdoor Review that Alan Thorn, ex-engineer of Reddick Industries, discusses the "lack of safety protocols and appropriate training making it dangerous for employees to work in" had been in the public eye after Reddick Industries filed a libel lawsuit and successfully won the lawsuit for $3,000,000 after Gotham City Inspectors found no evidence of Alan Thorn's claims. An appeal was filed but canceled after Alan Thorn did not show up. Reddick Industries claims no foul play, only stating that Alan Thorn likely knew he was going to lose and decided to skip town to avoid paying the suit.

Crime ::

Gotham is known for its crime rate, being in the top ten for robbery, felony assault, sexual assault, grand larceny, and murder.

Robbery in Gotham usually does not involve the common citizen. Most robbery involves stealing from supermarkets or stores outside the Diamond District. When firearms are involved, they usually involve high value targets such as banks, large companies, or armored trucks. Part of the lack of citizen targeting is because citizens do not carry much out of precaution - and that there is an easy-to-dial 217 number for credit card cancellation in the city of Gotham. A lot of cellphones are also made by WayneTech and include a GPS tracker that could only be removed by breaking the phone. So it is not very cost-effective to target a Gotham citizen for robbery, not when there's a good number of tourists instead to target. So the only time when robbery targeting citizens happens if it's en-masse like in a train.

A lot of the felony assault and murder involves people in East End and some of the outer districts / Docks. Most of it is gang-on-gang violence, and the police will often ignore the most crime-infested areas or arrive there late when all the fighting is done. The reason why police can get away with this is because of a very strong police union, who insists that the average policeman is ill-equipped to fight a "supervillain" who could be laying a trap in the area. Unfortunately, there is precedence for their claim [ see Scarecrow Incident [2]].

The murder rate is usually normal for a city of this size. The only problem is when supervillains get involved - and then the murder rate spikes (similar to that meme about Spiders' Georg).

Note: In my honest opinion, the worst crime that happens involves companies exploiting their workers, and the workers not knowing their rights or scared to use them. Example: There are managers in some of the service industries that have convinced their waiters and other staff that they are entitled to a cut of the tip pool.

General:

Gotham is massive for a city, much like the Nameless City that came before it. Approximately 20,000,000 people live in the city proper amidst 330 square miles. That is approximately 60000 people per square mile, making it one of the most densely packed cities in the world. Many people come to Gotham looking for opportunity, but most find they are stuck there unable to leave.

The city and district itself are composed of multiple large and small islands with the larger islands providing most of commercial and residential areas. It is connected to the continental United States only by two tunnels on its west end and one tunnel on its North side. Many commute to the city by ferry, crossing the river.

Swimming in the waters, both river and harbor-side, is unadvisable, given the amount of illegal chemical dumping that occurs in Gotham - [ see Poison Ivy retaliatory eco-terrorism [2]].

Public Transit:

Public transit in Gotham is one of the most advanced in the world. The subway system is the only one that runs 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and can swiftly take you from one end of the city and the other or to popular areas like the arena. Buses are a little bit more complicated to use, given the large number of routes that overlap, but most people get by just fine.

There is a bit of a culture shock when people try to call for an Uber or a Lyft but are unable to find one here. This is because such services have already been made illegal in Gotham City due to the rampant crime - and massive lobbying by the Gotham Taxi Driver's Union.

Of course, one could still drive on their own. The roads are many and well-maintained. Only when one starts going towards East End or Park Row (more colloquially known as Crime Alley) do the roads start showing signs of disrepair.

Food:

Like most cities, Gotham City imports its food from other places, usually by both sea and road. Should either transport route break down, the other could still accommodate, though after a week or two, people would have to start rationing but they would still be able to eat three meals a day.

Should both break down, Gotham City probably only has around a week of food at full rations before 20,000,000 people start to go hungry.

Though there are urban farms in Gotham, they are mostly rooftop farms. The largest is perhaps half an acre across two buildings and more meant for educational purposes than for supplying food.

Water:

Note: The water in the rivers and docks near Gotham is not potable. Distillation would be the only solution if one wanted to drink it. Boiling and using chlorine tablets will protect one from immediately succumbing to disease, but the chemicals within the water will likely result in severe consequences in the long run. It is like drinking poison to slake thirst.

The city has approximately 15 reservoirs and 3 man-made lakes to supply drinking water. These reservoirs and lakes and the machinery that distributes them are heavily guarded by a coalition of police, PMCs, and private security. The heavy guard is primarily due to the Scarecrow incident [3], which utilized the drinking water as a vector and immediately resulted in hallucinogen-induced riots that killed thousands. Hundreds of thousands more have been severely affected to this day, whether it was from the hallucinogen used or from their own actions. It is a particular reason why psychiatrists are still in demand now.

The compromised machinery affected the districts in the Diamond District, Gotham Heights, and Grand Avenue. Given that it affected the most affluent regions, the machinery was replaced quickly, and water was diverted from East End and Park Row to help deal with the district need. This act significantly increased tensions between the rich and the poor.

Weekly notes 6/30/2023:

Lev: Been testing Impose with the assistance of Sylph. Results have not been promising; admittedly, seeing her fail makes me feel a little relieved. The moment Lev starts really finding a direction in earnest is likely the moment she'll probably be getting into a lot of danger. I haven't really mentioned Crow to her, though she'll probably be reappearing in the next week...I should probably warn her.

Chi: Still do not get her unusual drive for school. Why school specifically? She does not seem to understand her own reasons or just doesn't want to tell me. I'm hoping school doesn't disappoint her...

Kris: His godhood is unusual in the sense that he retains his human characteristics. Usually, gods embody a concept such as rage or order - etc - and are usually engulfed by it. Just goes to show that the multiverse makes things different.

He however can still get bored, tired, listless, etc. Not sure what I have to offer - other than letting him go ham here. And though he does enjoy hanging out with Chi and Lev, it's probably not -fulfilling- he mentioned he likes to feel useful - probably to feel like his extraordinary powers - and potential suffering to get it- had purpose. I mean, I guess letting him deal with crime here would be useful - even if he's restricted by the World Boundary here, he still has the experience and technically can't die for real. It's not like this is the world I knew anymore, and the circumstances that led to the first timeline imploding are not present anymore.

Stupid Radiance. Stupid Dream.

Madison Ruarc (note the name change): He seems to be doing better after encountering two annoying bits of anonymous magic, which is concerning. Is he being targeted because he is an angel or is it something else entirely? The second one seems to be particularly ill-intended/problematic requiring someone else that I cannot recall off the top of my head to partially halt the effects.

He is currently living with some sort of entity known as Sarandiel - or at least was in the same room at one point - they seem non-hostile. What is of concern is that it does not seem that Mads may have his place of work anymore, which he seems to derive happiness and comfort from. He also doesn't like being off-world so-to-speak. Maybe create something that doesn't really require a time requirement here - like an animal shelter here with his assistance welcome as needed?

Chi seems to have already attracted another dog to the Inn on her walk with Lev. So we now have a chicken, 2 ducks, 2 dogs, and two cats (even if one of them is a ghost).

Random note, I am just going to admit this in the privacy of my own head.

I think it is an utter shame Gotham did not employ the Nameless City's stance on dog killers.

Erna: Met one of her friends online, Tataru. From the sound of it, considerations would likely have to be modified since it sounds like there's someone on it. As expected Scions is a close-knit group. Learning Erna having the capability to fight the equivalent of gods in her world is also surprising. Seems to be straining herself in regard to her comatose friends though if convo with Crowley is any indicator.

Crowley: Continues to deal with the hivemind algae thing. Lack of online presence is likely secondary to that. Her plan is interesting in that there's a way to somehow restrict said algae thing to make it seem like it is an ordinary, if probably toxic (red algae blooms?) algae. Makes me wonder how many supernatural things are being hidden in plain sight.

Hermes / saintworks: Still not sure how the "Datalight" went past the World Boundary, still theorizing. He is currently finding a new planet? to inhabit. What's left of his company after the attack seems to be a whole bunch of misfits and malcontents that are working together for the mutual sake of survival and potential new business.

Not quite sure how to approach, given Datalight for some odd reason passes through the World Boundary for no reason. The whole "don't want to draw attention until I figure out what's going on" to the "I can't figure out this person who bounces between rational and guns-glazing" to the whole "cross between AI and human body with some sort of very high-level technology that can pass as magic in any other world.

At least his cafeteria sounds decent. And they have food and housing. Safety, not so much.

Bruce / something-in-the-wayne: Upon my review of the dashboard later at night, he suddenly got very serious when talking to a kid that seemed like she was self-destructing and apparently entering into a dangerous situation. Probably because he's a father himself.

Other than that, not much changes other than some interesting advice from his own perspective as starting out with his inherited company. Which is useful. Unions could be used as a means to deal with annoying shareholders - the problem is I don't have any shareholders for them to deal with. Still cross-training is an interesting concept. No one really aspires to be a grocer after all. I can believe Farmer, but...grocer...Anyway.

And apparently he started using Grindr? again?

Not much happening on his front.

Nata: She seems to be healing from the wound she received (cracked horn) from Damara. And whatever aches and pains she's been feeling - perhaps just from a strenuous day - it seems that even deity / near-deities can still have aches and pains, though Kris also does prove that. Seems like Hermes can port things to her world too. She seems to be doing fine hopefully.

She does singing, which is interesting, though it does not seem like often enough - and the act itself has a special meaning to her.

Yugi: Introductions with Sarandiel have revealed some more of his hobbies, though the favoring of analog games over video games is expected. Seems to be more of a social creature, willing to do more things outside of his comfort level, if his friends are around. Friendship seems to be a big thing with Yugi - companionship and all that. This is assumed to be the main Yugi and not the other Yugi.

Clarification on the "Island Sinking." - so Yugi is not as dangerous as Lev made out. Lev made me believe that Yugi summoned a monster in a duel that accidentally took out the island with it - either that or this was just her exaggerating, which is likely.

Siege - strikingskeletonsiege - Backtracking on the dashboard - was likely one of the sources for Chi picking up the Flesh Suit thing. Also of note, Siege knows Nata - at least assumed given how he commented how Nata gets really stupid anons. He has a very lively personality as seen in his introductions with other people.

Lex Luthor - Earth-3 :: An interesting note that Lex has dill-emma's father's phone number - and used it to make sure dill-emma would be retrieved safely from a Joker (clowningachievement). Not much to report on this front though beyond that. He does note himself to be primarily doing meta-gene research and biology? except the way it was put like there's a supernatural element to it.

Lee (ultra-rage) - Well, his username matches his demeanor to say the least. Sounds like Lex really has a handful with him - sounds like that Ultraman (father?) really made a very bad impact on him. Superpowers and being easily provoked are not a good combination unfortunately.

Provocation seems to primarily stem from the feeling of being mocked? Or pointlessness. There's just a lot of disproportionate aggravation with his interactions involving dill-emma.

Has a soft side with Dove. Guess every lid has its pot.

Nightwing - slightlylessdarkknights - Haven't interacted much beyond the initial encounter. Seems to share a universe with thedarkestknight? and maybe kalkalicious? The times he is on, I suspect he is on patrol in the city as a superhero. Has an interesting mindset when at work - that everyone can be redeemed, and I'm assuming he is someone who will not kill another criminal.

His post (assuming again about dill-emma who is the inciting force of this week) is likely referencing her about how he cannot stand being drowned out by someone else. He doesn't like people who don't listen.

Ember and Jack - emberoops and cyberneticlagomorph - Linked due to the interaction. It is interesting that Ember works for Jack in some sort of "desk?" job. And that Ember gets PTO for an unspecified surgical procedure - or maybe it was specified and I missed it. But apparently he can divide into multiple bodies with a shared? consciousness - does having one part work and three part recreation memories lower the strain due to the proportion or amount of time lived?

As for Jack, apparently a somewhat lax boss who gives decent PTO. The kids are interesting, especially Egg who seems to be like in the terrible twos stage or something but perpetually. Jack is managing though. His world is especially interesting too - the Moon producing milk? Talk of fae, etc.

Miscellaneous: I'd been under the impression that Grindr is a branch of the Tinder dating website. I am technically correct. It is a dating site, but it is one that caters to the LGBTQ+ community. This explains Bruce's, while maintaining some level of jovial, somewhat taunting / somewhat "shame on you" posts.

Alexander Luthor - hello-mrpresident

The President of the United States in his universe, which he calls Earth 0. He keeps his political image in mind when it comes to certain topics, but when it comes to other topics, he will show a very strong stance despite the political controversy. It makes me wonder about whom he is worried about monitoring him on Tunglr or if the political environment on his earth is completely different from what I expect.

There is a very clear diplomatic air and a matter-of-factness that is subtle but present to his writing. He writes to maximize clarity and to prevent misunderstandings. He has a tendency to elaborate when he doesn't need to, which again goes back into the need to clarify. If that trait was not developed due to his profession, there may be some bad personal history there.

His sentences tend to be extremely long as a whole, even when split up based on its independent and dependent clauses. Assuming he types as he speaks, this tendency may be related to his profession as president or his status of billionaire - he does not worry about people not paying attention if he speaks - and thus can afford to keep his sentences long.

His writing style does change when he gets flustered or talking about his kids. His sentences get short as if he cannot afford the time to think and must act, despite the online medium. In regard to his kids, the change in cadence may be related to the fact he feels like he may not quite understand them as much as he wants to? It feels like there's hesitancy there.

His argumentative tone tends towards disappointment rather than anger. More of a lecturer. There is probably a belief that logic should win the day, but he seems capable of cutting his losses. This style of arguing is likely related to his work in research to help his son.

However, his response to becoming angry is probably similar to Lev in a way - they get sharper when they're angrier, as if adrenaline fuels their ability to consider all the angles. An intellectual's rage.

His humor tends towards the deadpan and potentially the absurd, and he will use it to deflect an awkward question he knows he can't politely deflect away.

Miscellaneous:

In hindsight, his sentences got much shorter when I asked him about his hobbies.

His sentences also got shorter when talking about his kids. This could be useful in terms of breaking conversational momentum.

After testing various voice pitches with his sentences, he likely speaks in more neutral or even lower pitches. It maximizes the carrying power of his long sentences.

He uses "I" a lot but not in the manner of a egotist. This is likely related to his diplomatic nature - "I think, I don't think" - trying to make the other person know it's his opinion.

Difficult to determine how much power and influence he wields in his universe, but given one superpowered son, his money, and his power suit - and the ability to go head-to-head of a "Crime Syndicate" which likely represents a bunch of superpowered people, it's probably considerable. Doesn't really matter much to me though, since I'll get squashed by everything and everyone.

Negotiation Considerations:

Location should probably take place outside typical restaurants or locations housed by the rich or famous - no five star restaurants, no country clubs, no golf carts, and definite not anywhere near the U.S. Capital. A more exotic location may prove more useful in getting "home ground" advantage or at least reducing it to neutral.

Despite his comments to the contrary, he probably can wield his image pretty well. Being the President is an incredibly imposing weapon after all. It is difficult to determine if he will offer to close the "distance" so to speak such as "call me Mr. Luthor" as opposed to President Luthor, but assuming his sense of fair play on Tunglr is real, he would probably offer that if I call him President Luthor first.

He's probably more of the patient type regardless of whether the negotiating power is in his court or mine. He's willing to let someone else do the talking at first - and to trap them with their logic. Any argument used around him must be ironclad and well-researched. From that perspective, I'll be at an a disadvantage since I am not that scientifically smart.

He likely can't ride out a silence very well though. I don't think the lecturer in him could take it.

He does seem the type to get into the zone the more he talks, and once he gets going and assuming he speaks like he types, the fact he uses long sentences as his default will make it difficult to get a word in edge-wise without outright interrupting - which is a faux pas in etiquette.

In other words, if I talk, I fall into the game he's best at, countering arguments. If I don't talk, he gains both confidence and momentum instead - which increases his negotiating power.

I should note silence can be used periodically as a weapon on the negotiating table, given his need to clarify. Psychologically, it may shake his confidence and make him believe his argument is weak if I use it.

Appealing to emotion may be better than the logical argument in this case.
