I think that alphard and Orion were Irish twins (born in the same year) but Orion was the younger one, and even though it was just by a couple months that still secured him as the spare. His life was defined by entirely. He never saw his own father. His mother was not maternal, though she did smile at strangers. His sister and him were close, contenders for the most normal sibling relationship in black family history. But Alphard and Orion were not normal. Alphard was a loose Canon. one moment he was violent and angry with Orion. He’d beat him to a pulp and hold him down while the next he was kind of laughing. so much light in his eyes when he kissed Orion on the mouth. Nothing more not that Orion would allow. Orion didn’t want to be a faggot I like Alphard was. But as the heir to the family and the older brother he got away with everything so whatever he wished to do to Orion he did. and Orion wasn’t weak enough to speak up.

When Sirius came, Orion hated him already. Older brothers were horrible. vile. Vampire creatures that took and took and took, left you bleeding and dirty and never came back.

But when regulus came, Orion didn’t know. Would regulus be like his sister? His mother? No. No no no. regulus looked like his mother, had Orion‘s father’s eyes (orions eyes), had Alphards moles. In regulus, Orion could see his mother without that idiotic smile. He could have his father’s eyes on him. He could be in control of Alphard. And he could be loved by all three of them. Respected. But with something new. In regulus’ eyes, in what of him that wasn’t comparable to anyone else there was a wonder. A feeling. Something no one else could give to Orion. That made him feel drunk. And Orion loved being drunk.
