A Love of Adventure | Rapunzel & Belle
Rapunzel was curled up in the corner with a book in her lap, eyes wide as they moved quickly back and forth across the pages. She drank in the story, grinning goofily to herself, and was lost to the book until she realized there were soft footsteps approaching her. She blinked out of the daze she’d been in and looked up at the woman who had greeted her.
"Oh! Hi! I didn’t um- I didn’t steal your spot, did I? Or am I in your way?" Rapunzel sat up and looked around for a moment before hopping up altogether just in case. It was more appropriate for her to greet a stranger while standing, anyway, rather than from her spot on the floor. She smiled sheepishly at the other woman. "It’s just too easy to get lost in a story sometimes."
Belle let out a giggle in her surprise. “Oh no, of course not,” she answered. She was so thrilled to see someone else in the shop that he hadn’t known what reaction to expect. “Not at all. You see.. there’s just not usually anyone else in here,” she admitted. Looking her over, it was easy to see that the other girl wasn’t from around here. Belle was sure that she would have remembered someone with such long hair.
“You don’t have to explain that to me,” she smiled before offering her hand. “I’m Belle. Are you passing through town?” she asked curiously, hoping that she wasn’t prying too much, but it was so nice to have another reader nearby.
