Parallels between Moulin Rouge and OP"
I really wanted to see Moulin Rouge for a while, I managed to see it over the weekend and many things reminded me of Sanami, firstly it was Nicole Kidman's first appearance, she sings the song: Diamonds are a girl's best friend
I found it so funny how she is ambitious and is fighting for her dream of being an actress and even more so with the music that reminds her a lot of Nami, and how her romantic partner is madly in love with her while she is madly in love with money, she gets confused he's with a duke and ends up trying to win him over.
It's very funny how he doesn't know how to flirt with her, but when he declares himself and of course sings (the film is musical) he manages to express all his love and talks about how beautiful love is and well and she says that love doesn't save her from the streets, that she doesn't believe in love, this is their second scene together and I thought the elephant detail was funny, because the first cover where Oda had Sanji and Nami looking at each other and laughing a little for the other it was in Zou's arc and the scene of the main couple in Moulin Rouge declaring themselves is on top of the elephant.
After watching the film, I saw that there was fan art of Nami characterized as Santine (Nicole Kidman's character), and I saw that Sanji's voice actor had already sung Moulin Rouge for a special op DVD, and that Oda in choosing the song track At the time of Whole Cake there was the Moulin Rouge song sung by Christina Aguilera, so it's something that Oda probably likes. Moulin in French means mill and it's funny that the first arc of the op takes place in a place that has a mill (romance dawn), and Nami's tattoo resembles a weather vane because of Genzo, in addition to the fact that Bellmere is a name in French that can mean both mother-in-law and stepmother.
I loved seeing the parallels or am I just going crazy that I'm seeing sanami everywhere
I just had to, the whole “She’s Barbie and he’s just Ken” fits them so well :)
damn it nami also yay for an obvious parks and rec reference
The winter is coming 👀
Sanji the Devil - Possible connections?
Sanji has been connected to the Devil throughout the whole story and I hope that he will have some type of relation to the Devil Fruits. But at the very least his character has been connected to the devil for one reason or another. And now it seems likely that his family could be some kind of “rulers of the underworld“ which once again relates to hell and the Devil.
So this is just a little extra post on the subject, since there already are some posts about it if you want to READ MORE.
First we know Oda has shown Sanji to be a goat (or ram) and God uses the goat to symbolize evil in numerous instances in the Bible. (This part about goats is quite long, but I think it describes Sanji very well.)
“And He [Christ] will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.” The sheep are then given eternal life, but the goats are cast into the Lake of Fire.
Interesting to note is that most of the time we see Zoro on the right side of Luffy and Sanji on his left. Sanji could be seen as Luffy’t “left hand man”.
What is it about goats that causes God to use them in such a negative light? Let’s look at some characteristics. Goats have many admirable qualities. They are intelligent, sensitive, playful, quick to respond to individual attention and affection.
But there are also many things to fear. They are experts in opening gates and squeezing through small gaps because they hate to be confined.
Consequently, goats are not very good followers. “Gregarious behavior” is a term that refers to the flocking or herding instinct which is found strongly in sheep, cattle, and horses. Again, this quality is rather weak in goats; they prefer leading or going off on their own.
The Goat is a sure-footed animal that is as much at home on mountain slopes and mountain tops as it is on flat ground. In this aspect, the Goat is a Symbol of agility
The male Goat, because of its reproductive prowess, is a Symbol of virility, vitality, potency, and stamina.
Medieval legends say that the Devil created the goat. Satan himself often appeared with goat’s horns, and sometimes changed his shape completely into a goat. The Devil having a goatee beard, like Sanji, is also very common…
So I’m sorry about this goat lecture, but does it not sound a lot like Sanji? Also we’ve of course heard both others and Sanji himself use the word devil to decribe himself.
This is interesting and it seems like Oda has had this idea from the very beginning and possibly means for it to have a big impact on both Sanji’s story arc and the story of One Piece as a whole.
When it comes to looks, even curly hair is often seen as a sign of the devil, (though more on women considered witches). And also because Angel’s are often decribed to have blond curly hair and Lucifer is a fallen angel (lol, if Sanji was from a family of fallen tenryuubito it would fit so much, but I doubt it since it would be a Doflamingo repeat.)
Sanji also transformed into a devil and uses fire as a base of attacks and even uses names like Hell’s memories and Diable jambe.
Something I’ve found interesting is that Sanji seems to respond to strong feelings of love or hate in situations where he refers to himself as a devil or when he uses fire. It’s because Nami’s been kidnapped he first explodes out of fire. And I think that Sanji’s fire powers will be explained more, since Oda included this part.
Here he says he’ll become the Devil of the blue sea if Enel dares hurt Nami, not caring that he is a “God“.
I again find it interesting that Nami seems to be related to many of Sanji’s “Devil moments“ and considering Nami’s reaction to Sanji recently I wonder if Oda might after all have some plans for Nami in perticular in this year of Sanji. I think it would be rather interesting and I personally hope that the Vinsmoke family is somehow connected to the Devil Fruits. (Again, their pattern is pretty much Sanji’s eyebrow…)
I hope this is what Oda has in mind for Sanji, and it could even explain why the Vinsmokes have leverage over the world government. And I still find it suspicious how Sanji had a book about Devil Fruits as a kid… But knowing Oda, he could have a whole other idea behind Sanji’s devil references. Maybe he just thinks of himself and his family as devils because of them being murderers?
And again, IF this guy is Sanji’s dad, it would aslo fit with the whole “pitchfork“ of the devil thing even further.
Ehem, it can also be called Devil’s fork…
For now I will stick with Sanji kind of thinking of himself as a devil (a bad person, as he pretty much looks down upon himself) and ask you guys what possibilities you think this theory has? Possible Sanji x Nami moments and more of fire Sanji! Talk to me! ;)
I saw this post today because I was looking for parallels between Sanji as a demon and I think it's a curious fact that Nami has such a strong affinity with Skypiea and the sky, even how she managed to ride that motorcycle very easily and because we don't know who They are her biological parents and it's a funny moment (Sanji already called Nami an angel)
I think it's funny that sanji only uses the suffix san for nami, and in the dub it's so caricatured that sometimes when he's very in love it sounds more like "swan', which is a fun fact because bon clay disguises himself as nami in alabasta and he's represented by the swan and in mythology swans are seen as symbols of grace, beauty, love, fidelity, purity, transformation, wisdom and royalty, in my opinion he sees her as a queen, and with great loyalty it is no wonder that he always returns to she, It's always her, it will always be
In case of emergency...
In case of emergency use Sanji as a Shield
I kept thinking that Sanji wouldn't want to have biological children for fear of his genes being passed on to his children and Nami would already want to adopt children like her mother, is it too much to want these two together in the end? oda I know you don't want romance between the nakamas but every day I wanted more sanami endgame
Nami does something weird to the Vinsmokes
The ‘emotionless’ and evil Vinsmoke brothers who are said to be completely heartless who don’t care for anyone, not even women, yet when it comes to Nami their emotions come out. More specifically to her too, they didn’t care for any other women like this. You could say that this was just for a gag but I don’t think so.
And the kind and generous Sanji who is the exact opposite of his brothers turns almost like them when Nami is hurt, a heartless demon. Once again we have only seen this side of Sanji when it comes to Nami. Nami really brings out the other sides of them.
Look at how happy they are to see the other
They’re so in love
I’ve done a few posts before about the similarities between Sanji, Nami, their parents, but I have many more ideas
-Sanji and Nami-
-The only people they were really loved were their mother and sister
-Although their sister could be mean to them she ultimately meant well and is still alive
-Their mother died protecting their identity
-They made money growing up from selling food
-They have a dream that they decided that they wanted to do ever since they were a small child
-They have been training in their skills ever since they were a child
-Connection to the sea
-Connection to food
-Bellemere and Sanji-
-Both of them saw Nami laughing and instantly fell in love with them
-They have dedicated their lives to protecting Nami
-They cook
-Nami and Zeff-
-Very violent to Sanji
-Always hits him when he’s being perverted
-Soft spot for kids
-Will never leave a hungry/young person in need of help (Sanji also never leaves a hungry person but he got it from Zeff)
-Bellemere and Zeff-
-Both were on of the large opposing sides of One Piece (Marine/Pirate)
-They both gave up what they did to take care of a child in need
-They can be rude to their adoptive child but would do anything for them
-Had to give up something in order to protect them from a big deal pirate
-They both cook
-They both sell food
Anything I missed and should add?
It's so funny that Oda chose Nami's mother's name, a French name that means beautiful mother-in-law or beautiful stepmother, while Sanji's mother's name, Sora, means sky, and knowing that Nami and Sanji don't have their mothers alive makes me so sad 🤧🤧🤧🤧
One Piece
Chapter 1091 (spoilers)
The way he always handles things with her with such care, even if it's just to take her weapon in the middle of a sudden attack…🥺
On the other hand, it has been pointed out that Sanji's reaction to seeing Stussy seriously injured is very striking. What any reader would expect from Sanji, myself included, is a reaction out of anger upon witnessing such thing.
In the same arc, we did have Sanji twice getting really angry at those.
Only that women weren't perhaps the factor that would make the difference.
With Nami, he really lost his temper because S-Shark attacked her, to the point he activated his Germa genes out of wrath.
Perhaps it is too soon to talk, and perhaps there it'll be an explanation to this. I don't want to make it especially shippy because I like Sanji the way he is, protecting all women and going wherever they are if they are in danger. But it is still striking to see the differences in the way he sees Nami ≠ women.
We didn't see what happened in between, but Robin was injured too during those events - that's why Chopper was treating her. Now Stussy, who has been seriously injured right in front of him, doesn't elicit Sanji's wrath.
I may be overanalyzing. But they are still details that stand out a lot.
Weddings...
Weddings seems to be a recurrent topic when it comes to Sanji and Nami uh?...
