ok iâve been curious about something. can you name a character who is, all three at once,
1. canonically female (no variation)
2. canonically the protagonist of her story (if itâs an ensemble cast you have to say you can legitimately see her as The main character)
3. your personal #1 favorite character in that story (ties are acceptable)
?
yes
no
super nuance bald extract button (use this wisely)

Update on Blocked Logins
We have temporarily lifted the block preventing users from logging in to AO3 with an insecure password. If you have been receiving this message recently, please immediately do the following:
Log in to your account using your compromised password.
Verify that the email on your account is one that you have access to and that it is up to date.
To do this, go to your Preferences page and select "Change Email" at the top of the page. Your email address will be listed on that page, next to "Current email".
If you don't have access to this email account, update your email before you change your password. You don't need access to your old email address to change it to a new one, as long as you also know your current password.
If you do have access to this email account, copy-paste the email address so that you can correctly enter it into the password reset form. If you do not enter your email address exactly as it is listed here, you will not receive the password reset email.
Change your password to a unique, strong password by following the steps in our Archive FAQ: How do I change my password?
We strongly recommend that you use a password generator to select a new password. Most browsers and devices have a built-in password generator, or you can use this one: 1Password's Password Generator.
Use a password manager to set and remember your passwords for you. If you don't want to install third-party software, you can use the password manager provided by your browser or device.
If you are still unable to access your account, you will need to work with Support to complete the account recovery process described in the previous post. Please provide them with your username and the name of the email account you have lost access to. You must wait at least a week so that Support can check that the original email address is truly inactive, and provide multiple forms of evidence that the account is truly yours. The account recovery process will not proceed if you are unable to provide sufficient proof that you are the owner of the account.

Our Flag Means Death has some wonderful transitions but I was thinking today about the moment the show really hit me personally. I had really enjoyed the first few episodes, but in Discomfort In a Married State we see Stede trying but failing to fit in at home with his family, clearly unhappy. Trapped on a path he hates.  Dreaming of a life on the ocean but being told ânoâ.
In a flashback we see him standing at the mirror, taking off his nightgown and looking at himself as if asking âwho am I?â. There's a candle behind him, it's light mostly hidden, like the real Stede is in his old life.
We then see him in his hallway, bag and coat in his arms, lit by that bright candle standing proudly in the foreground. Â Light. Â Clarity. Stede openly starting that journey to discover who he is.
Then, as he turns full circle, we see him on the Revenge in the early morning as dawn breaks. A new day, a new life. Â
Itâs a wonderful transition and this is where the show really knocked me for six.  Stede was so brave in that moment, leaving everything he knew for a life he has dreamed of yet really knew nothing about. But he was strong enough to take that risk and it is why I will always love Stede Bonnet with my whole heart.  That moment changed me.  All of us are travelling through our lives as best we can. We have responsibilities, obligations, and we can let ourselves be overwhelmed by them â forget even who we were before those responsibilities took over. Stedeâs bravery encouraged my own.  In seeking out a new life, a new community and friendship, Stede Bonnet encouraged me to do the same.  I returned to an old community and in this show I also found a new one, with new friends. Itâs no exaggeration to say that this show made my life so much richer and I will be forever grateful.
I said this post was about transition, and thatâs exactly what it is. A transition from one life to another, accompanied by wonderful cinematography and set dressing. Â Itâs glorious and it's inspiring. Thank you so much Stede Bonnet and the 'behind the scenes' crew.

"This pristine symbol of hope was named Carver Village, after Dr. George Washington Carver, America's best loved scientist. The glistening new buildings, in a fledgling town of the same name, remained Black-only dwellings in the summer of 1951, but Carver Village was the largest, most impressive new minority-housing development in the nation.
This distinction was quickly eclipsed, however, by the complex's prominence as one of the bloodiest battlegrounds of the civil rights movement. Carver Village amounted to a desegregation of the larger housing complex, and this precipitated Klan organizing drives in Miami, white motorcades accompanied by rock throwing, and the shooting of a Black man.
On September 22, two one-hundred-pound boxes of dynamite blasted an untenanted building at the complex. In October, three bombs tore through Jewish schools and synagogues in the city. When the threats, rallies, lynching, and drive-by shootings failed to keep Carver Village residents from demanding places at the local polls and lunch counters, the Ku Klux Klan escalated its murderous assaults.
On November 30 and December 2, 1951, more dynamite blasts rocked Carver Village, leaving huge areas bombed out and uninhabitable. Another bomb was left on the steps of a Catholic Church that was the spiritual home of antisegregationists, and the Miami Herald reported "Floggings were reported in Orange County."
December was a particularly bloody month: dynamite blasts blew out windows and leveled walls of the Miami Hebrew Synagogue and Tifereth Israel Synagogue to punish Jewish sympathizers, and this incendiary violence was followed by the Christmas Day bombing assassination of Harry T. Moore, head of the Florida NAACP. Open racial warfare in the streets began to punctuate the exchange of acerbic racial rhetoric."

New mission: create chibis for all the characters in the trilogy, including OCs. First batch. Hansry and Mutt, of course.

The thing is... If the show really is just some âfcked up gothic romance and the gore actually is necessary and the brutalization is a core part of the storyâ and anyone who points out the continued graphic violence against Black characters actually âjust doesnât understand the show and canât handle dark stories and just needs to stop watching the show cause they clearly donât understand it,â then why did Daniel not use Lestats head as a bowling ball? It definitely seemed like that was where the scene was heading, and it would have been completely in character for both of them, but no. Lestat doesnât get any gratuitous blood soaked headless scenes, he gets chop, bowling bag, and boom back together. Meanwhile Louis is tortured for the majority of the episode, in a way that is grosser that anything else this season has had. If people are supposed to look the way they did when they died, then why is Claudia the only one burned and bleeding while everyone else appears unharmed? Shouldnât Antionette and magnus and Nicki all be charred and bleeding, should Antionette be stabbed through with a poker and Magnus have his throat slit? Or all of Lestats victims in the concert, shouldnât all of them be corpses whoâve been bled out and injured? But no, time and time again the only bodies we see brutalized and broken in the way that everyone claims is typical for a show like this, are the Black protagonists. If everyone on the show was getting tortured and cut up and bled to equal measures than thereâd be less criticism, but the fact that in a show with multiple rapists, human traffickers, racists, abusers, and other people who have caused way more harm, the people who are put thru the most graphic violence and torture are the two Black main characters. I just donât understand how anyone is able to explain that away without admitting that the show is racist like are yall blind
unironically I will block you for saying âmy Shaylaâ about your blorbo. The meme came from people mocking a Black man for crying for his daughter. When you say that about a sketch of Skinny White Dude #27 you are treating Black pain as a joke. I want to assume most people donât know the context and wouldnât use it if they did but too many of yall straight up do not care and would keep using it anyways
either way now you do know, so you can either be better or shut the fuck up
