“Stop whatever you are doing.” Narcissa barged in Barty’s room, breathing heavily. “I need you right now.” @bartycrouchjunior
bellathicclestrange:
Trixy made a sound half between a scoff and a gag. “She thinks there’s a better way to love out there.” It was clear from her tone, Trixy had decided she disagreed. “And in the process, has lost ours.” She didn’t leave Narcissa room to refute it. “She’s going to fail, and she’s going to suffer.” Suddenly Trixy grabbed out, fast and hard, trapping her sister’s hand in her own. She locked eyes with Narcissa. “But you won’t. You won’t betray us.” She could not take it if she did, and she wouldn’t make the same soft-bellied mistakes with Narcissa she had with Andromeda.
“Well, she’s certainly wrong.” Narcissa couldn’t even imagine, she couldn’t even stand being around muggle borns. Her stomach dropped as Trixy continued. She did lose their love in theory but how could she move on with her life? Habits were hard to leave behind, there were days Narcissa found herself wanting to approach Dromeda, she had missed her, this wasn’t easy. The blonde almost startled when her sister grabbed her hand, she pressed her lips together. “I would never do such a thing, Trixy.” She promised and it was true, she loved her family, she would rather die than embarrass them. “There’s nothing in this world I care more than our family.” She said, squeezing her sister’s hand. “You can take my word for that.”
bellathicclestrange:
.
“Why did Andromeda do this,” Trixy shot back, hatred and fire in her voice to cover the hurt that hid beneath.
It was a valid question and it was killing Cissa that she had no clue, how come she has never seen this coming? “I still can’t believe she betrayed us like that.” She said quietly, shaking her head. “She ruined her life and for what? Because she wanted to rebel?” It didn’t make any sense to Narcissa, she was so content in her little world, she didn’t understand Andromeda at all.
bellathicclestrange:
Trixy rolled her eyes and rolled them hard. “No, I think mother did.” It would be just like Druella to get the news out before someone else could and at least try and use it to an advantage, of which Trixy could see plainly there was none.
“You think so?” She sighed. Cissa wasn’t for one to question her mother’s decisions, she chose to obey them most of the time but this one seemed ridiculous, even for Druella’s standards. “Why did she even do it? This is not helping.” She said, crossing her arms against her chest. “Not at all.”
asheravery:
when: august 27th, 1979 where: asher’s prefect room who: @narcissablack-x
There were only a hand full of people Asher was actively looking forward to seeing, mostly because, unlike most people he ran into, they actually understood the pain he had been going through. The return to Hogwarts, while it had been a welcome one, brought with it a new reality that Asher was trying to right himself in. A reality in which Prija was gone, and the walls spoke out her name. Despite how much he understood that it had been what she wanted, he felt that he almost owed it to her to keep people like Narcissa and Rosalind close. So he tried his best, though his best was rarely good enough.
Narcissa’s arrival marked a new beginning, and as he offered to show her his new sleeping arrangements, he wondered if she was uncertain about the year to come as he was. Had he read the tabloids more, he might have understood that she had other things to be mourning.
“Well, what do you think of the place?” He sat down on his bed, thankful to have a room alone before realizing that he had been in there before. That this room, having once belonged to Bastian Bott, had been the scene of a quiet crime of the heart.
This summer, without any argument, was the worst one Cissa’s had. Prija’s death, the mayhem her sister has caused for the family and now that Wendy was missing, Cissa felt like she couldn’t take any more bad news. This had to stop. Truth be told, she has never considered Asher as a close friend, sure they were getting along just fine but he has never been a good friend. But after the meltdown she’s had at Prija’s funeral, she knew the dynamic between them has changed, she would never tell him the real reason behind her tears but she knew Asher was the only one who would understand her pain.
Druella had certain expectations from her daughters, she wanted them to excel at everything they did, so when she found out Narcissa couldn’t make it as a prefect, she was disappointed in her daughter. As much as she enjoyed being Druella’s little puppet, becoming a prefect was the least of her worries. She congratulated Asher though, genuinely happy for him.
“It looks good.” She said, smiling faintly. “You will be living alone, that’s the most important part I think.” Narcissa shrugged. “I am just glad I won’t be living in that room anymore.” She said after a beat, sighing.
bellathicclestrange:
“It was,” she said darkly. “And now it’s nothing.”
Narcissa sighed, angry, and tired. “I can’t believe this.” Arms crossed against her chest, she looked at her sister. “How did these people even find out? You think Dromeda talked about this carelessly?”
ccnqueror:
Lucius leaned back in his chair, folding his arms. Annoyance flitted over his features; he did not bother to hide it, however, opting instead to glare straight ahead.
“Love,” he drawled. “You really love to throw that word around, don’t you?”
He stood up. Set his jaw as he looked at her again. “Well, I hope you have a fun time. Bertha and I certainly will be.”
“Only for the people I truly care about.” She said with a shrug, hoping that statement would bother him.
Narcissa pressed her lips together, this time managed to hide her annoyance, at least she hoped that she did.
“See you around, Malfoy.”
FIN.
bellathicclestrange:
WHEN: 3 August 1979 WHERE: La Casa Black, Wiltshire WHO: @narcissablack-x
Trixy had not moved for most of the day, which was rare for her. She did so now, though only fractionally and only her wand, to incinerate the copy of Witch Weekly that lay open on the dining room table. It left a pile of ash over the indentation her knife had made what felt both moments and ages ago.
Witch Weekly was something Narcissa always rolled her eyes at, she despised on so many occasion and now that it was spreading stupid rumors about her family, she was on her last nerve. She took a seat across from Trixy, hands rested on the table, a long sigh left her lips. “Is this what I think it is?”
rosalindselwyn:
“I’ve certainly been better.” Rosalind admitted with candour that was reserved for a select few. “I’m sure you saw yesterdays news.” She turned to the elf who was waiting patiently in the corner, giving it orders to bring tea immediately.
“Given the situation, I can understand why.” Narcissa sighed, taking a seat. “I did.” She nodded. “How are you doing?”
rosalindselwyn:
Date: Saturday 18th July, 1979 Where: The Selwyn Manor, France somewhere Who: @narcissablack-x
“Oh, Cissa.” Rosalind let out a sigh of relief when she saw who was at her door. “You don’t know how glad I am to see you.”
Narcissa smiled at Rosalind, giving her a quick hug, then stepped back. “I missed you so much.” She said, smiling again. “How are you doing, darling?” Not that she didn’t expect a positive answer given the circumstances, her brother’s arrest first, then Prija’s death.
ccnqueror:
He smiled and cocked his head, trailing his eyes over her rigid form. “Well, good,” he drawled, “I was worried I’d upset you.”
He heart soared at her laugh. Somehow, her laugh never failed to make his heart thrum. He opened his mouth, ready to give another quick-witted remark, perhaps Prija’s boring enough that it won’t be a concern, when her next words cut through his soul.
And, just like that, Lucius’s heart fell.
“Marceaux?” He set his jaw. “My, you have a lot of friends, don’t you?”
“You can’t possibly upset me, Lucius.” Narcissa faked a smirk, clearly lying.
“Mhm, Marceaux.” She confirmed with a nod. “I am taking you know him?” She raised her brow. “I wouldn’t say a lot of but I do have a few and I love them dearly.”
narcissablack-x:
“I guess we are.” She trailed off, falling silent as she thought about the fact she would never see Prija anymore. Wiping her tears as fast as she could, she looked at Asher once again. “I will go and check on Rosalind. If you want to talk, you know where to find me.” Narcissa said before giving him a quick hug.
.
Asher watched Narcissa leave, apprehension written clear as day on his face. This was a world he wasn’t sure he belonged to. Not anymore.
the end
asheravery:
He might’ve managed a smile if he wasn’t so consumed with the realization that this really was the end. That everything that had been happening wasn’t some strange waking dream. How had everything unraveled so quickly? What was left of him? “Guess we’re in this together now.”
“I guess we are.” She trailed off, falling silent as she thought about the fact she would never see Prija anymore. Wiping her tears as fast as she could, she looked at Asher once again. “I will go and check on Rosalind. If you want to talk, you know where to find me.” Narcissa said before giving him a quick hug.
bartycrouchjunior:
Barty frowned, making a note to look into this later. There must be some whispers, someone who had seen her. Too many people were disappearing and he wasn’t naive to the tension building outside of the castle. It irritated the Ravenclaw, being in the dark without answers, unable to do more to help Narcissa. “Let me know if you hear anything more.” He answered earnestly.
At the mention of the wedding, Barty shot the other witch an inquiring glance, crossing the distance from the sink to his desk. “Oh, I’m sure it’ll be entertaining to see how our dear Joseph stumbles through this.” He tilted his chin knowingly. “If that’s what you mean.”
“I will.” She promised him, a faint smile on her lips.
“I have no doubt about that,” Narcissa said, her brow raised, a tad confused. “No, that’s not what I mean.” She shook her head. “I am more interested in how you feel about it. Seeing Vivian getting married to your cousin is not something you would want to witness, I assume.”
bartycrouchjunior:
Barty didn’t need any other explanation, offering his arm to her instead as he guided them out through the door automatically. He didn’t stop walking until they were outside of view from the entryway, obscured by the landscape and thankfully distanced from the prying eyes and unwanted stares.
Turning back to his friend, he allowed his hands to rest on her shoulders protectively, eyes full of concern. “Do you want to talk about it?”
Narcissa followed Barty outside, trying to hide her tears as much as she could but she was positive everybody has seen her already.
It was Barty’s hand on her shoulder that broke her into tears. It was an understatement really because she found herself actually sobbing, Merlin only knew how ugly she looked when she cried. This was a touchy subject to bring up, she didn’t know where to start but she knew she had to tell someone. “I am just so sad,” She started, letting the tears fall down on her cheeks. “I didn’t think I would be this sad but I am. I just can not believe she's not here anymore. She’s gone. Just like that. One day she was in our room and the next day she’s not.” Narcissa couldn’t wrap her head around it.
“She was my closest friend, Barty. I trusted her, I told her the things that I didn’t tell my sisters.” As the tears came down, she held Barty’s hand and turned to him, hoping he would understand what she was about to say without asking too many questions.
“I...” She paused to take a breath. “I... loved her.”
asheravery:
Wordlessly, Asher reached out and took one of Narcissa’s hands. At the beginning of the year, Narcissa had felt like the only person who had really understood the gravity of the situation, or at the very least, the depth of the betrayal. What would she think of him now if she knew what he had done? Would she congratulate him on a job well done, or would she again put family above everything else. Patricide wasn’t exactly celebrated openly, and even with her issues with Prija, she was openly admitting to still feeling something at her death.
Tears fell down on Cissa’s cheeks once Asher took one of her hands, she wished she could keep a straight face but all of this was too much for her to handle, she couldn’t pretend like nothing was wrong. They both were betrayed by Prija but for some reason, they both seemed to be the only two people who were affected by her death the most. He was upset too, one could say even more upset than Narcissa was but she doubted it. “If you ever need someone to talk to,” She paused for a moment to wipe her tears. “I am here. Please keep that in mind.”
andromedaatnight:
“Of course something’s wrong, and you know what it is!” Her voice had risen as she spoke; with effort, Andromeda lowered it once more. “If you must know, I’m sick of Mum treating me like a flower she grew and can just hand over to anyone she pleases. So I needed to think about how I’m going to not get married to whoever she picks for me.”
“I’m tired, Cissa. I’m not going to lie down and let things happen to me, and — and maybe this was a childish way to deal with it, and I’m sorry I frightened you and Trixy. But I’m not sorry for doing it to her.”
“So you thought disappearing for a week or two would change mum’s mind? Really?” Narcissa couldn’t believe her sister, she kept shaking her head.
“Yes, it was beyond childish. Did you know she came and visited me while you were gone? She basically accused me of not telling her where you were, she thought I was covering for you and meanwhile I was too busy with worrying about whether you were dead or not. I get why you wanted to anger mum but you should have at least told us where the hell you were.” She said angrily.
“I am glad you are okay but don’t be surprised if I don’t want to see you for a while,” Narcissa said, crossing her arms against her chest. “I need some time.”
