Under different circumstances, that could be considered incredibly ominous. 

                         Truth be told, I’m not entirely sure as to what I was expecting. But it couldn’t have been based on my choice in company —— after all, they can be pretty civilized on occasion. Maybe. I mean, you’re right. I wouldn’t exactly know now would I? And would this be considered a good day for you?

Bertram Aubrey. Hmm —— so much for my being vague……I have to admit that he is a top contender. I once had to move seats because I couldn’t concentrate. Of course, it’s nothing he can control. Eh…..body language? Do I even want to ask what you’ve learned from me?

Under different circumstances, I would have taken that compliment. Now, I will simply have to nod in agreement.

Hmm, I'm sure. A good day? Not exactly, but it's not a bad day either — 'average' or 'dull' would about cover it. The weather hasn't been too nice lately and everyone seems to be in a poor mood, so naturally — I adapt.

Personally, I think his library rights should be revoked, his behaviour stimulates homicidal urges. Perhaps that is just me, however. Oh, you wouldn't believe what people let slip by merely moving. It's rather easy to tell if someone is lying, as an example. Learned from you? Hm, let me see — actually, wouldn't it be far more fun if I did not tell you, and you would wonder what I had figured out about you so far? Because I can say, it's quite interesting.

I don’t know. Let’s… let’s go outside. Come on, let’s go. [Suddenly invigorated, he jumps up from his seat and hastily throws on a pullover, peering outside at the weather.]

[A breath of fresh air would do her a world of good, so Narcissa nods enthusiastically. It should not be too cold outside, the early Autumn sun shining  through thin clouds and dressed in a thick Slytherin sweater, Narcissa doesn't bother with another layer.] Outside it is, then. But if you kick, or throw leaves at me again I will not hesitate to hex you. Consider yourself warned.

[Sybill blinks a few times in surprise, eyes flitting up to see a dour expression on the other girl’s face. It was just a question.] “Oooh, I do love the library, but I often find I do my best learning out in the open. Only have so much time before it’s much too cold to sit outside for long, right?” [She pulls her knees to her chest and watches other students walk past for a moment. So many lives, so many threads. Threads of fate. {Threads of fate that could be cut any m o m e n t, danger is coming, danger, danger—}] “Why is a raven like a writing desk?”

"Outside is noisy, and — not that you care, obviously; it's filthy." [A shrug, she doesn't care much for the environment she studies in. Not that she would tell the other girl, but she found studying outside distracting, not noisy — not even filthy.]  "Excuse me?" [Yet again, the blonde finds herself caught off guard, and her annoyance grows but this time her face betrays no emotion.]

[Sybill purses her lips and blows at the smoke, the potent scent of jasmine whirring around her head. Was Narcissa still there? Oh. Quite. ] "What are you in such a hurry for, Narcissa?" [Sybill shrugs, turning the almost-gone stick upside down and rubbing the tip on the cobblestone to extinguish it.] “Flight, too, wouldn’t you think? If I had wings, my feet would never touch the ground! Then again, I do like the comfort of knowing I can’t inadvertently set my home on fire.”

[She almost takes a step back as the scent of jasmine invades her nostrils — eyes narrowing as an annoyed expression forms on her face.] "While that bit of information is none of your business whatsoever, I was heading to the library. You know, the place with all the books where people actually sit on chairs?" [As the conversation shifts to water breathing dragons once again, Narcissa drops her book in her bag and crosses her arms. It isn't often that she is uncertain of how to behave around someone, but the other blonde has managed to make her quite uncomfortable.] "Dragons are likely to find a new home, I suppose. They just fly away and — why are we talking about dragons?"

 Oh, but Cissy, when has being of age ever bothered either of us? Where’s your sense of adventure? [Regulus stands up, grabbing her shoulders and giving her a little shake.] Come on, let’s do something fun. I’m tired of sitting around trying to study.

[narcissalyra]

[A mischievous glint appears in her eyes as a smile curls her lips.] My sense of adventure? Now, my dear — we all know I'm a good little girl who always does as she is told. No, I do not have time for silly things as adventure and fun. [Her tone is light, she tilts her head to the side.] What is it you want to do?

[regulusarcturuss]

Cursing whoever it was that decided Ancient Runes was a subject I should take. We spent the last lesson avoiding work and discussing Riddle as usual, actually. Finding it difficult to believe how many people don’t trust him. I mean, it’s a minority, but it’s rather shocking, don’t you think?

[narcissalyra]

It is a dreadful subject indeed. He's slowly taking over the castle, and not even by force. Appearing at the feast was a smart idea, while it's brought many questions. When have people ever fully trusted politicians? One way or another, all they want is power. Whether they use that power with good, or bad intentions for everyone else, we can only wait and see. I find it pointless to think of, considering there's nothing I could do about it. I'm not even of age — and neither are you.

[Sybill does her best not to roll her eyes — such snappy exchanges are tiresome, though the young Seer does feel the familiar prickle of ‘danger, danger, danger’ at the base of her neck.] “Poor choice of words on both our parts, then…” [Sybill’s eyes lock on the tiny tendril of smoke curling up from the incense stick, waving her wand in a flourish to summon the stones back into the cloth bag in her lap.] “Do you think dragons ever wish they could breathe water?”

[While she always knows how to carry herself, she eyes the other blonde expectantly. Is she just going to sit there? Rude.] "If you say so." [The urge to mumble something unkind under her breath grows, but she remains silent as she listens to the girl speak, lips pursing at her question.] "I don't think dragons wish for anything but food."

[Narcissa. The girl’s name fit her demeanor like a glove.] “You would have to lift your foot in order for me to do that, dearie.” [Sybill points to the scarlet stone underneath the other girl”s toes.] “But alas, you’re in my way, and I cannot. Funny, how Fate plays our lives like a fine-tuned violin, don’t you agree?”

[The book snaps shut audibly between Narcissa's hands, one of her eyebrows lifting slowly as she eyes the girl. Absolutely bonkers, or so she has heard. Definitely not worthy of her time, nor her acquaintance.] "The name is Narcissa, as I'm sure you are well aware of." [Lazily, yet with refined grace, Narcissa lifts her foot to place it beside the stone. The idea to crush it was tempting, but she wasn't in such an ill mood that she would resort to things like that already.] "Fate, you say? I would say our crossing paths is more bad luck than faith."

[narcissalyra]

[Sybill sits cross-legged in the stone courtyard, handful of polished stones in one hand and a burning stick of incense in the other.] “Mmm, hmm hmmmm,” [She hums something — a lullaby with words long forgotten — as she casts the stones out in front of her until a pair of legs nearly walks right through the pile.]

“E x c u s e me! I’m trying to concentrate! Could you clomp your way somewhere else?”

[She isn't looking where she is going, a book in hand and green eyes focused on the aged paper, her brow furrowing in concentration. While she always breezed through the course work, this year so far has proven itself to be harder than she had expected. It's then that a voice lures her out of her thoughts.] "Oh, pardon — oh, it's you. First of all, Trelawney; I do not clomp. Besides, you're the one sitting on the ground. Maybe you could take your pretty little rocks and sit somewhere I am not trying to walk?"

[regulusarcturuss]

 [Sighing, Regulus sits back in his chair and folds his arms across his chest.] There’s really no point in bothering at this time. I might as well admit defeat now. [Turning to face her properly, his face splits into a smile.] So how have you been, cousin mine?

[narcissalyra]

[Mockingly, Narcissa gasps.] Giving up already? How un-Black of you. [Features relaxing, she leans against the desk as she watches him.] Same old, same old, I'm afraid. Riddle this, Riddle that, in the hallways and an overload of prefect duties. Here I thought the Slytherin first years would be less of a hassle. Serves me right to underestimate them, I suppose — how about you?

[regulusarcturuss]

[Jumping slightly at her sudden presence, Regulus’ expression relaxes into a grin.] Cissy! Help me with this Ancient Runes nonsense, would you? I’m stumped.

[narcissalyra]

[The blonde scrunches up her face in a way her mother would certainly disapprove of at the mention of Ancient Runes.] Please tell me you are kidding. I don't know what makes me want to jump off the Astronomy Tower more, Divination or Ancient runes. [Then a sigh escapes her lips as she leans in, reading over his parchment.] Well, maybe if you did .. — no, that's not it.... Oh! No.. Unfortunately I have to admit I'm far better at keeping you company while you do homework, than actually helping you.

[regulusarcturuss]

[Sitting back a little in his chair, Regulus stares at the parchment in front of him, brow furrowed.] Well, that can’t be right. [He scratches at the back of his neck, rifling through the open book beside him with his free hand, and nods, though he’s still decidedly unsure.] What am I talking about? That’s fine.

[Sneaking up behind him has always been easy, but it's significantly easier when he has his mind on something else. Narcissa wears a small smirk of amusement on her lips as she leans in, right next to his ear.] It looks a little off, if you ask me.

But that’s not what goodness of the heart is even about. You might be selfish and vain but still have a good heart and good intention— there’s not reason to… mock being a good person just because… just because… oh, never mind. There’s no point in arguing about it.

You, Hufflepuffs — the goody two shoes of the castle? Perhaps that rings a bell?

Ah, something we would agree on. There is simply no point to it, that is correct — besides, I choose to mock whoever I wish, whatever I wish to mock them for. I had high hopes for you considering your sister is such a harpy — but I suppose unpleasantness runs in the family. Pity.

Of course not, you’re Cissy after all. Oh, no, you needn’t justify yourself, little sister, at least not to me. Merlin knows I love seeing that Gryffindor rubies stack grow smaller and smaller by the day.

If they keep at it, chances are their points will soon fall below zero — it seems as if the lot of them is only good to cause trouble so they shield their true intentions behind the concepts of bravery and daring. Bah.

Four chapters to read for Arithmancy, six spells to practice for Charms, 10 inches of parchment on Bowtruckles — I knew O.W.L’s were supposed to be challenging, but with this much work I have so little time to breathe! Or crystal gaze!

And they say Ravenclaws adore academia.

Well, you could always simply get rid of your crystal ball. Who knows what you might discover about yourself if you're not endlessly gazing in the fog? There is a world out there, Trelawney — and it needs no unfogging.

This is such a boring day. This school should really have more options of entertainment for those who don’t enjoy Quidditch.

Well, I would never be brainless enough to confess to such a thing — after all, those Gryffindor students did look at me funny and I found the whole situation rather intimidating. It made me uncomfortable. I had all the right to give them detention.
