@naren-deydesli
Inktober 2017 / 24 âDeydesli Amberlightâ Pen and copic
There was a power outage today, so I tried to draw Deydesli by memory. The most difficult part was not being sure if she was human or elvishâŠÂ ><
@prgrmmr @naren-deydesli
Deydesli is a character from the novel series âThe Knights of Narenâ
Naren - The Mage from Thril Gandir
She had managed to avoid the welcoming party. It wasnât that she didnât want to go. Terellion was her best friend, and she was glad he had finally returned home after spending the past two years in Rathel training to be an adahi. It was whom he had brought back with him that she was wary of. Deydesli had missed her friend, but she was a little less thrilled that he had returned with a mage. It wasnât even really the fact that he was a mage, but he was a Thril Gandir trained mage, not a rogue mage like she was. The whole idea of bringing someone well-versed in all the rules seemed like trouble to her.
Her fears not assuaged by her own magic ability. She only had one that she knew of, premonition. She could see things before it happened. However, whenever she tried to see what the mage might do, she came up with nothing. She knew that meant he knew how to ward against her ability, but why would he do that unless his intention was to turn her in. Terellion was an adahi now and had to carry a pair of iron mitts. This mage could grab them, slap them on her, and translocate her all the way to Thril Gandir, where she would most surely wind up imprisoned for the rest of her life, if not for her ability, then for the fact she wasnât taken there as a child.
So she missed the parties. She avoided his house and the town hall where he was being reinstated as the swordkeeper. There was one place she couldnât avoid. She was the teacher at the small townâs school. Terellion worked there as well, repairing things and fetching supplies from the town to the south. While others had filled in while he was gone, she was eager for him to come back.
She was hoping he would be alone on his first day back, but he was not so lucky. The students hadnât arrived yet. Deydesli always made it a point to arrive an hour before they did. When he walked in ten minutes after she got there with the mage trailing behind him, her first instinct was to glance at the side door. She could make a run for it, but instead, she stayed frozen in place.
âDey!â Terellion smiled as he approached. She tried to smile back as he continued, âI havenât seen you since I got back. Someone has been waiting to meet you.â
The other elf was tall, thin, and covered in a long flowing robe. His dark skin was a little lighter than his reddish-brown hair and his violet eyes regarded her. He smiled. âHi. Iâm Magister Hethurin Fairsong.â He smiled and extended his hand.
Deydesli extended her hand as well. Was this it? Would he be able to tell what she was? Their hands touched. His grip was firm and felt genuine. She still couldnât tell what he would do. âIâm Deydesli. Iâm the teacher here.â
âTerellionâs told me a lot about you. I wanted to thank you for helping him, and me, while we were in the castle in Moressley.â
She glanced at Terellion. How much had he told him?
As if reading her mind, Terellion said, âHe knows.â
âTer! Youâre not supposed to tell anyone!â
âHe already knew there was someone poking at his wards,â Terellion explained. He sat down on top of one of the desks in the classroom. âI think you should give him a chance.â
âWell, I donât have much choice now, do I?â
Hethurin sat on the desk next to Terellion, âI wonât turn you in, and I know youâre more than just a mage.â
Deydesli remained silent. That he knew anything at all was a bad idea.
âYour abilityâ Youâve told everyone itâs premonition and youâve treated it like something that any mage can do. No one here has questioned it, but I know better. Youâre one of the three seersâ the seer of the future. Thereâs only ever one at any given time, and youâre the only one in Naren right now with the ability to see the future.â
Deydesli lowered her brows and stared at him defiantly, âSo youâre going to tell everyone?â
Hethurin shook his head.
âTake me to Thril Gandir?â
Hethurin shook his head again. âI donât think anyone else should know.â
She blinked. It certainly wasnât what she expected a Thril Gandir mage to say.
âTerellion knows, and I know, but does anyone else need to? Thril Gandir certainly doesnât need to know. They already have the seer of the past, and he canât even leave for visits home despite having a perfect record. I feel very strongly against people being held places against their will. You already have Terellion looking out for you, but I want you to know that you now have me as well.â
Nor was she expecting that. She regarded the mage in a new light now, not as a Thril Gandir mage, but as a possible friend. She let the tension in her brow relax, and gave a hesitant smile. âThank you.â
I have finally finished her dress. This is the most complicated pattern Iâve ever followed, and I modified it a bit as well. I didnât want to do lining because the fabric was already kinda thick, so I left that part out, and I had to lengthen it and adjust the waist to fit her better. Iâm really happy with the way it turned out.
I still havenât finished her new outfit so here she is in her old dress. I DID make progress on the new one today. :)
Iâm back with another bad phone pic! My Resinsoul bigger girl body arrived today so Deydesli (Desdeyliri) is finally on the body sheâs supposed to be on. Iâm still not sure what Iâll do with the Mirodoll body. I was going to use it for Rissa, but since Iâll be ordering Rissaâs head and body at the same time later this year, I kind of donât need it. I DO need boy bodies, but Iâm slowly working on that too.
I took a picture of her next to Ellorian, one of my tallest (along with Hethurin and Sorias â all three have the same kind of body and should stand at 75cm, but Ellorian might be a little taller just because his head is taller? lol) However, he doesnât have shoes and Deyâs boots are platform heels. I do need to look into getting her something a little more school teacher-ish.
The resin match with akagidoll and resinsoul normal is not very good at all. I will have to take the time to blush her body to match.
ALSO, Ellorianâs outfit is almost done. I havenât sewn in real snaps yet, and I have to make the skirt part, but I think itâs looking pretty good. :)

It was solely an educational field trip.

Kingsfall
(( This weekâs prompt was a story about a journey. This is an excerpt from my upcoming book, Knights of Naren: The Sword. It takes place at one of the stops along the journey to retrieve a stolen sword. As part of working on the second draft, Iâve been rewriting chapters. I figured since I had to rewrite it and it was about a journey that this week was a good time to work on this chapter. ))
They arrived in Kingsfall, the largest city of central Naren, and Deydesli was distracted by the markets and shops that they passed. Unfortunately, the sun was low in the sky, and most of the shops were closing for the night. She made Tellerion promise they would look around a bit in the morning before heading further south to Moressley. Tellerion didnât like the idea as it would slow them down, but decided it would be best to do it now. After they had the sword, there would be no time for stopping. They stayed at one of the nicer inns near a large market area that night.
Tellerion woke early the next morning eager to get started on the day. He still hoped to reach Moressley that night, even if there was a considerable distance to travel after shopping. He knocked on the door of the room that Deydesli was staying in. âDey, are you awake?â he asked in a hushed voice at the door. At first he thought she didnât hear him, but he dared not speak louder as he didnât want to wake the other people staying at the inn. Luckily, she had heard the knock. The door creaked open.
She was already dressed, and her blond curls done up in a ponytail. Her long ears were alert. âTellerion, what is it?â
Tellerion was a bit embarrassed by how disheveled he must look. He had only taken the time to throw on a shirt and pants before going to knock on her door. He wasnât even wearing shoes yet! âOh, I was just wondering if you were awake. Iâd like to start our shopping as soon as the market opens for the day.â

This is Desdeyliri, or in my first novel (coming to kindle soon!), Deydesli. In WoW, she is a friendâs character. I borrowed her for my book series, Knights of Naren. In Naren, she is a school teacher and rogue mage who helps her friend, Terellion, when he is sent to retrieve a stolen sword.Â
This outfit is NOTHING like she would wear there, but it was simple enough for me to sew and give her some girly things to wear. I have a more complicated pattern that will hopefully give her a good Naren schoolteacher look, but I kind of want to wait until after her body upgrade to use it. The jacket and dress were by me. The hair bow is some weird ring that came with a human sized scarf. The belt is valentineâs hair ties from Dollarama, and the red stockings are from Ebay.
