Introduction

Welcome, welcome! As you can see, this is a pinned post - an explanation of my blog, to be exact. So, what exactly is this all about?

I am a proud Pole. I have lived in Poland since my birth, and will continue to do so. And, unlike many, I embrace polish culture, music, movies, books etc. And thus, the lack of fandoms devoted to Polish media is twisting my guts. A thought i had recently, how many of these polish media’s would be, oh so perfect, for people that wouldn’t ever find them due to simply not being english? And since I crave content… why not try and introduce people to them?

I’m guessing that this will end up being a blog with mostly posts about polish rock, any RPF welcome, so don’t be embarrassed about this sort of thing. Of course, that won’t be the only thing i’ll post about, just being the main thing. So, you can expect info dumps, fun facts, photos, fanarts, maybe even a fanfic or two, if i’ll feel like it. A lot will tie into geography, history - the communist regime influenced Polish art more than you might think. 

If ANYBODY is even remotely interested in all that, interact in any shape or form, just let me know.

What's your fav artist from poland??

I would love to say something about this being a hard question, but well, it isn't. I'd actually say it's the easiest question imaginable Behold, Jan Borysewicz, lead guitarist of Lady Pank

God, he's awesome. Starting with the fact he's the founder of Lady Pank, the most famous rock band in Poland. Aside of being the main guitarist, he's also the composer, and even lead singer in a handful of their songs

Wow, your vlog really got me curious. Will you ever make a post about Polish singer Anna Jantar? I think her diskography is really interesting

With pleasure!! Ania is one of favorite artists of mine, I'd say.

Starting with a quick introduction, Anna Maria Kukulska (better known as Anna Jantar, her stage name) born on the 10th of June, 1950. Arguably the most famous polish singer of the 70s.

She started way back in the late 60s, when she worked with some Polish bands, like Polne Kwiaty. She recorded one of her first professional songs „Po ten kwiat czerwony” with them. Later, she became a vocalist for the band Waganci, where she met her future husband, Jarosław Kukulski.

The time period you're REALLY interested in would be 1973, where she released her first solo single, „Najtrudniejszy pierwszy krok”! She released many hit albums during the 70s, which are all considered classics now. The song "Tyle Słońca W Całym Mieście" released on the album by the same name, is considered one of the most famous Polish songs of all time to this day.

Onto the sole discography, we have:

Zawsze Gdzieś Czeka Ktoś (1977)

And her last album, Anna Jantar (1980)

She also released a lot of singles, but covering all of them would take waaaay too much time.

Lastly, onto a more serious topic. Anna's tragic death. She was only 29 when she died due to a plane crash in 1980, Warsaw. Budka Suflera, one of the most famous Polish bands worked with her a few time, and dedicated the song "Słońca jakby mniej” to her, as a way to honor her legacy.
