THOUGHTS ON DAB (& EVAN)

While everyone is freaking out over playlist live, I’m gonna be emo here for a sec about that Blessing™ of a sims video. I only just realised that whenever Dan or Phil talk about the friendship (not the future relationship) between Dab and Evan, they get sO EXCITED and as you saw they always age them up at the same time and get super giddy about it and everything. Even when they first decided to ‘create’ Evan, they were adamant to make Dab a friend instead of just having him befriend different people as he aged up. Also, whenever Dan and Phil talk about Dab, they always seem to mention their own childhood memories and reminisce over that (that Matey bubble stuff, the fabric light thing, the sandpit). That’s when I realised…

Dab and Evan are surrogates for the Dan and Phil that didn’t get to grow up with each other.

They are using these two sims (who have a LOT of resemblance to them imo) to inadvertently get to spend the childhood together that they wished they had. I ship the hell out of Dab and Evan (lmao), but if they never become a couple onscreen it’s because they’re such strong mirrors for Dan and Phil themselves that they aren’t willing to do that (regardless of if phan is ‘real’ or not, Dab and Even represent the beautiful friendship Dan and Phil share).

But if you do happen to ship phan, watching the boys talk about Dab and Evan and shipping makes it even more dramatic, just saying. 😂

PHAN DREAM THAT MADE ME CRY

OKAY FRIENDS I had a dream about phan last night, and I really want to share it with you all (for a very specific reason);

basically in the dream I was on my computer (yes I’m a party animal) and I was watching Dan and Phil do their first live streamed gaming video. All was good with it and I was just enjoying the content (can’t remember what the game was though) and eventually they began discussing Phil’s “sleepless nights with Phil” video and talked about the discourse about when he’d downloaded Dream Daddy. I can’t even remember what it was but Phil had some thinly veiled excuse and Dan agreed with him and everything they were saying was so unbelievable so I made a post about that and expressing my annoyance with their LIES when in the video/stream, Dan and Phil just turned to each other fondly and it was so weird in context of the video and I had just posted my angry rant and then they started giggling and I was like, what’s going on???? But THEN with the most cheeky smile Dan looked at the camera (after the pair had no doubt gotten a tirade of messages about the dream daddy fiasco in the stream chat) he held up this ring and put it on and was like “yeah btw Phil gave this to me” and Phil looked quietly horrified as I think everyone collectively stopped breathing (me included) until finally Phil just gave Dan the FONDEST smile and just murmured “yeah, yeah I did” and then they just sat closer and continued to play the game like nothing happened except both of them were smiling like fools and the whole phandom went into meltdown. LIKE I SAW THE TAGS AS I WATCHED ON AND MY GOD EVERYONE WAS A MESS. But Dan and Phil didn’t care, they just continued playing the game and never even spoke about the fact that it appeared that the pair had gotten engaged. If you hadn’t watched that like 1min of the stream, it wouldn’t appear any differently from any other video.

Moral of the story here: look, them getting married (or being together or whatever it is) would excite a lot of shippers and I totally understand that. However, I think regardless of their relationship status, it’s not going to change Dan and Phil in their videos. Like even in a dream I had where they maybe shared the fact they got engaged ??? There was no dramatic coming out or even saying “hey we gon’ get married”. It was something THEY WANTED TO SHARE, so they did. They shared no more than that. Putting my doubts of there ever being canon phan aside, if or when they ever do want to talk more about their romantic lives, they will. But we aren’t entitled to know about it, and at the least we can all just support them through their videos and keep being fans of their work. We can all agree that we love Dan and Phil - so it shouldn’t matter to us who they love in return. :)
