On May 25, 1961 President John F. Kennedy announced his belief in putting a man on the moon and returning him safely back to planet earth.
In the year of 1966 after five years of work the National Aeronautics and Space Administration conducted the first unmanned Apollo mission.
Testing structural integrity of proposed launch vehicle and spacecraft combination
On January 27,1967 a fire happened during a manned launched-pad test of Apollo spacecraft and saturn rocket.
Three astronauts had been killed in the fire.

October 1968, the Apollo 7 mission happened where it was the first manned Apollo mission that orbited Earth and tested the systems needed to perform getting to the moon and landing it.
On December,1968 ,the Apollo 8 mission took three astronauts to the dark side of the moon and back.
On March ,1969 , Apollo 9 tested the lunar module for the first time while in Earth orbit.
On May 22 ,1969 three astronauts of Apollo 10 took the first complete Apollo spacecraft around the moon in dry run for a scheduled landing mission in July.
During the Apollo 10 mission they almost crashed when the engine of the Lunar Module got on fire.
Apollo 10 was the last step of NASA before Apollo 11 where we would make the landing on the moon.
On July 16,1969 at 9:32 the entire world was watching the shuttle take off for Apollo 11.
