“Great. Just when it was starting to feel a little too safe.”
“I miss something?”
“Death comes in threes….oh, who will be next?”
“I’ll bet you ten bucks its not going to be you”
“Well it is my first time here?”
“Oh, you’re talking to me? Ah - congratulations?”
“How curious? The lack of effect current events have on things like tourism”
“What?”
Before Kol knew it a body was slamming into him, a hearty laugh left the vampire’s lips as he wrapped his arms around Natalia. “Haven’t you ever heard about the element of surprise, darling?” The vampire teased her before pulling back from the hug and looking at her. “How’ve you been?”
“You know me better than anyone -- I hate surprises ---- but I’m glad you’re here. I need at least one Original who likes me” the excitement in her voice and features was fairly obvious as she let go of the vampire Natalia loved above all else in this world. “Are you staying? Please say you’re staying .. fine. Bored. But fine”
He growled, a low rumble in his throat, “Do not try and outsmart me, sweetheart. And do not give me an order again, even in jest. Do not think your relationship with my brother will protect you if you get reckless here, as you’ve been known to do.”
“This is what I get for laying low in my apartment? Perhaps I should go out and at least earn the threat you’ve so greatly given me ... we’re all known to be a little reckless from time to time, Klaus. I’m the least of your worries round here ----- you never answered my question in regards to your work”
“Think mines me ‘eart.” he confessed despite his better judgement knowing all too well that while everything else might have been controlled by his member or his head, Belle occupied all of his heart; it died when she had. “I’ll pay.” he now said while no smile formed his lips and not laugh dared enter into the world, it still didn’t feel right be he knew somewhere deep down that he had made a joke. It was easy with Natalia for she met him when he didn’t even know himself or his sister; it was easy to forget with her (pun intended) As they had started to walk, his ears pricked at her question before giving himself a small smell “Aye? Marcel’s old prison for wayward vamps, love. Puts em in the walls, the ground, fuckin’ all sorts and leaves em there ta starve. Klaus’ now.”
She just gave him a knowing look. She didn’t need to respond, didn’t need to reach out and try comfort him. They hadn’t known each other long, but she knew he got some of her already. This, drinking with him, walking with him - mentioning her sister around him - that was her comforting in a way. People either took it or they didn’t. No smile, no laughing. It was all normal for someone who was going through such a loss, but that didn’t mean Natalia couldn’t laugh. The last thing Dominic would want is anyone being different around him. So the vampire chuckled and nudged him slightly as she would any other day, and began listening to his next words. “I don’t particularly feel like starving” she mutters, no expression on her face. “Best not get you into any sort of trouble then, or the garden might very well be my new home --- I was never fond of gardens. Ooh, in here”
Her words cut through him like glass – would he still be seeing Belle after five hundred years? He hoped so. Everyone had lost someone but he was selfish with his grief, not quite able to reach out and attempt to heal; just wasn’t how this went. “Yer don’ look nowt like ‘er, don’ know what I was thinkin’” he tells her before slumping in his own skin slightly, deflated from the almost encounter “Sayin’ me favorite words you are, love.”
“Sometimes I had my mind for playing tricks on me --- guess that’s where the drinking comes into it” she responds truthfully, leaning against the side of a building while she looks up at the sky for longer than she would have liked. “We alcohol lovers gotta stick together --- my favorite words are “I’ll pay” the smallest of laughs could be heard from the vampire as she pushes herself off the wall and heads out onto the street. She really did laugh at her own joke. It was only a small amount of silence before Nat’s curiosity got the better of her, and she thought seeing as Dominic knew Klaus, perhaps he would know the answer to her question. “What’s the garden? --- you smell nice”
.:[ ▲ ]:. ❝ Well I am happy to be the first! What have you been up to? Haven’t seen much of you ❞
“I tend to keep to myself most days. Something I’ve gotten used to over the years. Oh you know, killing, sleeping --- Are you still grieving?”
.:[ ▲ ]:. ❝ Okay then, I won’t do that again. You know what, all of this doesn’t matter this is about the gift; do you like it? Do you accept it? ❞
“Yes. Suppose I do like it. No one has ever given me a gift before, save for Kol”
“Well on behalf of the city, I sincerely apologize that we, in the shadow of a tragedy, have no been able to provide a good enough time for you here,” he finally turned around to face the vampire, “Dominic? I know you Natalia, so I’ll only say this once – if you get him into any sort of trouble, I will lock you away in the Garden and never look back.”
“The entire city isn’t struck by this tragedy; you all have reasons -- the rest should be entertaining. No, you only know what you want to know. If I wanted to put him in any sort of trouble, I would have done it the moment we met when he didn’t have any memories - down boy”
.:[ ▲ ]:. ❝ You use sarcasm, which in my book falls under the same category. Oh yeah, you have to hug me and you can’t complain. I mean you kissed me at new years without my consent but you can’t hug me ? ❞
“A lot of people mistake my honesty for sarcasm. That needs to stop. I was drunk on new years and I always have a new years kiss no matter who it is. This is different. Hugging is gross”
“Perceptive,” he let out a light scoff, before dipping his brush back into the paint, “Thank you for pointing out the obvious, sweetheart. Kol is free to come and go as he sees fit. He’s returned for now, will probably be off by next week.”
“Sometimes the obvious needs pointed out ---- can’t blame him, really. This town is very much lacking in all aspects of fun. Well -- I’m probably going to annoy you until I see Dominic somewhere, then I’ll be off. Do you sell your work?”
“I know, but thanks. Life is what it is, it doesn’t seem to change much – another day, another threat. Oh, but these are new shoes. And yourself?”
“I’m not really a shoe person -- but they have some spunk to them I suppose. Do you want to go get drunk? So so --- another day, another threat”
“And throw away something that someone might consider perfectly good food… drink… whatever it is they call this? What a waste, darling. I’m still not quite used to that.”
“Okay -- but its piss poor human food. Who cares if it gets tossed. I think you’ve been hanging round the wrong people ---- name?”
A brow perked at the girl’s answer. What the …? “Right,” she cleared her throat and started to pack up her things, “Both. Whether or not I’m getting paid, I have fun dancing.”
“So many of you have hobbies, I’m starting to think perhaps I need one that doesn’t involve making people cry ...” Natalia responds honestly as she glides round the room, eyes darting to new and different things she hasn’t seen in a long time. “Oh, I’m interrupting? I was meeting someone at the bar and got bored, heard the music - now here we are I guess”
“Think I’d rather watch old granny porn than girls ‘dance’ like that.”
“Old granny porn? I didn’t even know that was a thing ... suppose, the olds have to get off somehow. Are you going to tell them to stop dancing or shall I?”
