Since the new, rightish party took over Polish government the situation was terrible. They were literally changing the constitution in the middle of the night (sound Orwellish, eh?). But now it’s even getting worse.

POLISH GOVERNMENT WANTS TO BAN ANY KIND OF ABORTION. a n y  k i n d. Even if the woman was raped. Even when the women is going to die because of the pregnancy. Even if the fetus has no chance of surviving. Even if the woman is actually a 12 year old girl raped by her father. Even if the woman miscarried multiple times and knows the fetus won’t make it. Even if the fetus is already deformed and will suffer every second after being born. 

Polish abortion laws are now one of the most restrictive in the whole Europe and now “they are banning safe abortions by a doctor, while opening the door on unsafe amateur abortions, in a back alley”. Please, please, reblog and spread the word. Polish government wasn’t perfect for many years, but now we are hitting the bottom. The government has very close relationship with the catholic church and the church can influence further changes in our country. We don’t know how far it will go, but it won’t stop now.

A First Look at the Met’s “Manus x Machina” Costume Institute Exhibition

See Chanel suits and Dior gowns in the Met’s new Costume Institute exhibit.

Exploring the relationship between the handmade and the machine-produced in fashion, the show will feature more than 100 haute couture and ready-to-wear pieces, ranging from a Charles Frederick Worth gown from the 1880s to an Yves Saint Laurentcocktail dress from 1969–70 to a Fall 2015 Haute Couture suit by Karl Lagerfeldfor Chanel. The goal? To show how the lines between the high-tech and the artisanal are blurring in fashion as we move further into the 21st century.

Taryn Simon on Her Alluring New Show at Gagosian

Sentimental considerations are given global political perspective in “Paperwork and the Will of Capital.”

“I was interested in the idea of these men who feel they can control the evolution of the world through their language and assertions, and the flimsy paperwork that they are about to sign,” Simon explains. “And nature is just this castrated, decorative thing that sits between them.”

Simon takes the long view. “It’s a race against time,” she says. “What is going to last as a record? Will the English language itself survive? We know that flowers have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs from thousands of years ago. So I’m putting those two realities up against each other and wondering which one will endure.”

I love how Taryn Simon has combined a socio-political statement with the idea of nature, the concept creates a story something I am trying to achieve in all of my work as a designer.

Vogue 100: A Century of Style will showcase the remarkable range of photography that has been commissioned by British Vogue since it was founded in 1916, with over 280 prints from the Condé Nast archive and international collections being shown together for the first time to tell the story of one of the most influential fashion magazines in the world.

This exhibition has been organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London in collaboration with British Vogue as part of the magazine’s centenary celebrations.
