Not even joking. You simply have to respect these absolute maniacs. They casually make the best mass product of their type in the world. Craft varieties aside, it’s not even fucking close. There’s this part of my soul that itches to see a movie about the Haitian revolution because of how much shit my country has been through and been perceived by.

This country is BEAUTIFUL. It is rich with nutrients. It’s full of soul and music and I hate to see how everyday it’s being dragged through the dirt. It’s such a powerful country that’s thrown into the media as “the poor country run by gangs and full of witches”

WE. ARE. MORE. THAN. THAT.

It’s at the point where I also realized how there’s not much media that speaks of the history and culture of my country. Haiti has SO MUCH history and it deserves to be recognized.

I’m writing this here to say that I want to write a movie about the Haitian revolution. Haiti’s Independence Day is January 1st, and I want to begin that day to explore more about Haiti other than what I already know and what the media says. There IS so much more. There’s no way I’m letting it be lost history.

This is also a very challenging feat to achieve. I’m still a minor, I don’t have a professional team yet for stuff like this, nor do I even have a degree relating to screenwriting and film.

That doesn’t mean it hurts to start early.

I wanna write a rough draft, a beginning script of what I wanna explore. Jot down my ideas and important factors that deserve to be on the big screen.

Everything else can come in the later years.

Haiti deserves to be recognized. They deserve their story to be heard, too.

Having a queer character believe he won't find love and proving him right is not good writing.

Having a character grow up in solitary confinement and then ripping her away from the only family she's ever known to live a life of solitude once again is not good writing.

Having a character be in love with his best friend and then just compare it to a high school crush is not good writing.

Having Eleven say that Mike has always been the person who truly understood her after showing us in the previous seasons that he only sees her as a superhero IS NOT GOOD WRITING.

Having two girls be abused by a man with power for the majority of their lives only to leave them dead and alone as a direct consequence of the trauma they suffered IS VILE WRITING
