Woman with an iguana on her head in a Walmart. Real. Looks weird because of metal poles and subject matter, but commenters were quick to note all of God's creatures they have seen inside the megastore.

My cat got on a counter weird and broke my speaker. Real. Cats are weird. "Surely my cat cannot look like this." Must be new to cats. Some wondered why the brother took a pic instead of preventing a speaker catastrophe, but I think that's explanatory.

realizing that the online sphere and especially tumblr is NOT a good sample for ‘what everyone thinks’ is so, so, so good for your mental health and moral OCD. i swear to god. realizing that you don’t have to live your actual life like you’re being hunted for sport because the average tumblr user will hunt you for sport for wording something slightly weird or engaging in the wrong stuff or whatever is so incredible. like no you’re actually not fucked up and evil for not donating or for watching that one indie cartoon or questioning a post that everybody is agreeing with. that’s just tumblrs georg making you feel that way

Merrill's storyline greatly suffers from how badly the Dalish are handled outside of it and it makes me, a normal amount of mad.

Like so the thing is, Merrill's arc is not really about The Dalish as a whole. In the context of specifically just her arc her clan is a metaphorical stand in for a family unit. And that's part of why so much of her arc is about her like, receiving negative consequences from refusing to separate herself from them, and why there's such a critical tone around her work with the eluvian (which is an attempt to prove herself to a family that has already rejected her). And on it's own I really like this, it's pretty good. However dragon age as a whole is so, generally dismissive and derogatory to the Dalish and their culture that it overshadows this at best and puts a really uncomfortable spin on this at worst. If that makes sense.

The whole thing just makes so much more sense if viewed from the lens of "this is what happens to you if you spend too much of your life focused on your mother's opinions about you even though you are literally an adult and you don't even live with her anymore", and quotes from her writer back this reading up, but unfortunately the series did not earn enough cache with the audience to let them get away with this and it becomes more of a, pro-cultural assimilation narrative. At times.
