Hana sighed as she wiped her face off from the powdered sugar that managed to get onto her, which she wasn’t surprised considering the fact she ended up messy from cooking out of boredom. Sliding over the lemon squares and pointing at it, “Okay I think I made it just amount of sweet but also sour, not your usual lame lemon square you buy at the store either.”
Thalia looked down at the lemon squares. They looked awfully good and she was actually pretty excited about trying one. Or two or more. "Okay, I’m giving it a go because I love lemon squares and literally any sweets ever.” She picked one up and bit into it. “Oh man, this is good. Can I just have the whole plate?”
felix
In accord to her rather dramatic reunion with her cell phone, Felix chuckles humorously. He rarely properly registered others’ second natured connection with their phones, but considering the circumstances, he could get behind understanding it. Shaking his head, he merely quips, “my pleasure, and trust me, it’s nothing at all to me. I’d just hate to see someone else get a hold of it and do something they’re not supposed to.”
She was extremely thankful that she hadn’t completely lost her phone. Thalia didn’t like to be attached to it, but here she was almost losing her mind about being reunited with it. "Well, thank you so much. I hope I didn’t miss any calls. I’ve got too much on my plate right now to miss anything.” With Piece of Cake and her kids and the divorce, she had so much going on. It was hard to keep up with it all at this point.
kace
He really didn’t want to deal with this right now. It wasn’t that he didn’t owe it to her because he knew he did. He wanted to make this whole process painless, aside from the pain of the heartbreak, but right now he was busy. And as she continued to demand they talk now, Kace took a moment to look around before finally giving in. He let out a long, agitated sigh as she leaned his arms against the counter and took a brief second to prepare himself for what was probably going to happen. They fought so much when they were together, he could only imagine what it would be like now. “Fine, Thalia.” He let out, taking the rag from his back pocket and tossing it onto the back counter. “I’ll be in the back, Sam. Can you uh, hold down the fort?” He didn’t even let the woman answer before he stepped out from behind the pink counter and began walking toward the swinging doors that led to his back office. “What is this about?”
It was frustrating her how much he just didn’t seem to really care. Maybe it was the time of day. Maybe she shouldn’t have come right now. That was the only thought going through her head right now. She should’ve just signed the papers and gotten it over with. That probably would’ve been easier. No. She couldn’t just bend over backwards and do what she always did. She couldn’t be nice Thalia right now. That was not happening. So she waited for him to handle everything he needed to, arms folded across her chest. Not in impatience. It was more to shield herself from crumbling right now. She needed to keep her composure as best as she could. “Well, don’t make it seem like I’m inconveniencing you.” A sigh left her mouth as he finally started heading towards his back office. She stood there for a second before she actually followed him. “What do you mean ‘what is this about’? You know what this is about, Kace.” It happened before she could even stop it. Her eyes welling up with tears. All she could do was take a deep breath and tilt her head back to keep them at bay. “Allie picked this up from the mail and had it on the table when I got home.” She lifted up the envelope and placed it on his desk. “It’s like you don’t even care. It’s like it doesn’t even matter to you how this is going to affect me or the kids or anything. First you move out and now this. We didn’t talk through anything. You just...left. As if I didn’t even matter to you at all. And then these papers get sent in the mail. You don’t even hand them to me yourself. I mean, jeez, Kace.” She wiped at her eyes to hide any evidence of tears falling. “You don’t have to love me. I don’t need you to coddle me or anything, but I at least want some respect from you. For you to act like you at least loved me as a friend if it wasn’t as your wife.”
