Bastille just dropped the music video for their new single, Goosebumps. 

Honestly, I love this song a lot. And I love this version very very much. It’s different from the Kenny Beats ( which feels more polished and jazzy), and it’s also different from the One Eyed Jack’s version ( which cleaner with piano-only accompaniment). 

This version feels raw, more honest. Dan moves the way the man in the lyrics of his song would, achy, frustrated. And as I said before, I love it.  The other members (namely Charlie), also add to the whole subdued kind of mood. After all, Charlie is usually bouncing on the stage during most songs. 

The colours of the set also add an angsty-ish mood of the song, even though I imagine this song originally felt upbeat when you listened to it while watching to the visualizer. Personally, I feel like this mood suits the lyrics to the song more, but that’s just me. 

And this video, with this song, is cathartic for me.  Some might say the lyrics is about relationships. Some might say that Bastille never really sings about relationships.  Whatever it is they had in mind when they wrote this song, the melody echoes with the feelings that I feel and I just can’t put to words. 

Either way, personal rambles aside, their new EP is great, and you should give it a listen if you haven’t already! 

To a better 2021 than 2020 has been to us all. Xx
