what items would i need to find if i wanted to make a screen accurate antler queen costume? what goes into her costume?
Iâve already covered a lot of the pieces needed to assemble an Antler Queen costume in prior posts so Iâve linked them all below and added bios with additional information. I also included some bios that discuss the pieces I havenât already talked about to help provide more understanding about the costume as well as reference photos.
⢠Antler Queen Outfit Overview
This has a general overview of the pieces used for the costume and it has some tidbits from the costume designer.
⢠Antler Queen Earrings
This is a post where I identified are the exact earrings worn by the Antler Queen. There are two pairs used in the costume as well which is important to note.
At the time in which Iâd made this post I didnât have specific confirmation that the mesh dress was the veil but the costume designer has since talked about that being the case. They also recreated the vintage dress with crochet and then used those dresses in the new season.
This post explains how the antlers are attached to the costume.
While I havenât specifically made a post about this itâs made with a chunky knit sweater. The part that has an opening for the face seems to be a neck hole of the sweater so Iâd recommend looking for one with a smaller neck hole.
Iâm not exactly sure what material the cloak is made from but I did talk about some various fabrics in the post and their different advantages when using them for the costume.
⢠How To Attach Hair To The Cloak
When I originally posted this âtutorialâ I was theorizing based on some images from the costume in season 3 but Iâve since found confirmation that this is in fact the case from the costume designer.
I havenât talked about these either but they are made with sweater sleeves. They seem to be a smaller knit than the balaclava so Iâd guess theyâre from different sweaters.
⢠The Outfit Underneath
If you wanted get super accurate about the whole thing the pieces mentioned in the post I linked under the âfirst layerâ section is what Shauna is wearing underneath the Antler Queen outfit.
According to the costume designer there are also fur garters that cover the shins underneath the Antler Queen costume. I donât think weâve been able to see them in the episode or behind the scenes but Iâd guess theyâre probably brown (like most of the other fur) or maybe white ish to match the color palette better.
