I thought this calathea medallion was a goner. I had her for months and she was gorgeous but then winter came and it was very dry. I tried putting her next to a humidifier, misted her leaves, etc. She just kept dropping leaves though. Finally, I moved her downstairs (to a less sunny location actually) and put her on a pebble tray. Game changer! We are in a “stranger danger” phase at the moment. And in an “imagination” stage. She combines the two by thinking there are imaginary strangers in the house and needs to be attached to me half the day now. Little Blue Truck Sensory bin play, inspired by @blossom and root. I just had my house cleaned yesterday so, bringing dirt into the house was a little 😱🤷‍♀️ but she had fun! She listened pretty well with keeping it in the tub, but of course still managed to get dirt in her hair, on her pants, etc. Also, yes. Those are my Ugg boots thrown on the floor back there. Had to take Paxton to the emergency get on Friday night (and was very impressed with them, by the way. Very fast, very efficient and very caring). He has been stiff/sore for a few weeks and I had an appointment for him this week. However, Friday night he could barely walk at all, it was so sad and he was clearly in a lot of pain. After x-rays and bloodwork, they think it was likely a Lyme disease flair up from when he had Lyme more than 3 years ago (even though he was treated for it back then). So, bed rest, antibiotics and pain medicine is what is in order. Happy New Year everyone! Hope your 2019 is all you want it to be! My goals/resolutions for this year: ⠀⠀ 1. Teach Penelope that there's no such thing as "bad weather days", we just have to dress appropriately and prepare for all different types of weather. I want to try to get outside to play EVERY day no matter the weather (I've been bad about this). I don't want her to think that she has to just "suffer through" and wait for the bright sunny days in life. Every day can be beautiful. 2. More sensory/messy play 3. Introduction to art and music (which goes along with messy play because we are going to be doing more art!) 4. Get dressed/do makeup/hair - just enough to where I feel like I can go outside and feel confident 5. MORE decluttering/minimizing 6. Finger painting today. I promised myself I would do more messy-sensory play with Penelope. She doesn’t generally like being messy and dirty, but I also think I may hold her back in the house at least by not offering this type of play very often. I’m going to try to be better about this going forward. It actually went really well, and she truly enjoyed it! Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope that you all have had a wonderful day 🎄 ⠀⠀ Christmas Eve was spent at the Wells Christmas celebration. Penelope didn’t stop for more than 5 minutes all day, no nap, and only one meltdown in the middle of opening presents of all things! She was so tired by the time we left that she could barely walk but would you believe she didn’t sleep a wink on the whole 3 hour car ride home, and we got home at midnight! 😳😭 It’s really so amazing to me that she won’t sleep literally anywhere except at home, but that’s a whole different story 😂 We enjoyed seeing family and Penelope loved playing with Andrew (Joy Farino Wells ) and Bobby Klein. She even said she wanted to go to Bobby’s house to play 😂😍 We are so thankful for all of the wonderful gifts she got! ⠀⠀ My mom and grandma (Jane Hamlett) came this morning to see Penelope’s Christmas stuff. We had such a late night, this morning Penelope said “my eyes are foggy” because she was still so tired! Haha! Penelope was super shy and wouldn’t look when she came down to see the gifts, then later said she was “sad that she was too shy to even look”. She got so many wonderful things and we truly enjoyed the time together with family and with our own little family. First time riding the train at the mall. It’s a small little train that just goes in s circle but if y’all could see the magic and wonder in her eyes.😍 It was just the sweetest thing and she was so excited. Also, that’s a slip I think (it was given to us with some dresses) and I was putting it away to wear when she grows a little more but she saw it and fell in love with it. Rearranged the playroom (again 😂😭) to make it more functional for an almost 3 year old and soon to be preschool room. This is the “in progress” photo but basically the train table is in the middle of the room, the kitchen/doll/vet area is on one side and the trampoline/slide area is on the other.
