Throughout his ancient life, he’d witnessed his fair share of the extraordinary. He now relegated his days to rebuilding the royal library, collecting ancient tomes and scrolls that would have the answers to any question his king could think of. A yellow cockatiel warbled on his shoulder as he repaired the binding of an old, leathery textbook titled: The Worlds Man Cannot See.
“Of course I believe in it,” he stammered. “Must I remind you that not only was I kidnapped and taken to one of those worlds? Really, you have to keep an open mind about these matters!”
The cockatiel flew off to one of the many branches winding in and out of the walls -- perfect for all his rare birds and parrots to climb on. Merlin turned around, surprised to see someone else. “I was, erm, talking with the bird,” he said. “I’m afraid the library is closed while under repair, so you’ll have to return another time. As you can see, we’re falling apart at the seams...” Merlin gestured to the crumbling scaffolding and furniture that’d been damaged during the wedding fiasco. Even before the wedding, the library had left much to be desired.
