I think it comes from a place of wanting to see more lesbian representation. But the western yuri fandom sets the bar for "lesbian representation" so high that it becomes obvious that the fandom just views everyone as het by default.

That assumption's deeply baked into the term "yuribait", which straight-up accuses artists of acting in bad faith and disguising the heterosexuality in order to emphasize that lesbianism is just a phase to the audience. I can think of a few cases where that term might apply (Wonder Egg, Eupho), but on the whole it's basically just holding yuri works to a higher standard of romance because again, the audience views heterosexuality as the default. Despite yuri being a genre where lesbian and f/f queerplatonic relationships are the norm.

tbh it's cruel to tell young girls on here that lesbians and bisexual women don't care about body hair and weight and skin and so on and so forth because they're going to find out it's a lie one way or another. women who are attracted to women are not magically exempt from having patriarchal beauty standards engrained in them and from punishing other women/girls for it and it isn't helping anyone to pretend we are.
