Hmmm okay but just stop for a second. Close your eyes. Just imagine being warm, cosy, safe, at peace with the love of your life all the time. That’s what living with Steven Grant feels like. He is the most precious bean and every single minute he spends in your company is just fizzing and overflowing with the sheer amount of ardour and exaltation seeping out of every cell. Like, just 24/7 puppy dog heart eyes, with that little head tilt he does when he’s really admiring something and mouth slightly agape as if it’s taking every ticking clog in his brain to keep functioning and not overload from just the very sight of you. And there’s a lot of them - if Steven could, he would gladly spend the rest of his life just staring after you with those kind, wonderstruck eyes and wringing hands, still wondering how on earth in this insane, wild universe he managed to capture enough luck to love you.
He spends a lot of time running out last thing at night because he forgot to pick up the milk after work, but then he comes rushing in the door an hour later with dishevelled hair, an armful of new Egyptology books and absolutely not a drop of milk in sight.
He makes it up by cuddling up with you on the sofa every night though!! He genuinely can’t help it, it seems to physically ache his chest if he can’t hold you close to his chest and squeal into your neck in joy at least once a day. Plus, he always gets all crestfallen and quiet if you won’t canoodle with him, and spends the whole time staring at his feet and wondering how he’d messed up this time. So please let him wrap his back around you and lift his knees over your thighs like a backpack on the sofa!! He just likes to feel warm and loved as he sticks on the latest episode of the anime he’s been binge watching in his spare time. You’re so comfortable and he feels so secure pressed flushed against your back that you can usually hear light snores brush back and forth against the shell of your ear about fifteen minutes into the allotted daily cuddle time.

So this is going to be. Inarticulate because I'm upset and not ready to cite sources but uh. Episode Five of Moon Knight is so incredibly ableist and pluralphobic its absurd. Hi! We're Jewish, we're a system, we've read some of the comics, and we're here to give a basic overview of *why* this Episode specifically was so horrible.
For starters, what they got right. DID is in fact caused by ongoing childhood trauma, like an abusive parent. Alters form to protect each other from this trauma, often times with some alters who can remember it (Like Marc) and some who can continue to live a normal life free from that burden (Like Steven). Alters often don't know about each other, or some will know and some won't. There being one alter who can fight and protect them and one who can hold down a job and an apartment is also pretty accurate.
What they got wrong: Oh my god literally everything else. Lets break it down.
1) The Core/Original: while some systems do identify with this framework, the majority dont and it doesnt have much backing. DID isnt "there is one person and then a second one forms", it is "before a solid state of personhood is reached (generally as a teen) trauma causes amnesia barriers, causing two or more sets of memories to form, from which two or more persons arise". there is no more an "original" as there is an original cake once its been sliced up to serve, or ceramic plate once its broken.
1b) Marc "Constructing" Steven: Alters don't make each other, it is a process done by the brain itself. DID systems can no more "construct alters" than you can choose to forget an embarrassing memory. its something that either just happens or doesnt
2) Pushing for Integration against the system's wishes. Integration/Fusion is a process where two alters break down the amnesia barrier between them and "fuse" into one person. Some Systems choose this as a treatment option, so that they can effectively become a singlet and function "normally". Some Systems don't, and consider Integration to be more harmful for them. Both of these are fine, but you *cannot* push a system into one if they haven't *all* agreed to it. Marc doesn't want to integrate. He doesn't want Steven to remember the trauma he holds. Forcing them to integrate anyway on threat of essentially hell and the world ending? Is incredibly fucked up.
3) Alter Death. Alters don't die. They can fuse, or go dormant (like a coma, essentially) and their system may *perceive* or refer to this as death, but its not. Steven dying in the show is more of a "magical soul removal" type thing, but this very much isn't something that happens in real life.
4) Overtness. DID is a covert disorder. it exists to keep you safe, its not going to make you even more of a target by making the system switch to a blatantly different accent. While alters do often have different accents when they feel safe enough to show them, they're also great at pretending to be each other, and Steven would at least have had the same accent as Marc when they first split as a child.
Anyway! thats not everything wrong with the show or even this episode but those were the super blatant and potentially dangerous pieces of misinformation I had to correct now. We'll probably make a more detailed/informative/sourced post after the finale.
sad to read about a show that i so dearly love, but it is so SO important to raise marginalised voices. i with singlets and non-Jewish people would stop silencing them just because they don't want to accept that their favourite piece of media has flaws.
to all Jewish people and DID Systems, your feelings are valid, and you deserve to be heard. to anyone who sees this, please spread to make sure that we lessen the misinformation.
looking at my oscillating fixation between steven grant and newt scamander, i think it's safe to say that i have a thing for pure, kindhearted souls with specific special interests and a soft spot for their mothers. oh and of course they're both british
NEWT SCAMANDER X ORIGINAL MALE CHARACTER
Hello! This is an interest check. The Harry Potter fandom (especially the Fantastic Beasts fandom,) feels rather dead to me right now — and understandably so — but my hands have been itching so very badly to write a Newt Scamander fic that's been burned in the back of my head. (Mind you, this idea has been here since 2018!)
As writer, my motivation runs on interaction and engagement :( So, this interest check is here to help me see if my efforts shall be worth it. Do like, reblog, or comment if you'd like to see my work!
#SUMMARY/OVERVIEW:
(This fic takes place during the 2nd film, The Crimes of Grindelwald. There are some alterations here and there, but nothing too drastic.)
Instead of hiding from the Ministry, Newt’s travel ban is lifted under the condition that he is accompanied by an Auror.
Theseus Scamander has a friend; a partner. An Auror by the name of Theodore Turner, who is known as one of the Ministry of Magic’s greatest wizards. (He also happens to be Newt’s old Slytherin schoolmate.) He is skilled, intelligent, and quick on his feet. However, beyond his brilliance as an officer, lies a snarky and somewhat self-centered personality that has the tendency to irk people.
Despite Newt’s very strong emotions for Mr. Turner, he has no choice but to cooperate and spend a good couple of months with the Auror if it means being able to travel internationally again. Throughout their time together, the men form an unlikely bond; and the Magizoologist discovers a certain talent that his probation officer keeps secret.
Or
Newt Scamander, a Magizoologist, and Theodore Turner, a renowned Auror, are anything but similar. With such contrasting personalities, one may think that it would be impossible for them to ever get along. And that would be correct, if it weren’t for a certain passion that they share. Beyond their differences, lies an undying love for all magical creatures.
#GENRE: action, romance, buddy-cop (of sorts), semi-slowburn, enemies to lovers type beat, conflicted emotions because Newt still has feelings for Tina.
#MORE ON THEODORE TURNER:
Theodore Philip Lockley Turner is a renowned Auror from the British Ministry of Magic. He has created a name for himself, for solving the most cases in the history of the organisation, and for also arresting some of London’s most dangerous criminals. He is yet to be faced with a case that he cannot solve. He is the pureblood son of Cecil Turner (deceased) and Arnold Lockley (deceased). Currently 35 years old, he stands at 6 feet and 2 inches tall, has thick, short black hair, dark-brown eyes, and dark skin. His usual attire is a beige-colored long coat.
As a young wizard, he attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and was sorted into the Slytherin House. He was known for his childish antics, always found beside his batchmate, Theseus Scamander, causing trouble wherever his recklessness allowed it. Upon turning sixteen, his personality had taken a drastic turn. From his sixth to seventh year, he had taken his studies much more seriously, and was even appointed as Head Boy for all of his academic achievements.
Theodore is sociable, extroverted, and capable of speaking to almost anyone. He will not shy away from a conversation, or sit idly by while a party commences. People claim that there are two sides to him; the side for fun, and the side for work. His side for work is a very serious man who takes no time to joke around. Once he’s into a case, he won’t ever let it go. He can be hardworking when he wants to be. He’s as persistent as he is stubborn, known for violating the Ministry’s orders every once in a while. The only reason as to why he gets away with it is because it always works out.
His likes and hobbies include jazz, sketching, puzzle-solving, and drinking. (He also bears a secret liking towards mythical creatures.)
#EXTRA FACTS:
He does not like being called “Theodore” and prefers the name “Theo”. (He doesn’t like “Philip” either.)
His mother bred hippogriffs up until her death. He tried to maintain her flock after her passing, but failed to do so due to his studies.
His favourite food is sugar-dusted bread with a nice glass of wine.
He enjoys sketching and has dozens upon dozens of unfinished sketchbooks in his desk.
He wears his mother’s wedding ring as a pendant, and hopes to share it with the love of his life some day.

i literally love moon knight so much. it’s so detail oriented in the smallest ways and oscar isaac pulls it off flawlessly
you can easily tell who’s who. even the way they style their hair! stevens is parted to the side while marc’s it swooped back
marc stands guard even though he’s clearly terrified while steven flails his arms, backs away, and fiddles with the rags on the cart anxiously. it looks like steven is about to book it 💀
their stealth too. stevens is timid and almost like tiptoeing while marc’s is calculated and stealthy, like he’s most likely done this before.
and their clothes! marc’s sleeves are bunched up while steven has his way pass his hands, just like sweater paws.
EVEN THEIR STANCE IS DIFFERENT!! steven is slouched while marc stands straight.

Steven Grant is not someone who’s used to being looked after. Apart from his mum, nobody’s ever really looked twice at him for as long as he can remember. Usually when he’s feeling a bit under the weather, he’ll stay curled up by himself at home and watch anime, or if the London weather is playing nice he’ll take a stroll down to one of the nearby squares and sit on a bench to watch all the happy families and lovers float by. So when you come knocking on the door, having got his voicemail that ‘he won’t be able to make it to brunch today, or work for that matter. Sorry, I love you, laters *acHOO* gaters’, he’s more than a little astonished.
There he’s standing - in his eyes, the absolute picture of a mess. A tissue fisted in his hand, eyes groggy and bloodshot from lack of sleep, sniffling nose blowing the curls on his forehead with gusty wind every time he took a breath. And here you were, looking at him with sympathy - in his eyes, the absolute picture of an angel. He’s so taken aback, that at first he tries to politely shoo you out of his apartment with awkward apologies, just because he’s so worried that he’s going to make you ill as well. He feels sick to his stomach at the thought that you’re stuck here, having to take care of pathetic ol’ him when barely anyone in his life wants to talk to him or pay attention to anything he says or does at the best of times.
But you love him, and deep within his fragile, rabbit heart he knows that. And he adores you more than anything in all these eddying night skies, which is evident to you from the way his soul seems to pour out of his love struck eyes and pierce your chest with every anxious glance your way. Even near delirium, he couldn’t help it. The love had to come out somehow, overflowing from his creases and patchwork edges, otherwise it would choke him from the inside out, holding his every move captive.
