he should have known it was a rather idiotic idea. selfish, even. but victoria couldn’t help but suggest it, and so victor asked. it was obvious that emily would make a good mother. death had stopped scaring him at this point, but he had no idea what would happen to him if he actually did die. which part of the afterlife would he end up in? how long would it take him to find his way back to wife and child? not to mention, it was an honor, and the least he could do for emily.

coraline excitedly waits on standby as she anticipates his attempt of her name. people were always messing up her name, she’d probably need a hundred hands just to count them off. it wasn’t perfect, his recital, but it was enough to make her smile. he wasn’t so bad after all. ‘ close enough mr. van dort. ’ a look around the dull grey building reminds of her of home before looking up at victor. ‘ i live in the pink palace apartments. — it’s not really pink anymore but it used to be. ’

the name rings a dim bell; he’s sure he’s heard it somewhere. though he can find it even if he hasn’t heard it. there are maps strewn about father’s office, dotted with colored lines and symbols specific to fish delivery. fresh fish, after all, catches a prettier penny than every other fish, and the shorter the travel, the fresher the fish. several city maps are laid out for the purpose of route- tracking. it will be no trouble to return miss jones to her parents. “i’m sure it’s just in need of a fresh coat of paint, miss. it’ll be pinker than blush then.” victor smiles, leading the way through to the office.

6. if you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?

AHAHAHAHAHHAHA i’ve actually been trying to do this, mostly for my autoplay. while i haven’t found it. i mean, the autoplay i have now is victor’s piano solo. he composed that himself. that’s as close to “his song” i can get. but like ask me which rl person he resembles and it’s edgar allan poe so there. priorities.

7. how does your character perceive themselves? positive? negative? neutral?

outlook wise, victor thinks he’s pretty negative. as in, he knows he’s a melancholy person, and he’s inwardly pessimistic while outwardly optimistic. keeps his “bad” thoughts to himself. he’s pretty neutral-good when it comes down to it. law doesn’t matter to him so much as morals.

8. are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?

he’s a quick thicker. (points at the whole “you should meet my parents!!!” and “fights with a fuckin fork,” scenes.) he’s clever, and he usually knows what he wants to do the second something happens. he prefers, however, to think things over. usually he ends up deciding upon his first instinct, and he’s not out of his element if a situation requires him to think on his feet, but he’d rather weigh things through and make the pro/con list.

“c --- oraline,” he repeated, nearly stumbling over her name. he’d almost pronounced it caroline, and it seems, from the emphasis she put on it, that mispronunciation was something of a thorn in her side. “a pleasure to meet you, miss jones.” it was easier --- and safer --- to refer to the girl by her surname. if there was one thing victor tried his very hardest to be, it was polite. “where do you live? we should get in touch with your parents.”
