OKAY so in the comics whenever dream talks to anyone, they hear it in whatever language they speak or are most comfortable with (in dream's words, "you hear what you need to hear"), and now i'm thinking about how when dream comes to calliope at madoc's place...that's the first time calliope has heard greek spoken to her in more than sixty years.

How shitty it would have been if Calliope was imprisoned for that extra 32 years like Dream was. I very much appreciate the decision for Calliope not to suffer longer than she did in the comics. 63 years is more than enough misery, let alone 95.

So I've written a blog showing how the character of Richard Madoc appears to have been brought into alignment with Neil Gaiman's own persona for the purposes of the Netflix adaptation of "Calliope." This analysis also deals with how aspects of this episode have shifted following the allegations of sexual misconduct levied against Gaiman.

It's creepy af, y'all.
