10 Things That Freak Me Out About the Toy Story Universe

The Toy Story films are legendary for being surprisingly emotionally-taxing, gut-wrenching experiences for animated films about toys voiced by Forrest Gump and Tim ‘The Tool Man’ Taylor. The first film dealt with the feeling of being “replaced” by someone newer, cooler, and shinier, and the value of friendship through it all. The second film focused on abandonment and loved ones moving on. And the third film….Christ, the third film had a sequence about calmly accepting the inevitability of death.

But there are even more unsettling things going on in Toy Story - things baked into the very premise of the universe. Things that reveal a much more horrifying picture than the PG-related films we’ve seen so far…

Likes can only go so far for artists. Artists may exclusively upload their artwork to tumblr, or don’t have the time to use other sites and prefer tumblr over deviantART due to its simplicity, but the tagging system can make it harder to navigate. Many artists on tumblr tag with high-traffic tags or use their own tags to prevent tag clogging which eventually become lost. That’s why it’s very important to reblog an artist’s work. 

I’m not trying to push you to ruin your blog’s aesthetic or something, nor am I saying that “you must absolutely reblog your favourite artist’s work or you’re trash”, all I’m saying is if you truly want to support your favourite artist, instead of just liking their posts, try to reblog them once in a while. The more reblogs they receive, the more exposure/notes/followers they may receive, and it’s just one of the easiest ways to show you care about them.

It is truly one of my favorite kind of arts of the fandom, there are good ones, really good ones and also bad and terrible bad ones, but referring to the good quality part of it, the amount of them is really big, if you’re an enthusiast of Pony-NSFW, you’ll agree that the originality and variability is amazing and some times stunning. But as good as that could sound to a clopper, there’s also how easy and accessible this kind of art is, and I don’t mean for young people this time, I mean for everyone, it just hurts the image of the fandom and cartoon overall. I wouldn’t want the art to go away but I also don’t want it to be so public. I really think that Clop Art should be stored but accessible on a Deep Web site, so only people that REALLY want to see it, access the site. I know that at this point is practically impossible to even dream of something like that but one can dream.

As you may have heard, Warner Bros has announced an upcoming live action “Static Shock” series. As longtime fans of the late Dwayne McDuffie’s writing and characters, this is overwhelmingly exciting news. The first thought on my mind is who will be our new Virgil Hawkins. I’m rooting for Tony Ray. I hope he can at least get an audition. Tony is an actor and costumer, and an avid Static fan for many years. Playing Static in this series is his dream. He would bring a love of the work and a dedication to the role that few could match.
