The ANBU arc is so funny. 12 episodes of Kakashi being traumatized in every way possible and committing casual treason. In the midst of his worst depression era, he somehow finds the energy to:

Assist in an attempted coup/assassination of the third hokage

Break into the Hokage's personal library to look at classified documents

Falsify Mission Reports, concealing information about a high-profile criminal and a kekkai genkai Konoha would definitely like to know about

Disobey the Hokage's direct orders

and break into a semi-secret black ops branch, where he assaults multiple Konoha shinobi, frees someone he doesn't actually have the right to, and attempts to fight one of the highest ranking members in the village

And despite barely attempting to hide ANY of it, he doesn't end up getting punished at all. Teen Kakashi was basically BEGGING to be executed, pushing passive-suicidality to it's absolute limit, but god literally won't let him die.
