I LOVED Alfira so much and I was SO PUMPED when she joined my camp. And then my Durge did THIS. WHY. 😭 I've thought about nothing else for the rest of Act 1.

I found this fabulous foggy tree print duvet cover at the thrift store a few months ago and this week I made it into an 18th century style wrapper. It was a very convenient material, as it already comes with a co-ordinating lining fabric in the same size.

I cut the lining as one big piece along the length of the fabric. For the tree print I had to cut it in half lengthwise, rip a strip off the tops of those halves, and sew the tops together before cutting. It's about 15 cm shorter than the wearable mockup I'd made a few years ago, but that's ok. (Though I do wish I'd cut the lining in the same way as the outer, because if I'd done that it could have been full length.)

I had to piece the ends of the sleeves too, and the cuffs don't entirely cover it, but the colours are mostly pretty close. The piecing is very uneven, that's just the way the cutting turned out. It's such a pain to line up and smooth out large pieces evenly on the floor, and my main concern was getting the seam joining the two tree halves lined up along the top of the shoulders.

It's too warm to wear it right now, but I'm sure I'll wear it a lot when it starts to get cooler. It's fairly thin and 100% cotton, so it's a good lightweight extra layer.

I'd like to make another one someday in a more 18th century appropriate material, and perhaps that one can be a bit heavier and warmer.

The cuffs aren't stiff enough to stay folded up on their own, and slowly slipped down a little just in the short time I was trying it on for pictures. I considered tacking them in place or using small safety pins, but then I remembered I have an inherited matching pair of blue rhinestone brooches, and they're doing the job just fine.

Not feeling too hot today for obvious reasons, but I won’t just stop making art. So, here’s another creepy bulbasaur. This one’s bulb functions much like a pitcher plant, trapping prey or enemies inside and dissolving them. I can’t think of a good name for this guy.
