Angels don't dream; they just can't. Castiel doesn't even know what a dream is or how it should feel and really he doesn't even sleep, but sometimes he'll go off to his favorite spot in heaven and close his eyes for a moment. He doesn't know exactly what happens, but he imagines that it must be dreaming because in those times he is somehow transported to Earth and lives the life of a normal human.

It's in one of these "dreams" that he meets Dean Winchester and finds himself entangled in his life.

He asks his brothers if they know what dreams are like, but they ignore him or give him vague answers. Then he goes to the pools and peers down at the humans below thinking maybe he might find the man in his dreams walking around among the billions of other people walking the Earth.
