About me!

Hello, I'm going by Ward here as I intend to keep this a space separate from those I know IRL due to personal reasons.

I am a Germanic/Celtic pagan from Nova Scotia. I worship Nahelennia in a more modern, broad sense than what was used historically. Seeing her as both a goddess of the ocean, and of nature, rain, and travel in general is my interpretation.

I speak Dutch, English, and French(along with the dead languages of Gothic and Latin) and am often working on linguistics as it is a hobby of mine. I will converse in any of these languages, but will be posting primarily in English and Dutch. If you are a Dutch speaker please understand my dutch is neither standard nor modern, and I may lack some modern terms or spelling conventions.

I tend to go by he/him or he/they pronouns, but am fine with any. I am taken by my wonderful partner. I block people at my own discretion and and will not take harassment.

I am not neurotypical, but have found that naming my disorders lead people to talk down to me, as such I will avoid doing that for now, please understand.

I enjoy writing, photography, linguistics, and discussing complex topics relating to religion, history, and linguistics, among others. I will be posting photography, some art, and some writing made specifically with paganism in mind, as my general writing is both non relevant to this page and can be traced back to me.

I want mutuals! If you want to be mutuals with me I would be more than happy to be. I enjoy conversation but am not always the fastest at responding to it.

My belief system is complex and kinda weird, I will explain it elsewhere.

I found a nice place to pray on my way home from school.

It's pretty secluded for being just off a path, has a lovely flat rock in the sun to sit on, and has a bunch of flowers to take my pick from.

I love the casual substitution of "gods" instead of "god" in colloquial sayings. "oh my gods" "gods, my feet hurt" etc etc. like yeah deconstruct the societal standard of monotheism with me. let's party

If you are depressed and have slacked on your worshipping, THATS OKAY!!! The gods want you to take care of yourself!!! Take some time for yourself!!! If you wanna still want to worship but too depressed to, do some small things.

Ex: Zeus:admire the weather, apollon: play some music, etc..

I don’t know who needs to hear this,

There was no universal Scandinavian religion, or Slavic, or Celtic.

They were multiple mini cultures with changing and differing views.

That’s why we have different beliefs on who was the ‘High God’ in the Norse myths and physical evidence that we have left. Tyr, Freyr, Odin; have all been the High God in different cultures. Because people didn’t collect under orthodox and shared religion in a pre Christian world the way they do now.

You can now make a more collective religion, but saying there was always one, is a mistake at best and pseudo history at worst.

If you are a Nazi, you have no place in paganism.

(Or anywhere, actually 🙂)

And to clarify (since ya'll need that, apparently), that includes people who are transphobic, homophobic, pro-eugenics (i.e. social darwinism anti-vaxxer people), anti-immigrant, racist, etc.

Ya'll don't belong here, paganism is not a safe place for you, and I don't want you interacting with my blog.

Rate my little altar (WIP).

I've taken to filling a shot glass with rainwater and keeping plants in it as an offering. The bleeding hearts were that withered when I found them and I picked the dandelion too short(will work on that lol) but I do really like the feeling of picking singular flowers from plants during prayer and storing them in rainwater, it feels very sacred to me.

The seashells and such are due to Nehalennia being a sea goddess, and the candle is for prayer and also makes my room smell nice.

I also have some tarot and Celtic astrology cards I use, but am unsure if I should place them in this hidden altar in my closet or leave them resting in the sunlight and moonlight while hidden behind my curtain.

Unfortunately, keeping the altar in the open is not a possibility, so I leave it in an openable closet instead.
