Dear Neil, I' ve enjoied your performance with Yann Tiersen here in Prato you' re incredible, you have enchanted us thanks for this wonderful evening ! Kisses Luisa
Hey Luisa, thanks for your kind words about the show. It was a really great one to play! Lots of fun in such a beautiful place with a lovely audience! Neil
This begins with a nod to Max Roach's classic "The Drum Also Waltzes" then heads off into Bilge Pump territory. I stand by the 'advice' given at the start too.
The well beaten and bent bass drum beater of Bilge Pump.
This book of double stroke drills is one of my favourites. I found it in the bargain bin years ago. Got to love the minimal set up on the cover too.

What We Talk About When We Talk About Drums.
This is an excerpt of the live performance of a piece I composed for 36 drummers. The edit doesn't give a sense of how the parts travelled down the line and through the formation of drummers, but it captures the atmosphere, the varied cast of players, and the euphoric free playing in the end section.
We didn't rehearse, but everyone knew what to play. The intention was to avoid sounding too slick and polished and to leave room for the unexpected. And it did go awry in places, but I think the unintended echoes sound stunning as the drummers at one end slip out of time by an eighth note from the drummers at the other end. There's a beautiful tension before everyone finds there way back to the same beat again.

Which kit’s that?
First time i've played this kit in over three years. It still sounds awesome.

Hey Neil, just thought I would 'say hi'... found your blog and it's nice to see you putting your stuff out there. Great to see what you've been up to, still love your style! Take it easy. Nick (soeza earle codex bristol) x
Thanks Nick, nice to hear from you. I hope you're keeping well. I'll put more drum stuff up soon. All the best. Neil.
Good times, cold times.
