@neisukis
me ignoring the rest of the chapter so i can admire shigaraki’s page
I’m sorry I love them
If Shigaraki actually responds to Deku with “I wont forgive anyone” then my heart is actually broken, Shigaraki just wanted to be fucking saved, this entire mess could have been solved 15 years ago if someone had just fucking saved this poor kid. Im actually not okay right now. Even now, while fighting all these Heroes, all Shigaraki is thinking about is how none of them ever tried to save him when he needed them to, yet here they all are (literally every single Gosh darn Hero in Japan is here rn) ready to kill him.
Neito Monoma: An Editorial
Neito Monoma would not be anti-Quirkless or be barking at anything that moves until his voice gave out, but y'all aren't ready for that talk yet.
Neito Monoma has been on the receiving end of Quirk discrimination, has only ever singled out those with "strong" Quirks when he was antagonizing them 1-on-1 (e.g. Katsuki, Izuku), and was able to work with Hitoshi Shinso, who is outside of his 1-B trust circle with his own "unfavorable" Quirk, but y'all aren't ready for that talk yet.
Neito Monoma has yet to antagonize the entirety of any of UA's other departments, or the entirety of UA altogether. The sole focus of his ire is Class 1A and any of 1B's apparent competitors, and regardless of any skewed reasoning towards either, he has never strayed from this target. But y'all aren't ready for that talk yet.
Neito Monoma is completely unaware of Izuku's past circumstances, and like most of society only sees his strong Quirk and the limelight that 1A is "hogging," but y'all aren't ready for that talk yet.
Neito Monoma is a cunning tactician who uses his words like weapons in order to get his opponents to falter so that he can have a shot at the cutthroat Hero industry. In any given scenario, he does not bolster himself to the forefront, instead acting as a team player to ensure the overall victory of his teammates, because their goals are just as important as his own, if not more so. But y'all aren't ready for that talk yet.
...or maybe y'all are. Surprise me.
TL;DR, Neito Monoma's an ass, but he's not the walking personification of evil, and I think that needs to he recognized.

Hawks trying to tell the Todoroki family about Dabi’s true identity, but every time he tries to explain it, it comes out as a black speech bubble so they have to play charades like:
Hawks: “Okay. Pay attention.”
Hawks points to Endeavor, then Natsuo & Shoto.
Shoto: “I don’t get it.”
Hawks stressfully points to Endeavor, then Shoto.
Natsuo: “I know we just met, but you suck at charades.”
Hawks: “You suck at charades!”
Endeavor: “Enough. What are you trying to say, Hawks?”
Hawks points to Endeavor-
Endeavor: “No more charades!”
Hawks, groans: “What is Natsuo to you?”
Endeavor: “My son.”
Hawks: “What is Shoto to you?”
Endeavor: “My son.”
Hawks: “Yes! Exactly! So Dabi is also?”
Endeavor: “My son?!”
Hawks: “And his name is?!”
Fuyumi: “Touya?!”
Hawks: “Yes! That’s it!!”
Natsuo: “Amazing. Just when you think the family couldn’t get any more dysfunctional our dead brother comes back to life.”
Shoto: “I told you someone was a secret love child.”
Another reason why I started liking the LoV, specifically Shig, is because he’s a good leader. I mean, he’s definitely still learning, but tbh he’s doing better than All Might.
What I mean is that Shigaraki doesn’t become a pillar, he needs the support of the others around him to be functional and actually get stuff done unlike All Might who tends to push people away and do everything himself to make it look like he’s invincible. What I like about bnha is that there is this undertone message seen through the villains that you can’t do it alone. Essentially that’s where All Might failed. He became the single thing holding society together and once he was gone shit starts to hit the fan.
But Shigaraki on the other hand, he knows he needs a team. He knows that he has to put his faith in other people in order to get the job done (as seen in that one scene where Toga and Twice are questioning why he’s giving them a task to fuck shit up with Overhaul and he’s just like “because I trust you”). All Might asks people to put faith in him, Shigaraki takes it one step further and puts his faith in other people.
Whereas All Might is empowered by the people, Shigaraki empowers people. Its even obvious with the way All Might trains Deku (or at least when he’s starting out). During the Sportsfest, All Might wanted Deku to show the world he was here, just like Toshinori did during his first Sportsfest. He wants Deku to be the next Symbol of Peace. But thats not right, he’s just trying to groom another All Might. A real teacher teaches a student how to be themselves, not just another version of the teacher.
Shig s young, so he’s not exactly looking for a successor, but the way he interacts with the league, its not like he wants them to be like him or conform or agree to everything he says. He understands their pushbacks and all. Shig helps the league be themselves. That why you get some pretty wide ranged personalities in there. I think the big reason I like Shigaraki is because he doesn’t want people to rely on him, he gives them a avenue to be something more than what they are.
Much like Deku to his classmates, the league sees Shigaraki and wants to be better and to do something. Unlike Deku tho, Shigaraki isn’t there as their competitor, he acts as their pathway.
I don’t know if any of that makes sense but this is just a longwinded way of saying you can’t do it alone. Not because you actually can’t, but because the world is bigger than just you.
The most powerful hero isn’t the one that has the power to save everyone, but the one that shows people they have the power inside themselves.
obviously if this doesn’t happen as a natural progression from the ‘my first errand’ nickname situation I’m going to be very disappointed
also Midoriya is 166cm tall while Sero is 177 so I mean
I love how when Shigaraki was introduced it was just “okay so this dude wants to destroy everything, that’s the only thing he wants to do, nothing else, just destroy, which very convenient because his quirk allow him to do just that. Also he’s covered in hands for some reasons, he hates all might guts and want to kill children for funsies and he talk like he’s in a video game” he was so cartoonishly villain the first time I saw him I couldn’t take him seriously because I found him absolutely hilarious.
But now, now that we know he’s been abused to hell and back and groomed to become AFO angry murdery pet. That AFO made sure he’ll never recover from his trauma, that he’ll stay emotionally unstable and dependent from him. Took away his name, to remodel him into what he wants him to be. Isolated him from other people except from Kurogiri who was literally made to be his personal caretaker. That video games must have been one of the only form of “contact” from the outside world he got for years, outside of y’know murders. That he’s wearing his family and victims remains even thought he said himself it made him sick because AFO encourage him to, so he can stay enraged. That he believe he doesn’t need a future and that destroying everything is the only thing he can do.
He’s been brainwashed to be a murder machine yet he still is kind toward the rest of league, calling them his “nakama”, ready to fight an entire army to rescue them if needed and ready to kill when someone mess with their feelings. He cares a lot and literally his first thought when he learned that an entire army, that included multiple people with a lot of political influence, was willing to be under his command was to think how he now had the money for Compress’ sushi, something he had mentioned once over a month ago and he remembered. He never contradicted missing Kurogiri either and said that his nakama could do as they please/didn’t have to do anything they didn’t want to when he talked about his plan to destroy everything.
But he’s still brainwashed and let himself being experimented on by Ujiko because he wants more power. Even though he knows the Nomus often lose their sense of self and are basically made into murderous monsters. He’s doing everything AFO wants him to do, he becoming everything AFO wants him to become. And he died for it. It’s very obvious he won’t stay dead for long, he’s the main antagonist and the story is far from over. But right now, even if just temporary, Shigaraki died. Killed by the people who groomed him into become a villain. And it was planned since the moment they bought him with them. And once he’ll come back he will most certainly still do what they wants him to do
.
The only form of actual free will he have, when he doesn’t destroy or plan on destroying, he express it by being kind and caring towards his friends. A part of him is still the same kind child who played with the other rejected kids. The main antagonist is one of the biggest victims of the manga and no one knows. The heroes dehumanises him like they do with every other villains. The league is full of people who were discarded, abused, villainized or weren’t saved. And Shigaraki made sure his friends had a place to go, promised them they’ll get their revenge against the society that gave up on them. And that’s something he decided to do. He could have just used them, treated them as nothing else than assets and pawns like AFO treats him. But he chooses to care. Because despite everything he is still kind.
And that just destroys me.
here! he! is!
punks are like onions
you think dabi has topics prepared for when he’s in battle or??? like yeah he comes up with shit on the spot because if not then it wouldn’t make sense but you think he has a list of topics he could possibly incorporate into his little monologue? like he’s thought up several scenarios and what he could say and blah blah, y’know?
>> he’s fighting and he brings up the topic to buy time ig and he’s already thought out what to say and how to connect his thoughts and says them. now i have to imagine him talking in these situations is kind of like when you have an essay and it has to be a certain length so you do what you can to make it longer: double-space, font as large as you’re allowed, turning sentences that could be said in four words into a paragraph, etc.
>> i dunno, i just think it’d be funny, especially of he’d get to the end of the spectrum in topics that he’d never thought he’d use like,,,idk,,,blankets??? and it’s either awkward like “so,,blankets??” or used like “privileged, blanket-wrapped hero hopefuls.” (?? idk i can’t write) but imagine he mumbles these dialogues to himself and someone comes in and is like “what are you doing?” and dabi is just like “shut the fuck up, damn-”
>>> anyway yeah, i thought this’d be a little funny
Dabi: We are great together because we are different
Shigaraki: True, I’m always right and you’re always wrong
Dabi:
