I’m just thinking of how engrained shipping is into the DSMP culture. To the point half of Tommy’s jokes to Dream and George are about them dating, Dream and George can’t stop joking about it. Corpse has started making DNF jokes. Even Wilbur when he didn’t know about DNF shortly after being told it was a meme came up with Gream because he thinks it’s a funnier ship name. Or Karl Quackity and Sapnap calling each other’s fiancés outside of the RP. And George apparently yelling at Sapnap about SNF being worse than DNF. Like these are just things they do and watching them and their close friends you start to think it is normal. 

Until you get things like Karl calling Sapnap his fiancé in front of that pokémon guy who definitely thought they were actually engaged. Or George with his full chest ask the Sidemen about ship names. It’s so funny to be snapped out of the fandom mindset and realize ‘wow our streamers are weird as hell’

Actually all arguments about Dream being bad because he was conservative as a teenager are cancelled. 

He was raised a moderately wealthy white boy in Florida. His family was republican and he was raised with their beliefs. He was kept off of most social medias and did not have a phone until he was about 18. He was on online school for most of high school and spent his time playing Minecraft. 

This was not a man who lived in an environment where he had to question his parents beliefs. But he did. Dream saw he had a massive audience of LGBT+, POC, women, kids from everywhere and he changed his mind on the ideals he was taught. He saw how many people from all over from all sorts of backgrounds watched him and decided he actually would support them. Dream would call himself a Liberal now and he keeps watching Hasan a socialist political commentator.

Also has anyone heard this dude talk recently? Dream was disgusted yesterday by the waste of wealth that comes from the person who cancelled on the trip to space. Dream consistently donates to charity from things he’s mentioned here and there. He donated a lot of money to the Trevor Project. He once mentioned an idea of opening up a home for LGBT+ youth. Like Dream is absolutely not a conservative. 

And as well he stated he never supported Trump, he always thought he was dumb and a joke. Also he never voted for him seeing as in 2016 he was 17 and in 2020 he’d already changed his political beliefs which never aligned with Trump anyways. That is also absolutely the goal real political activists have in mind by the way. If everyone was as willing and open to change as Dream things would be a lot better in this world. 

As well telling someone who was raised to be racist, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic, etc that they can never grow from this and they are inherently awful for ever having those beliefs is reductive as hell. Congrats if you were raised in a welcoming liberal environment where you were taught to respect everyone and how to be PC all of the time. But many of us weren’t and this can’t be an expected norm. It’s a privilege to grow up in an environment like that. 

So let’s not hold it against Dream that he was raised with specific beliefs. I think what’s infinitely more important is that he’s been an adult that can vote for what four/five years? And his political beliefs have swung wildly to the left and he’s clearly very social progressive and active with charities. That feels a lot more important than what he thought when he was seventeen and living under his parents’ roof.

To continue this. Dream was a boy scout he was in the junior ROTC. He’s exactly the type of kid to be pushed to the military and right wing thinking.

Yet he rejects and openly mocks that. He makes fun of the rotc and he made fun of the military on Veterans Day no less.

Dream is the prime example of why education is important because political beliefs can always be changed if people are just given the recourses to do it.

Dream is privileged for never having to question his racist, homophobic, xenophobic and sexist society because it has never once disadvantaged him. you have a very biased view of how these things work. not growing up with conservative views is a privilege not tied to race. my black father is incredibly bigoted. my friends from India and Taiwan their parents are Republicans. My Mexican family couldn’t hate black or gay people more if they tried.

People growing up are given beliefs that don’t truly reflect who they are. It’s once they’re adults who have the power to do things and a life of their own to live what they do with themselves that matter. and he’s not oblivious to the suffering of others anyways he’s much more helpful than most even just because of the resources at his disposal. 

no one said it’s an epic coming of age story. it’s an example of why mindsets like yours are bullshit and unhelpful. you prefer dream what? stay conservative and push those beliefs onto 27 million people? come on there is no reason for this

good time to remind people that education is a privilege and our upbringing can extend past our parents. our parents either sheltered us from everything or they let us roam too far, and for kids of the latter like me, while my parents definitely did shape my views, so did my classmates at school and my schoolteachers (who were majority white and christian). i did not grow up in a place privileged enough to provide me with sufficient education about sociological issues until i studied sociology at a-level, and even that course was outdated by about two decades. i have been lgbt since i was ten fucking years old and yet still in my early teens i was absolutely bigoted and uneducated. i identified as bigender and then not even a year later i was fed transphobic rhetoric like it was nothing. being part of marginalised groups has no part in whether or not you grew up with the privilege of learning how to be a decent person and that mindset buys into the belief that all marginalised identities are infallible when we know that there are plenty of examples of racism and sexism and queerphobia and classism in marginalised society, which, again, are all learned behaviours.

dream did not have the privilege of getting a proper education because of sheltering. that is something he had to learn later on. let’s not shame people for doing better.

dream is neurodivergent and has been For His Entire Life. he wrote a song about that and people mocked it mercilessly because it was #Cringe. dream deserves to be laid upon the alter and slaughtered because he wasn’t just Born Woke, he had to put in the effort to learn. the fact that he Is a part of a marginalized group is erased because it’s Inconvenient to the idea that oppressed people are just inherently born more ideologically pure and non-oppressed people deserve to be torn down no matter what they do or believe (when it’s convenient of course, when it’s people who are annoying to you personally). and if that means lying about them then they obviously deserve it for being Inherently Ideologically Impure in the first place.

AU where All Might passes on OFA to Izuku but during the entrance exam, Izuku accidentally uses Black Whip or Float or one of the other quirks nestled inside OFA and afterwards, All Might and Izuku just stare at each other in confusion.

Izuku: I thought you were giving me…. your quirk, you know…. super strength…

All Might, crying: I thought I was!!!!

Izuku, floating a meter off the ground: Hmm okay

Uraraka: I saw those black tendril thingies

Izuku, through gritted teeth: no, no, it’s super strength. My quirk is being uncooperative but it’ll come, I know it.

Aizawa, making his first vodka tonic 5 minutes into class: your quirk being uncooperative means you don’t know what form it’s gonna take.

(OFA proper doesn’t show up until like the Forest Camp, Izuku is so happy he could cry. His classmates are so confused.)

Tho seriously, this could be a really good thing if handled well. It would force Izuku to learn on-the-fly strategy over brute force that destroys your limbs, and by the time he hit brute force Quirk, he would be physically stronger, more tactically experienced, and less inclined to see brute force Quirk as the only way out of a bad situation. 

……the sheer chaos that would result from seven-Quirk-Izuku running around blindly is a completely separate, but equally delightful, consideration.

Izuku would be both ridiculously OP and an absolute disaster. His quirk is like a roulette wheel that he has only a vague sense of control over. He tries to detroit smash something and he floats away. He wants to smack a villain into space and gets black whips. But agreed, it would teach him patience and adaptability in order to handle OFA.

I imagine the users in his brain had a meeting, having seen his chaotic mind they decided he would absolutely kill himself within 6 minutes of receiving OFA. “Let him have your quirk first, Nana,” 4 suggests. “Its simple and safe for a quirkless boy starting out.”

Izuku proceeds to use Float to aggressively take out the Zero Pointer and they realize just who they are trying to wrangle. Izuku is gonna make this stupid quirk work for him just please let him use All Might’s power, just once please, he was promised dammit. 

(also I am a dumb, I was thinking 8 quirks which is 7 users + ofa but then i realized the First’s is the passing on quirk so you’re right it would 7)

Izuku gets Float and within ten minutes uses it to aggressively challenge a monster robot to a duel to the death, and all the vestiges are like O.O

But, like, I can totally see Uraraka going “ah, yes, you are floating in space with no way to turn it off, my parents dealt with this all the time for a bit I got this” and just towing Izuku around with a piece of rope like a balloon.  1A, watching balloon!Izuku thinks this is the most surreal thing that will happen to them this year. They are wrong. It’s not even villain attacks that are more surreal. It’s Izuku randomly manifesting yet another Quirk in new and unpredictable ways. The training camp hits and there’s just a sonic boom as One for All activates, and all of 1A around makes a quick retreat from Izuku screaming from pain, triumph, and the utter determination to use this shiny new Quirk to wreck total mayhem on the people who took Kacchan.

At least Shouto probably wouldn’t accuse Izuku of being All Might’s love child? But Shouto would definitely wonder if Izuku was All for One’s love child.

I’m about to cry

You’re absolutely right in that the normal chaos of 1-A would be ramped up to 11 if Izuku was randomly developing and switching through quirks. He gets Nana’s during the entrance exam. Three’s comes in during the battle trial. Five happens explosively at USJ. Two manifest while battling Shinsou. Six while he’s feeding Stain his own teeth. Four when All Might is bearing down on him during the Final exams. Until finally, finally, OFA comes to him defending Kouta from Muscular. The vestiages had run out of powers to feed the ravenous quirk fanboy and could no longer keep the destructive power away from him. The delighted cackling could be heard throughout the whole forest.

Each new manifestation that is clearly not All Might’s power gets a shriek from Izuku, both out of frustration and unadulterated joy at have more quirks to play with. Anytime he manifest a new quirk, his classmates are so confused. ‘Why do have so many quirks? What do you MEAN you’ve never seen it before? I’m sorry you were q u i r k l e s s a few months ago??’ Man once they even have a hint of AFO existing, 1-A is up and arms ready to defend Izuku from villain accusations. 

They learn to get used to it, strange noise happening somewhere in the dorms? Probably Midoriya developing a new quirk (after OFA Izuku’s like ‘phew that’s it’ and once again everyone is up in arms because ‘HOW DO YOU KNOW???’). It becomes common place to see him using a quirk or six at the same time even as other people not in the know are spitting out their drinks.

Just take a moment, one moment, to imagine how Monoma would react to this 1A having his quirk only better.

It’s the reactions of everyone that really get to me. Monoma? Would die of jealousy. 

Aizawa? Is going to go grey from the stress of a child constantly manifesting new and dangerous Quirks with no idea how to use them.

All Might? Didn’t even know multiple Quirks in One for All were an option, and is equal parts terrified and proud. 

All for One himself? I don’t care if this is a dad for one universe or not, Izuku manifesting a new Quirk every few days is going to drag All for One’s attention over to Izuku real fast.

Gran Torino? Was suspicious of the kid’s potential All for One connections right up All Might mentions that Izuku has Float, and then Gran Torino’s just going to have moment where he realizes a little piece of Nana lived on and have an emotional breakdown. Inko? Has actually no idea what’s going on. Izuku finding his missing Quirk after years? Highly improbable, but at least vaguely possible. Izuku manifesting a half dozen random Quirks out of the blue? Hoo boy, that’s a whole different story. Inko’s going to want answers, now.

Nedzu? Is cackling. Everyone is afraid.

Inko and Aizawa are going to have weekly meetings where they talk about Izuku’s bullshit quirk(s) over large margaritas. 

What’s amusing to me is when Float first manifests, if the vestiges decide to keep quiet, Toshi and Izuku’s first thought probably isn’t ‘hey this an aspect of OFA’ but Izuku’s original unnoticed quirk.

Izuku, insanely excited about Float but also incredibly disappointed: So OFA didn’t work? I didn’t get your quirk?

Toshi, super confused and also sad: I don’t think so my boy.

So starts this long train of AM and Izuku theorizing that Izuku is Nana’s secret grandchild (somewhere, Shiggy looks up from his videogames, feeling unexpectedly pissed off) and developed her quirk under stress. There’s tears, Gran gets involved and they all act like a big messy family and its nice

Then 3 days later Izuku, idk, develops the ability to teleport short distances and everyone is like what.

god i hate how normalized diet culture and shit like bmi and calories are. bmi is based on eugenics. calories are a measurement of how much energy something gives u and not at all of how much weight or fat ull gain. diets have been proven to be harmful and ultimately unhelpful in actually losing weight. fatness has been largely proven to not be inherently unhealthy and doesnt inherently cause health issues.
