Okay silly AU idea I woke up with:

Les Mis superhero AU. Valjean exists simultaneously in two of his identities, Fauchelevent and Madeleine. True to the og cartoon TwoFace, half of his costume is the mayor's impeccably-tailored but unfashionably-colored green coat (think of Marius' embarrassment at his own green coat in the Brick), and the other half is his unfortunate mustard-colored coat with the wig pockets and money sewn into the linings. His motto is the biblical do not let your right hand know what your left hand is doing. He dispenses alms with one side and helpful inventions/plant advice pamphlets with the other. He parkours across the rooftops leaving money in people's chimneys Saint-Nicolas style. He swoops in on every faulty-infrastructure related accident to rescue everyone involved. And meanwhile, Javert, despite grudgingly respecting his efforts, still pursues him and tries to gather evidence against him because in his villain incarnation he is...

I need to talk about Éponine and Cosette meeting one final time before Ponine’s death on the barricade because it makes me feel crazy.

Imagine you grow up alongside another girl in an abusive household, a girl who you are raised to believe yourself superior to and you treat her accordingly and then one day she is whisked away by a mysterious man never to be seen again. And then years later through a convoluted series of events you meet her again, and she got everything you ever wanted: a loving father, a big house, nice clothes and you’ve only fallen further into poverty. And she doesn’t recognise you. In fact she seems to pity you, she gives you five francs for a petty errand because she can tell just by looking at you that you need the money. AND SHE DOESN’T RECOGNISE YOU!

And then you die, presumably with her money still in your pocket and with the man who loves her holding you. And afterwards he will immediately hurry off to read her letter and she will never know that you saved his life. Fucking FUCK
