I adore Les Miserables (especially Valvert), reading, singing, musical theatre, writing, beading, mutual aid, activism, teaching, libraries, and exploding with excitement over any and all of these things with friends!

Can't sleep so writing a new Valjean ficlet - time to see how many metaphors I can cram into a paragraph before it explodes! 😆 Is this anything

Jean Valjean was weary. 

It was not just a fatigue of the body. He had weathered countless exertions, perennial wounds of which his scars spelled out the story, but not a one of them compared to this quiet racking ache. He'd carried burdens all his life; bundles of branches in Faverolles which, once fallen, petrified to Toulon stone, to rocks and crates and beams and walls all borne upon his back. He'd held them up against the sky, at first with burning defiance, then with resignation, his former fire’s cooling coals. 

But this, this trial was different, this was a new ache that coursed within him, pulling like the moon towing the tide, and the sand under his feet rushed out beneath him; he wondered when he'd fall. 

Why did this so oppress him, he who had been numb, whose calluses encased his heart like armor? He could bear any weight, but this was new. He had been Atlas enduring, yet this single stone increased his burden to one he could not hold; it brought the titan to his knees.

honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it's humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.

This is so true!!!! Most of my life, my friends were the same age as me - UNTIL I started teaching at my second school. Then all of a sudden I had fellow teacher friends who were 40 years older than me, friends that were 6 years younger, and everything in between. And we get along so well - there's very little divide. Right now, one of my best friends is about the same age as me, and another is 11 years older, and they are the most wonderful and fun people I know. Multi-age friendships are so important! 🩷

This was sort of me except all humanities subjects were a hyperfixation to me so I had incredibly detailed notes in those BUT also all of the margins were full of musicals song lyrics and little scraps of stories I was writing 😆 so my friends were like "can I borrow your notes to study before the test" and upon receiving them were like: ... Of course you did this 🙃

oh i have a lot of favorite songs i love, ig my overall favorite song would be its not a fashion statement its a deathwish mcr, but also neptune by sleeping at last too, and for the at the moment part, ive recently been listening to fade to black by metallica a lot, the guitars at the start and end are so pretty! also davy jones hans zimmer from the potc soundtrack too bc i associated it with a chapter i wrote last year and now i just like the song LKJSDFLKJSFD

@sentimental-bookshelf I LOVE SPIRIT too, that was one of my brothers’ all time favorite movies as a kid so I have seen it like 20 times 😆

1. Does… Does the 10th Anniversary Les Mis Concert count? 🤩 

2. Hmm this is harder than I thought… Lord of the Rings is definitely one (the whole trilogy) 

3. Van Helsing because it is just so campy and silly and fun and for some reason also has one of the most book-accurate Frankenstein's Creatures? Like, characterization-wise? I love him ☺️ 

4. Star Trek Generations because nostalgia and my first blorbo (Data!)

Mid-morning when it's sunny and when you walk outside you feel the light pool on your shoulders and if you close your eyes it shines orange behind your lids and you're just wrapped in it deliciously in what I imagine it must feel like to be a plant

But they are notoriously hard to get into

Like, the Broadway-level-talented lead in my last musical did not get in

But oh my god

I would give my hair and teeth to be in this musical

Like my dream since I was 11 years old
