Tyler tried to scowl, he really did, but her joy was contagious. He found himself laughing under his breath as he shook his head, not gifting her a response to that one. “At least I don’t study dead people for fun.” And, well, maybe that wasn’t a fair way to describe being a history major, but it still brought a smile back to his lips. His eyebrows slowly raised as Jackie visibly thought on his question, and though his eyes did spare a glance at the hand touching his chest, his grin now turned rueful. “Have I ever told you that your compassion is astounding?” The question came out deadpan, but he didn’t make to move away before she could start the joint. Instead, he allowed her the time to do so before pocketing the lighter once more, “Maybe it’s time I make new friends. You know, nice ones who don’t insult me while I’m smoking them up.”
“touche. but remember, dude, those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.” she tried her best to sound wise, even as she recited a quote that had been in almost every classroom she’d been in the last couple years. she couldn’t help but laugh, the sound coming out in a cough as she exhaled the smoke at the same time. “so only you can do that? unfair. besides, you know you’d be bored too quick with anyone else.”
