the original title of the vignette was called "ugliness" but was changed to capture the nuances of the content.

醜悪 (しゅうあく, shuuaku) is made of:

醜 (しゅう, shuu) = ugly, unsightly, shameful

悪 (あく, aku) = evil, bad, wicked

shuuaku is already a stronger word than "ugliness" also carrying shades of the following...

grotesque

sordid

disgusting

reprehensible

the word "shuuaku" can be used to describe something visually repellant and morally corrupt behavior.

the word "shuuaku" was purposefully chosen to capture that dr. blaster is "ugly" in both body and soul.

the evolution of kyuten 𓏲🪽˚. ˖ . ݁

you may or may not believe this, but kyuten has changed a lot since her conception. this was before i fleshed out the world of cyberia and landed on a coherent tone for the story as well as a definitive "look" for the world. in the beginning, cyberia looked more like a neon apocalyptic wasteland. any trace of magic and whimsy came from the characters themselves instead of the world they inhabit. during this initial draft kyuten was more "down to earth" figuratively and literally. she would be seen perching on telephone poles and spent more time on earth than she did the heavens. she also looked a lot like those eerie uncanny valley fanarts of chii from chobits at this point in time.

this is all a far cry from the untouchable enigmatic goddess we know her as today. back then she was a more established character. you could see her a walking around and you could talk to her just like anyone else. you wouldn't know she was the ruling entity unless she or someone else explicitly told you. her original character design (and presentation) used to be more gender ambiguous. in case you've forgotten, while addressed with she/her and feminine nouns, kyuten is in fact genderless. this was more obvious in her original concept but was phased out over time due to her heavily idealized depiction by the church, netizens, and dr. blaster specifically, leaning more female. all of her masculine design elements were repurposed for jin.
