Been thinking a lot about the anon who mentioned the kenochoric identity (a neogender identity centering on kenopsia, which is something I’ve been deeply connected to for years) and lowkey… I forget sometimes that I can just do that, y’know. I was like “well that sounds exactly like me but I’m also 100% a binary trans man so maybe I can’t use that label” but what kinda trans joy blog would I be running if I questioned multi-label identities. Like kenochoric trans man can just be me, I can just do that and I don’t need to ask permission or anything. I didn’t even know until right now that I could do that. Life is amazing. Holy shit.

Tabletop rpg games are fun. Randomly remembered an anecdote from someone's game - their game was in a fantasy setting, one of the characters was some type of beastfolk, whose teeth are like shark teeth, sharp and constantly regenerating. This character was also lawful good and stoically dignified about enduring unfair prejudice against their people.

Another character was chaotic neutral, can't recall their background but this one figured out that the beastfolk one's teeth looked very similar to the teeth of some monster whose teeth are also worth a lot of money.

So every single time before the party entered any kind of settlement that could have exotic goods trade, the players of these two characters would roll for nonlethal combat - the chaotic neutral bastard would attack the beastfolk one armed with a pair of pliers, determined to pluck out one of their teeth in order to sell it.

So the rest of the party just had to put up with the regular slapfights, of an unstoppable force of "hey come on fuck you give me your teeth" vs. immovable object of "no fuck you stop scamming people with my teeth."

When it comes to climates in fantasy settings, it's good to bear in mind that "normal" and "freaky" are a matter of where one grew up. There are things that only live in one climate, and not in another. It might feel tempting to make the people from the Scary Fucky Nightmare Climate not flinch at anything at all, but it's far more fun and realistic to make them frightened or at least unsettled by things they've never seen before. Doesn't matter if it's harmless to humans, What The Fuck Is That Thing And Why Is It Indoors.

Cold climates, for example, are dominated by warm-blooded creatures like mammals and birds. Your big nordic valkyrie warrior woman whose first baby chew toy was a bear skull, and who once kicked a lynx in the face for trying to get her little brother, would not be chill about the concept of a lizard as big as a squirrel, or a spider bigger than her thumb. These two examples are the biggest upper limit hypothetical examples of absurdly large reptiles and invertebrates that they could possibly imagine.

So naturally, every time someone didn’t have a pencil she would charge them 10 house points (which, even in schools where there is an actual house point system, probably doesn’t fucking happen). She openly held the belief that she had to ascribe value to these precious writing implements or else no one would appreciate them, a concept evidenced by, i kid you not, how when homeless people are given houses for free they let them fall into disarray, because they didn’t pay for the house and therefore didn’t care about it. I, a pissed off 13 year old with a vendetta against power hungry teachers and also JK Rowling, brought a 100 pack of pencils to school so that whenever someone had to ask for one, instead of being charged a fictional currency and upsetting their fellow, deeply competitive students, i would just give them one. If the pencil didn’t come from the teacher, she couldn’t charge points for it.

This upset her. She couldn’t assert her power over the 1st period Advanced 8th Grade Math Class anymore. For i, The Pencil Liberator, had come to put an end to her tyrannous behavior.

She told me to stop about 30 pencils in.

For those of you that are new, part of my personal lore is that I can use both of my hands effectively because when I was a child I had a fear of losing my dominant (right) hand and not being able to do anything and so I trained myself to be able to do most daily activities with my left hand.

A lot of people hear this and are like “are you sure you’re not actually left handed and were forced to be right handed?”

And I know for sure that I’m not left handed because I’m currently recovering from a small injury on my right arm that I should not be using right now and yes I can do most activities just as effectively with my left hand but because I am indeed right handed I keep instinctually reaching for things with my right hand, completely forgetting that I have an injured arm and then immediately suffering from the consequences.
