So. The only other longfic I had written within the past year has been on hold, stuck on chapter four for months now. The fact that I got to five chapters on this one and still have motivation to work on it is huge for me. It might not seem like that big of a deal, but it is to me.

Thank you all so, so much for your comments and your reactions. They keep me going in so many ways. I feel like crying right now as I type this because of how much y'all mean to me haha. Thank you all for your thoughts and for your love.

The reason why "Lights Out" is genuinely a good and enjoyable book, even to non-dark romance readers, is that Josh Hammond is basically Kenji Kishimoto and/or James Anderson if they were an adult dark romance protagonist instead of a YA dystopian fantasy protagonist.

Guy with a traumatic childhood that clearly impacts his life and behavior to this day, uses humor not only as a way to deflect his darker thoughts but also as a way to lift up the spirits of other people and themselves, appearing goofy and kind of awkward, and not saying that they aren't, but he can also be a complete ride or die for anyone if needed, super protective of people he has let in and feel strongly towards, tough exterior but inside he's a complete softie, super obsessed and down bad for his woman, and lastly behind closed doors he's a FREAK.
