Art Nouveau inspired Mordecai Heller
[WIP] Happy New Year!
Eh,, sure why not? Let's color this before 2025! I'm finished with my part in another project anyway Notes: - If the way I drew Freckle's tail isn't obvious enough, my linework has always been inspired by The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse!! - Still deciding how I would actually shade this. I already have a color key ready but it's how much detail I should put into the rendering. Maybe I'll use heavy line weight instead, who knows LMAO I am very inconsistent and run with just vibes - Had to blur the floor a bit because it's obvious the reflection is not lining up properly with the footwork
Mordecai and fashion trends
I only realised when I saw this frame that Mordecai wears a detachable collar
The 1920s were the decade men began to shift to attached collars which are the norm today (see video below at 9:37). Though they where still available, especially by the end of the decade, it was generally only older men or the wealthiest who would be seen wearing them
Its interesting Mordecai chooses the more conservative fashion despite being 28 at the time of the main comic which occurs in 1927.
Could be a nod to his more formal buttoned down nature
Or it could be because, when he first arrived in St Louis, Atlas provided him with his own second hand clothes, and as an older man his shirts were likely this style
So thats what Mordecai got accustomed too, even when Mitzi arranged for new ones that actually fit his slimmer build
Or maybe he just finds it easier for laundering blood stains to be able to change the collar and not the whole shirt ;)
Also worth noting that Mordecai's dapper fashion sense does not stick entirely to the older school, as his trousers are much slimmer in "Inegnue" set in 1921, six years earlier than the main series in 1927, where the pilot episode shows he has started wearing much wider ones
This reflects another trend in the middle of the decade where trousers began to shift from the slender "drainpipe" style of the Victorian/Edwardian era and began expanding , a trend started by rebellious students at Oxford University with "Oxford Bags", though most (and certainly Mr Heller) avoided the more extreme bagginess of many of those
As well as being wider this was when they began to introduce pleats to provide more room for the thighs
Mordecai seems to have been on top of this fairly new fashion trend fairly early, including it in the matching suits for himself and Viktor for the 1926 New Years party
It is always interesting to note these fun details in the evolution of mens fashion in any history inspired series, expecially one set in the dapper 1920s!
Noise felt tired, so Noisette tried to cheer him up in her way, which was yapping. And she ended up sucking his social battery even more.
That's how I see their dynamics. And I've heard that she is officially noisier than The Noise. lol
As far as I know, comedians are quiet since they use all their energy during the show, like The Noise occasionally feels worn out. I wrote the dialogue by hand like the official comics, and I hope you can read it at least.
This is my OC, Dream Eater.
Dreamcatchers are known for making your nightmare go away, but what Dream Eater gives are different.
She intrudes on dreams of people who received dreamcatchers from her and just watches them.
Sometimes she takes part in dreams. Whether she makes them worse or better is up to her mind.
And she collects the dreams, ties them to her web, and eats them whenever she feels hungry.
I didn't create fanwork for a while. Recently, I got into Pizza Tower. This game was published two years ago. I think I get into things a bit late. Roughly, it is my head canon that the hairs of The Noise's mask is for him taking it off easily.
This art style contradicts to mine. It is difficult to break down, deformable, and looks like drawn freely. It is difficult to draw than it seems. It may not feel like you're drawing the same character with the slight difference. It is the art style I look for in some way.
Old timers may remember the day a behind-the-scenes photo of Arthur's Arkham records came out. We spent many hours squinting at and editing it, trying to decipher the questionnaire's blurry letters. 🔍
Well, those records are now on tour! 😃 Luci was kind enough to post these pictures on Insta and allow me to share them here. The first photo is of a brand new page of Arthur's records, which details some of his vital statistics and medications. (His age here differs from what Phillips has said. I'm going to assume a prop master filled it out and stick with thirty-five. 😂) The second is the clearest photo of the Arkham questionnaire I've ever seen.
Thanks again for sharing, Luci! You can visit her Insta here!
I have a headcanon that as a priest, Bishop presents himself as a strict person but he actually has a cheerful personality. The reason is he displays the most dynamic facial expressions even for the Cuphead standard and due to his iconic dancing in the background, it's hard to assume he is calm. And he seems a bit mischievous judging by the death screen.
SO EXCITED!
D'AAAAW! Baby Ivy and young Mordecai!
Ivy Pepper from Lackadaisy
The posture referenced one of Tracy's arts and Ginger Rogers because this drawing was made to rehabilitate my rusty hand.
It's sad to have less and less time to draw although I wouldn't give up art itself.
Esther Winchester, the cheerful cowgirl from Cuphead DLC.
I think she is well-designed among the cowgirl characters.
Her having no problem with eating beef suggests the dark side(?) of the Cuphead universe.
The trident is stolen from the Devil.
The color scheme and the long stick placed in the middle of the picture remind me of the Chalice art I've made before.
Despite him being my favorite, I didn't draw King Dice that much. Oh, my.
He puts on airs and doesn't like others to touch him cuz it will wrinkle his suit, but he couldn't escape from Cuphead.
It was so adorable that I drew the scene including the telephone which was rejected to be cuddled by King Dice.
Medicine Seller from Mononoke which will be released in theaters next year.
The producers lowered his color tone since the background would be more colorful, but his patterns and accessories became more complex.
The theater version has different voice actors, character design, and setting so it will be refreshing.
And this is a no-cloud version.
Her Majesty. It's been a while since I drew traditional art... The case of colored pencils was so dusty that I had to wipe 2 times. I thought the character and the subject were good for traditional art.
Some Cab Calloway-inspired King Dice!
Beautiful!!!
